I think that if you park at the Pacific Crest Trail parking near the Nordic Center, it'll take a Trail Park Pass rather than a SnoPark. I could be wrong. From there you can ski the Iron Horse Trail.

That's what I would do if I had the money.

If it is so ridiculous, then why in hell did you post to it? I was bored, so sue me.

Metolius TCU's vs. Aliens (small sizes)
catbirdseat replied to COL._Von_Spanker's topic in The Gear Critic
Will, that makes a lot of sense. Cams almost always pull out before they break. When people say they prefer to use a piece for aid, it isn't because of it's load capacity, but because that particular piece is harder to place and may require more careful examination and testing. From what I have read the TCU's are easier to examine and determine if they are well-placed than Aliens. -
It's rather strange that I should be so fond of someone who is just about the polar opposite of myself in almost every way.

I think gift cards suck in general. Stores love them because they are frequently not redeemed by those who receive them. Second, I think REI is a terrible place to go to buy skiing gear. I would have used the card for something else at REI and gone elsewhere for the skis with cash money.

Metolius TCU's vs. Aliens (small sizes)

I guess this thread sort of addresses the issue. Actual Strength of Gear I think Colorado must be publishing a lab test breaking strength and Metolius a pull out strength. If there are really no standards for testing cams, there ought to be. -
I'll bet many of you think this place is better off without the likes of trask. I don't. Even though his comments may be inane, I think they tend to keep threads flowing, by drawing people's attention to them.

Metolius TCU's vs. Aliens (small sizes)

I've read some good observations, but no one has attempted to answer my original question, which is, "are Aliens really stronger than Metolius TCUs for a given size?" -
Aye, laddie, the man said he was "gutted" over his mistake.

I think there is a fixed anchor ban. As long as you don't place any bolts, you're golden.

We could have a caption contest. "The stripes were my secret weapon in the speed climbing competion. The idea is to get your opponent to start laughing and fall off."

How do you find articles that were "published"? That is, the old trip reports were found on the Entrance Page. They are no longer there. Where are they?

My main concern is that this proposal will tend to foster the creation of an officially sactioned, permanent underclass, such as they have in Germany and Japan. In those countries there are large minorities of Turks and Koreans, respectively who can never become citizens. I believe that in both cases you cannot become a citizen even if you were born there, which is not the case here.

So what you're saying is that we don't have enough workers to fill all of the jobs? Got to beg to differ on that. Bush means we don't have enough cheap workers to fill all the jobs.

Next thing you know out comes the bolt kit.

Metolius TCU's vs. Aliens (small sizes)

Gear Express publishes 6 kN for the two smallest TCU's whereas REI gives 4.4 kN. Have there been design changes? -
My daughter has a large number of hispanic friends and many of them say they voted for Bush in 2000, but they will not be fooled this time around.

Damn, the word's out.

Metolius TCU's vs. Aliens (small sizes)
catbirdseat replied to COL._Von_Spanker's topic in The Gear Critic
Emmhic, Paco and I were having a discussion at REI climbing hardware department last night. We talked about the relative merits of TCUs versus Aliens and we covered the usual things about the TCUs being more durable, etc., Aliens supposedly being better for aid climbing, all stuff covered by this old thread. I noticed a big difference is load capacities between TCU's and Aliens in the small sizes. Is it is real or just a matter of one manufacturer being more conservative in its ratings? If Aliens are better for aid, then why do they have the higher load capacity? I've tried to group the cams below according to size. The Aliens all have a higher rating for their size. Silver TCU 00, 8.9-14.5 mm, 4.4 kN Blue Alien 3/8, 9.9-17.0, 9.3 kN Purple TCU 0, 10.4-16.5, 4.4 kN Green Alien 1/2, 12.7-17.0 mm, 11.6 kN Blue TCU 1, 11.7-19.5 mm, 8.8 kN Yellow TCU 2, 15.2-24.9 mm, 8.8 kN Yellow Alien 3/4, 15.5-27.1 mm, 13 kN -
