  1. Hey Catbird, What's a GiGi? You mean WHO is Gigi? She's one heck of a beauty. Climbs hard too. I'll have to introduce her to you some time.
  2. I've been studying the issue for some time and have been considering the B-52 and Reverso. I've come to the same conclusion as Layton. I'll stick with my ATC and buy a GiGi. Each does best what it is designed to do and each is very simple and light.
  3. Your post reminds me of most of the RC.com posts. They don't address the key issue, which is how and why did the cam break or even whether it broke at all. BTW, I had the larger sizes and didn't like them, so I sold them off.
  4. I find it very difficult to have sympathy for a thief, and a stupid one at that.
  5. This morning I heard that a man was lost in Hood Canal after falling off his jet ski. His partner made it to shore, but with hypothermia. Now, it turns out they stole the two machines and didn't know how to operate them properly. They didn't have wet suits on apparently. I nominate the one for a Darwin Award.
  6. Ptarmigan Ridge in Winter is pretty hard core.
  7. He sure showed us.
  8. I don't care if you use alcohol or drugs as long as you don't use them while we are climbing together. I don't care if you smoke as long as you do it down wind of my nose. I don't care if you are a bible thumper as long as you thump on your own time. I don't care if you wear a helmet, as long as you don't mind being trundled on. Wait, I didn't mean it like that. I'd never trundle on you, unless the wind was blowing in the wrong direction.
  9. Elevation gain from Dingford Creek to Goldmyer property is 400 ft in about 5 miles. After that it really gets steep.
  10. You have an interesting opinion on FDR- one not shared by many.
  11. Actually, that's how I did it. Learned that trick from my father.
  12. I know how that job goes, having done it myself. The hard part is going under sidewalks and foundations. It probably wouldn't be considered fun by most people, especially as an alternative to drinking beer and eating nachos on Super Bowl Sunday.
  13. And a bunch of other people saying, "if you don't trust your Aliens anymore, I'll take them off their hands". And still more people singing the praise of Aliens, while others plug their favorites (usually Zeros). It was a lot of smoke, and no fire. The most interesting parts came from the engineer types and CCH employees who talked about how Aliens and other cams are manufactured. The take home message for me was that you shouldn't trust absolutely in any ONE cam.
  14. So who actually wrote the thing anyway, or did it just gradually evolve on the Internet over time at the hands of many authors?
  15. Trask posted almost the same thing more than two years ago and he didn't write it either.
  16. Some new poster writes that his "silver" Alien failed at the weld on a 12 ft. fall. Twelve pages of drivel ensue in the space of two days. No pictures, no explanation. Someone's got an axe to grind. There have been some strange goings on here, but I hope to not see shit like that on cc.com.
  17. Who is the putz who rates every single thread one star? Sure, that's all the most of them deserve, but this worthless person rates even the good ones one star. He/she even gave wirlwind's thread one star.
  18. Saturday, hiked the Lime Kiln Trail with dryad. Sunday, practiced self-rescue techniques in the rain with Toast, then went to the 74th St. Alehouse and had some pitchers while we dried out.
  19. Are you talking about the traverse from CJ Col to Gunsight Notch across the west facing flanks of Cascade Peak, The Triplets and Mixup? There is indeed a goat path that is reasonably easy to follow, except for one place where it helps to be a mountain goat.
  20. So what would really make the essay interesting is how these experiences may have changed you. What did you learn from them? Besides losing your girlfriend, do you harbor other regrets? What would you have done differently?
  21. We've been all over this topic before. I guess the verdict was "to each his own".
  22. Do you suppose one could actually see it as it goes by?
  23. Enjoyable? Okay, interesting. Thanks for posting it.
  24. Bawk, bawk, bawk, Abu Ghraib, bawk! The chickens are coming home to roost.
