Hey, I just got back from there over the weekend. Really good trip. A few minutes of rain in camp on Saturday, but a really nice night. Something kind of freaked us out, though. We were standing around talking, when I spotted a big white thing walking down the trial on the other side of Lena Creek. I thought, "what the hell is a dog doing way out here?" Then I saw the horns. It was one big-ass mountain goat. I was very surprised to see it so low. But it wandered over to our side of the creek and headed on up the mountain. During the climb the next day, I saw hoof prints almost the whole way to the top. Apparently this route is known to other species, too. The next morning was really nice until we got up to the first chute above the blowdown. Then the entire upper mountain was socked in and stayed that way. The snow was still good, though, and I'm not too proud to use someone else's steps, either. Thanks, whosever those were On the way down it began to sleet a bit, so as soon as we traversed around the hourglass we glissaded as far as we could. The snow was still hard, though, so the boys got a bit roughed up. Nothing bad, though. At the blowdown it began raining again, and it pretty much pissed on us off and on the rest of the way back to the car. A really fun trip, despite the dearth of views.

Anyone heading up there over Memorial Day weekend?

That's kind of a wakeup. I've done WA solo many times, in lots of different conditions, as well as taken up several newbies. I guess I even feel a bit proprietary about it and though I'd heard of people falling off of it, I've never even given thought to it happening to me.

I've got a 99 Raleigh M80. Just up the road in Bremerton

Did you go down into/toward Big Creek basin, or stay way up on the ridge? I'm really curious; the traverse was on my list of winter "projects" (for lack of a better word) but I never got around to it.

langor rises reaching to turn off the alarm and there's never so much seething that it can't be disarmed but just stop it up, patch it on shove to shelf it, to leave it off and TURN OVER Lounging 'gainst your weapons until your muscles find lock in the ease of that position wait until the tremor passes as some cherie amour suggests maybe it was time to smash things up but just stop it up, patch it on shove to shelf it, to leave it off and TURNOVER I'm only I'm only sleeping

My Grandma has a little pom named Foxy. Really cute but boy was she a bitch when I was little. Hated little kids and I have the scars to prove it! My parents have a picture of her when she was a puppy and she was a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes!

I have to write a paper for History about whether America would be better off today if the Puritan ethic was still in full effect, ala 1640-ish New England. I'm of the mind to say "no", but wonder what all you edumacated folks have to say? Do tell.

I test drove one of these and it seemed like a pretty decent vehicle. Features pretty well thought out, a fair though not great amount of room, versatile. Drove nice, had decent power and was reasonably priced in the upper teens. Don't forget ridiculously ugly!

Dark Helmet - "Who's that Man?" Colonel Sanders - "He's an asshole, sir." DH - "I know that! What's his name?" CS - "Asshole, sir, Major Asshole?" DH - "How many other assholes do we have around here?" (All hands go up) DH - "I knew it! I'm surrounded by assholes!" and later...while "combing" the desert" DH - "Have you found anything yet?" Black Dude with big pick - "Man, we aint' found shit!" DH - "Keep searching, assholes!" Spaceballs =

Went up with a friend on the 29th and everything was cool. The avalanche statement was pretty grim, but we went right on up the ridge in bright, bright sunlight all day and saw evidence of only a few snowball caused sloughs, and those thrown by some punk teenagers. Snow was firm on the way up (6-11 am), but postholed a lot coming down, especially on the lower ridge and right before treeline. Lots of people and dogs. I give my ex-jock friend crap 'cause he got beat to the top by a pomeranian.

My wife hates it. But after all the $$ I've thrown down the hole, I don't think she'd let me quit.

I'm the same way and it really bums me out. Well, off to find a rope before I pass on the habit to my kids...

"Molly's Lips" was the Vaselines, from Edinburgh, Scotland. So was "Son of a Gun".

"Walkin' the Cow" is a Daniel Johnston tune. I like fIREHOSE's version better. Most of their covers are on the Totem Pole EP, which is awesome. Check out Mannequin (Wire), The Red and the Black (BOC) and Revolution Part II (Butthole Surfers, hope I don't fuck it up, Gibby!) Screeching Weasel's version of "I Fall to Pieces" (Patsy Cline) is pretty cool, too; Minor Threat's "Stepping Stone" is also rad.

granny knots work great with my boots. They are easy to use in the dark with cold fingers, easily double for extra security and are easily taken out of the laces.

dirt bikes are fun!

To believe your presumption, I must first be convinced that GNR ever put out anything worthwhile.

That does sound like a great deal, Troy. Question for the Colonel: Why exactly do you need the XTR derailleur? Do you race? Is this a weight savings issue with you? XT stuff have proven to be just as, if not more, reliable as the XTR group. Anyway, I have a brand new XTR derailleur that came with my Enduro Expert. It was installed on the bike once and then removed, so a chain has been run through a few revolutions, but nothing on the trail or road. Interested? Sorry to steal your thread, Troy. Good luck with the bike. Tried e-bay yet?

the troops are quiet tonight but it's not alright 'cause you know they're planning something don't you know things have settled down, down, down, but quiet is a dangerous sound we must we must we must we must we must we must we must we must keep our eyes open and see what we'll see what once was promised now will be... still uncertain? still uncertain? get off of that hang just get with the bang the tools, they will be swingin' the tools, they will be swingin' but we will not be beaten down fu-fucking-gazi, dig it?
