  1. I might be up for Thursday. Let me see what I can get done today.
  2. No kidding. Two true stories: 1) I was waiting to get on a climb that was being top roped. The climbers knew I was waiting to get on the climb but proceeded to take a lunch break between climbers. 2) Patiently waiting to get on a climb being top roped. Again, the climbers knew I was waiting. After they both finish, I was informed that they would be making "2nd tries". But, there are thoughtless assholes in any field of endeavour, not just top roping. The climbers you cited could just as easily have said, "we'll be here awhile, if you want to top rope you can jump on our rope, if you like".
  3. That's Soylent Green!
  4. talk about apples and oranges... Rudy, wrong metaphor. Quantitative difference not qualitative. More like tangerines and grapefruit.
  5. Wait a minute, a six year old in diapers?!?
  6. Leaving fixed draws for week is one thing, but leaving them for a year is another. You did the right thing.
  7. I've recently rediscovered top roping. I've been doing too much leading. My climbing skills have increased and my confidence on lead has increased. If you top rope something really hard, at your limit, then back off a grade or two when you go on lead, it seems a lot easier.
  8. Time for another entitlement story. We once lived in Santa Ana Heights California in a rented house with a nice yard with lots of ornamental plants, which our own small kids knew enough not to molest. We had neighbors who lived across the driveway and had a son about the same age as my son, which at this time was about 3 year of age. Little Ryan was invited to come over and play with our kids, and he did for a while, but my wife caught him standing there pulling leaves off a flowering vine one by one. She told him, very nicely that there was a rule at our house against hurting the plants. Well the mother was in the other yard and overheard this and said, "you can't discipline my child! Only I can do that!" Well my wife said, "when your son is at our house, he must play by the rules at our house, all the other kids that come to play here do, and we all get along just fine". The woman stormed over the fence and grabbed her kid, saying, "Ryan will never be allowed at your house again". And we both said, "that's just fine". And he never did.
  9. You could take your truck to Lee Wilcox at Lynnwood Auto and Truck. Good service and a fair price and he's a skier and climber. Lynnwood Auto & Truck Service 6131 212th St SW Lynnwood, WA 98036 (425) 776-5888 http://www.yellowpages.com/sp/moreinfo/index.jsp?listingId=78605166&id=78605166&from=qpibp&qcat=Automobile+Repairing+%26+Service&qs=WA&qc=Lynnwood&qcid=204261634
  10. What does that mean? I thought the point of orienteering was finding your way through wild terrain. Build a course and soon you'll just be following a trail. Aren't the courses completely different for each event?
  11. This Pandora?
  12. Cascade Cobbler There, I fixed your link.
  13. Those look very much like the BD/ABC Heuvos/ Smileys, even to the color code.
  14. Yep, once we get the weather. I think it would be better to start a new thread, though.
  15. You are such a turd.
  16. One reason is that the route is overhanging and it would be very difficult to rappel the route to place them. Is that it?
  17. Forgive an ignorant question, but why is it necessary to leave fixed draws on this particular route?
  18. Those two isotopes exist. Both are man-made. Pu(238) is the preferred isotope for generators. Pu(239) is used in weapons. Pu(244) is the naturally occurring isotope with an 80 million year half-life. I fell in to a ring of fire... I fell in to a burning ring of fire I went down, down, down And the flames went higher. And it burns, burns, burns The ring of fire The ring of fire.
  19. Do you think the 5.10c to the left of Red Tide is two letter grades harder? That would be hard!
  20. We saw one other party of two who came up at noon. They'd spent the morning on Groundhog Day.
  21. The article did say that the generator was composed of a mixture of the two isotopes 238 and 239.
  22. Secrecy is important, if there is a good reason for it. There is no longer a reason to protect those old secrets. In fact, it does more harm than good. There needs to be a public discussion about whether steps are needed to protect the Ganges from plutonium.
  23. If there is higher radiation levels in the Ganges, I doubt it would be from the plutonium reactor buried in the Nanda Devi glacier. The huge dilutions involved would reduce radiation to background. More likely radiation would be as a result of mining activity. The article did say that plutonium 239 was detected with 95% certainty in coarse sediments from the waters of the Sanctuary. Likely ICP-MS was used for this test. It is extremely sensitive.
  24. Where you aiming at Kevbone??? Not what I expected. Cute and holding a gun impressive. Not shown- the old computer monitor she was aiming at.
  25. Our Dalmatian gets rice supplemented with baby formula. She also gets some leftovers as well mixed in with her rice. She has done quite well on this diet.
