Save your money for gear. Find someone from this site to take you up. That's what it's all about.

I think climbers are more likely to die a la John Belushi, or Jimmy Hendrix.
-
I saw this on the TV last night. The kit basically consists of aspirin, nitroglycerine, clopidogrel and metoprolol. Sounds good, except that I can't even think of an instance in which a climber has had a heart attack. I have some vague recollection of someone telling me about something they read in ANAM. A fellow I once knew who was about 65 years old died of a heart attack while hiking alone, but that's about it.

I'm taking my preventative medicine today on my lunch break, which consists of running 4 miles in the rain. All I gotta do is get myself out the door, then the rest will take care of itself.

Okay, trask, tell us who "they" are.

I guess you guys really decided it was time for this thread to come to an end. Homosexual photos are the surest way to get the job done.

Dude, I mentioned this in the Patriot Thread, yesterday.

Yeah, write across the street. Minx, have you been hanging out with Muffy in the Chat Room?

The patriotism theme has sort of played out, but the topic of the Constitution has possibilities. I don't have any specific wish that it be amended. I just want to say that I believe the founding fathers apparently intended for it to be very difficult to amend by requiring ratification by 3/4 of the state legislatures. Notwithstanding, it has been amended 17 times since the Bill of Rights (the first 10). The most fertile ground for discussion, I believe is interpretation of the Constitution. Conservative jurists tend to interpret the document as they believe was the intent of the authors, whereas more liberal jurists treat it as a living document which is modified by precendent, current law, etc. Judge Robert Bork, who was nominated for the US Supreme Courst, was of the former persuation. He was considered so extreme in his views by the then democratic majority in Congress that his nomination was not confirmed. The term "Borked" then entered our lexicon. Currently, we have a row over confirmation of some very conservative judges nominated by Bush ( Miguel Estrada , for example, withdrawn in September). The dems consider them so extreme in their views that they are willing to fillibuster in order to prevent confirmation from coming to a vote.

General statements are considered safe. Without facts, there is little to challenge and all is opinion.

Remember, if you have to shoot a non-paying customer, always say you thought he was reaching for a gun. It works most of the time. Isn't that right, trask?

I was on my way to work this morning and was listening to the news on the radio. They announced that a man was shot in his car at a business park in Bothell. Hmm, I thought, that could be Canyon Park. Sure enough it was. There was crime scene tape everywhere and police walking up and down the sidewalks. KIRO TV had a truck there. Police are looking for a blue Buick, license number 886 MWO.

The lofty Mt. Hadley Delta. I hear that the approach was a bitch, and costly too.

Now you're starting to sound like Necro.

Wrlwind, if you are thinking we should repeal Prohibition, that was done already. Maybe what we need now is an amendment protecting the right to smoke pot.

Better become familiar with the following trade names. These two neuraminidase inhibitors are about the only treatments available. I'm not sure about amantadine for Type A. Is avian flu Type A or Type B or neither? Relenza and Tamiflu The answer is yes, it's type A. Reference

The same thing happened to mine. A wire came loose. I took it back to REI for a replacement. The replacement has an improved wire connection along with some additional functionality. There are now three intensity settings and a flashing mode.

My favorite definition of defenestration: 5. The act of completely removing Micro$oft Windows from a PC in favor of a better OS (typically Linux).

Here's the latest research which suggests that BSE is more infective in humans than was previously thought. Some animals may be asymptomatic carriers.

From talking to Rep. Inslee, I got the impression that the Dems were just trying to preserve past gains by stopping GOP bills any way they can. It is sort of like, "we can't go forward, but maybe we can at least avoid going backward".

Convert privately owned climbing area to public ?
catbirdseat replied to openspaces's topic in Access Issues
Of course we are interested! Let's hear more about it. I do know there is a lot of underused climbing areas on the other side of the river. Some are on private property or require passage across private property for access. -
He ought to know; if I remember correctly Thomas Payne WAS rather a scoundrel until he got lucky with a few printed broadsides. Payne was a British ne'er do well who emigrated to America only one year before he wrote the pamphlet Common Sense.

Much of what the EPA and the Forest Service are doing are a result of appointments and executive directives, not legislation. Bush has actually not been able to get as many laws passed as you would expect, given the Republican majority in Congress.
