I don't know about Gore floss, but I did this with waxed nylon marline and it has held up fine for almost a year now. It's easy enough to replace. It only takes a few minutes. I really like being able to feel the mark in the dark. My method is to wrap the marline several times around the rope and then make a series of longitudinal seizings using a needle to prevent the wraps from moving. This method is also useful for the ends of the rope to prevent them from unravelling.

Where the f--- is j_b, this is right up his alley. It's all they are talking about today. Instead all we're talking about is windshirts.
-
I could have used a windshirt climbing Dreamer in misty conditions. Does anyone know where I can buy a red fez?

I can't believe no one hasn't posted on this yet. It's too funny. My buddy at Microsoft hadn't even heard about it yet. The Scotsman "We look forward with amusement to explanations by a variety of psychologists and graphologists of how various characteristics ascribed to the PM on the basis of the doodles, such as ‘struggling to concentrate’, ‘not a natural leader’, ‘struggling to keep control of a confusing world’ and ‘an unstable man who is feeling under enormous pressure’, equally apply to Mr Gates."

They made it sound like the animal was super dangerous. It most likely was paralyzed, otherwise it wouldn't still have been lying in the road. I think it sucks when cops bust people who are trying to do a good thing. They ought to cut people some slack in such instances. I guess that is why some people call them pigs.

Not exactly a coup, because the King is part of the government, but a power grab, nonetheless.

I couldn't imagine a more cynical person than this ShinerTX. Must be a troll.

Seems to me that although most people are perfectly capable of driving safely at 0.08% blood alcohol, there are plenty of people who, when they reach that level at the bar, lose the ability to count drinks. Hence after 0.08%, they go all the way above 0.15%.

I heard a discussion this morning on the radio between opposing view points regarding the need for declaring a timetable for pulling US troops out of Iraq. One side declared that we should pull them out when conditions are right. The other side said that we set dates for both the establishment of interim government and for elections. We should do the same for withdrawl. In my opionion, not setting a date for withdrawl puts us in the position of letting the insurgency dictating what we do. Furthermore, it allows the new Iraqi government to think they can use us indefinitely. If they KNOW we are going to be gone by a certain date, you better believe they will have an incentive to have their defense forces trained and ready in time. Lastly, setting a date makes a statement to the Islamic World that we are sincere about allowing the Iraqis to govern themselves.

So he could claim, a la Mark Twain, that the rumors of his demise are "greatly exaggerated". Glad that you are okay, Rob.

My buddy Mark has a set of three slider nuts that he let me borrow once. Once they are set in a parallel sided crack, they are set! They aren't nearly as adaptable as LoweBalls.

Hey, Joel, who are the people you don't like to see? Any people, or just certain people? I don't mind seeing people so much as hearing them. Some just seem to forget when they aren't in the city any more and continue hollering at the top of their lungs.

That was almost as long as a doctoral dissertation. Geez. Drunks don't have that kind of attention span.

Colin uploaded the topo to this site about a year and a half ago. I looked at it recently. It looks as though it has been purged. Send a pm to colin. Maybe he has a copy still. Try a search for the original post on "Fee Demo Wall".

I sure hope the election goes off as well as possible. It's damn important. The Shiites will get elected. We'll train them and get out and they will take care of killing off the Sunni terrorists. Either that, or the Sunnis will finally see the futility of fighting the majority and settle down.

Layton, just think, if you lose in court, you could pay triple damages, or $15. On the other hand you could be forced to pay court costs. I can't believe a trademark for dirtbag could hold up in court, but you don't want to find out.

Cascade Climbers Nostalgia. They are pining for the "good old days".

I finally got around to taking a picture of my old gear collection. I got them from a guy who climbed in college ten years ago and in turn got them from his father. There are Chouinard, Eiger and SMC pieces.

I remember how I was pissed off in 1990 that Papa Bush stopped the army from entering Bagdad and taking out Saddam. In my own mind, I used that as justification to vote against Bush, who I thought was a pretty good president, even though I am and was a Democrat. Now I realize what a wise man Papa Bush was and what a fool I was for thinking as I did.

The older MSR ones used to break rivets, but they have replace the aluminum rivets with titanium ones and this doesn't happen any more I am told. After all four front rivets broke on my MSRs I replaced them with SS bolts with aircraft nuts. A friend of mine bought a pair of the newer ones and didn't know about the switch to titanium. He tried to drill out the rivets, but his drill bit wouldn't cut and he couldn't figure out why.
