What do you want us to say? Stewart isn't going to get any sympathy from me. She seemed to think that because she was acting in her official capacity as a lawyer that she was beyond the reach of the law. To her dismay, she discovered that the law applies to all equally.

I saw this story on the front page of todays Post Intelligencer. To summarize, a violent rapist convicted in 1985 was up for parole. A jury was asked to decide on October 2003 if he should be committed under the state Civil Committment Act. The jury's task was to decide whether the man had a greater than 50% chance of reoffending. The man had gotten religion in prison, that is, he converted to the Jehovah's Witness faith. The psychologist testifying for the State said that because of his religion, the man had refused treatment for his aggression towards women. Because of this, he would be expected to be more likely to reoffend. Furthermore, the psychologist testified that the statistics show that religion does not have any significant effect on recidivism. The jurors felt otherwise, and to the surprise of prosecutors, voted to release the man. Within months he was attacking women in the U District, two in an elevator, and one in her Eastside apartment. So here are my questions to you. 1) Do you think religion has the power to turn someone away from crime? If so are some religions better than others for this purpose? 2) Do you think that the specific teachings of Christianity played a role in the jury's decision? Christianity teaches the sins can be forgiven and some sects seem to emphasize this above living a good and just life. Seattle PI Story I almost forgot the point I really wanted to make, which was this strikes me as similar to the Bush reelection, in which voters allowed religion to cloud their good judgement and acted against their own self-interest.

Ran over a piece of metal debris on 520 this morning. I had no time to react or room to maneuver. Big clunk. There's a good chance the tire is punctured- I don't know yet. Then I get to work 5 minutes later and my seatbelt wouldn't release. I fiddled with it for 5 minutes and finally had to wriggle out from under it. The brightside is that fresh donuts were waiting at work, so maybe the day will end okay after all.

It's nice and sunny outside. Anyone care to climb at Marymoor Rock in Redmond over a long lunch hour? I have ropes and draws, PM me or just show up at noon.

Taken to its logical conclusion, this means that birth control is illegal.

Did you want the story? If there is a point it is be careful what you flush down the toilet. A life could be at stake.

The problem is that I don't have a vanilla flavored job description. In order to sell you they need to have a clue about what you do.

At least one judge says it's murder.

In a year and a half I not only did not get a single good lead, but I got lots of junk mail in exchange.

It goes to show that you can't be too careful about who you call your "friends".

Don't waste your time with Monster, is all I can say if you are in the tech fields. It pays to network. Every good job I've ever gotten involved networking in some form.

Hey Catbird, What's a GiGi? You mean WHO is Gigi? She's one heck of a beauty. Climbs hard too. I'll have to introduce her to you some time.

I've been studying the issue for some time and have been considering the B-52 and Reverso. I've come to the same conclusion as Layton. I'll stick with my ATC and buy a GiGi. Each does best what it is designed to do and each is very simple and light.

Your post reminds me of most of the RC.com posts. They don't address the key issue, which is how and why did the cam break or even whether it broke at all. BTW, I had the larger sizes and didn't like them, so I sold them off.

I find it very difficult to have sympathy for a thief, and a stupid one at that.

This morning I heard that a man was lost in Hood Canal after falling off his jet ski. His partner made it to shore, but with hypothermia. Now, it turns out they stole the two machines and didn't know how to operate them properly. They didn't have wet suits on apparently. I nominate the one for a Darwin Award.

Ptarmigan Ridge in Winter is pretty hard core.

No drugs, alcohol, smoking or bible thumpers???
catbirdseat replied to billcoe's topic in Climbing Partners
I don't care if you use alcohol or drugs as long as you don't use them while we are climbing together. I don't care if you smoke as long as you do it down wind of my nose. I don't care if you are a bible thumper as long as you thump on your own time. I don't care if you wear a helmet, as long as you don't mind being trundled on. Wait, I didn't mean it like that. I'd never trundle on you, unless the wind was blowing in the wrong direction. -
Elevation gain from Dingford Creek to Goldmyer property is 400 ft in about 5 miles. After that it really gets steep.

You have an interesting opinion on FDR- one not shared by many.

Actually, that's how I did it. Learned that trick from my father.

I know how that job goes, having done it myself. The hard part is going under sidewalks and foundations. It probably wouldn't be considered fun by most people, especially as an alternative to drinking beer and eating nachos on Super Bowl Sunday.

And a bunch of other people saying, "if you don't trust your Aliens anymore, I'll take them off their hands". And still more people singing the praise of Aliens, while others plug their favorites (usually Zeros). It was a lot of smoke, and no fire. The most interesting parts came from the engineer types and CCH employees who talked about how Aliens and other cams are manufactured. The take home message for me was that you shouldn't trust absolutely in any ONE cam.
