It's pretty cool that they are working on this, but it would be more cool if we were working on it. Yes, we supposedly have a military version called Aurora, but I doubt it solves any of the problems that led to the demise of the Concord. Story I'm curious as to the reasons why they would use a rocket to test the aerodynamics of the air frame rather than use the jet engines they've already developed. Is it because they don't want to risk losing the air frame and the engines in the same crash?

Damn good thing you were wearing a helmet! Looks like blue from the helmet transferred to your head. So, was it the lower edge of the helmet that gouged the wound in your neck? Basically, you took a FF 2 fall onto the belay, which is the worst sort of fall you can take. The other day I was ridiculed for putting a nut in 6 ft above the belay when there was a bolt only 12 away and easy moves. It's stories like yours that explains why I do that.

The event was sparsely attended, but four showed up. Mattp, knotzen, duroxmanie, and catbirdseat between us managed to climb Cornucopia, Big Tree 1, and Total Soul. I saw the new kiosk for the first time. It looks pretty sharp. I noticed there were quite a few names in the trail register. This is a good thing. If you go, by all means sign in. It tells the Forest Service that we are there and that we use the resource.

It's amazing how well people handle a few words of advice if you just use some simple words like please and thank you. People want to do the right thing. It's hard to believe, but they just don't know they are doing something wrong.

You might send a PM to ncacademtns. He lives in Mill Creek and might have a room to let and he just got his EMS cert, so he at least might be able to clue you in on that and jobs.

I seem to remember that the remains were found two years ago and that identification was through DNA fingerprinting. Can anyone find that?

My attitude is "but for the grace of God go I". I wouldn't want to judge someone for wanting to ensure they got back to their wife and kids in one piece.

Given what I wrote above, can anyone offer some suggestions for multipitch (or single pitch) routes that I might enjoy on my next visit? Other "must do" routes up to 5.10b. I might be going back in another week. I'd need a partner though.

First of all, this should be in Climbers forum, unless it is a troll. Since you know who the owner of the gear is, it would be unethical for you to booty the gear. But the owner would be expected to at least buy you a beer if not dinner if you returned it to him.
