  1. We've seen it. Osman doing Bear's Reach.
  2. Not counting summer jobs before college graduation: Newport Pharmaceuticals Baxter Pharmaseal Whitby Research Oculon Allergan Cell Therapeutics Optiva Cerep NeoRx Blue Heron Biotechnology Currently at Minx's old company.
  3. Starting in two weeks I will be making regular evening trips out to Exit 38 and Exit 32. We'll have a group with a wide range of abilities. You are welcome to join us.
  4. Silly me, but I must ask who would want to hang dog on a skinny rope? That's what fat ropes are for.
  5. That is subjective thing, now, isn't it?
  6. Dude, wrong thread. You want the "Synonym Thread".
  7. Are you going to chart this one out for us, just so we understand where you are coming from?
  8. I think of the above as an interesting intellectual exercise. It's what happens when you try to be perfect, that is take an idea to it's ultimate conclusion. You start forgetting about other important things like timeliness.
  9. Glad you got the X-Rays to prove the implants are not screw drivers.
  10. I want some of whatever it is you are on.
  11. I think the question should be: do you prefer rain or choss? Sounds like one of those damn compromises again.
  12. I built that anchor and it took me 10 minutes to get it right in the comfort of my own living room. I'm sure I could get it down to 5 minutes, but lordy, it's a PITA. So the reason for the two biners is apparently to guard against the total failure of one side of the anchor, in which case a single biner on both strands would slide off. But why not just clip both strands using one biner and put a twist in one of the strands, same as for a sliding x?
  13. As complex as it appears, should think one could set up quickly with practice. If all you had was a thin crack and 4 RPs, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing, especially if it were vertical.
  14. If you consider that JL was, at one time, strong enough to pick up a climber with one arm, maybe belaying by hand would not have been so dangerous after all.
  15. One way of looking at extension is that you can compare it to your hypothetical 20 foot FF2 fall. How is an extra 2 feet of extension going to make it any worse?
  16. Coat? You must mean GOAT. Do you have a fucking-goat?
  17. THAT STUPID COAT RACK WOULDN'T HOLD A FACTOR .001 FALL!!! YOU WILL DIE!!! Are those ordinary figure eight knots? Why do you need separate locking bines on the power point?
  18. GRAMMAR POLICE! If you are going to use a 50-cent word, use it correctly. The parts compose the whole and the whole comprises the parts. But comprise rhymes with compromise. I am not worthy, Mr. Fox.
  19. Mr. Fox is complaining about lack of the highly nuanced Ennui Gremlin when we don't even have the means to express such basic functions as vomiting.
  20. spend or save urbs or suburbs private school public school home school one income or two Happy? The interesting thing about private/public schools is how people make the choice. Some people see socialization as very important, while others don't.
  21. Everyone who can use the word "ennui" in a sentence, raise your hand. I really think such foreign words are so passe.
  22. I see that clearly some of you are not encumbered by the thought process. We are not talking here about simple choice or preference. We are talking about a choice in which you are forced to give up something to get something else. The Earthquake/Hurricane analogy works because except for New England, any place you live in the US has either eartquakes or hurricanes. Not sure if any location really has both (California has seen hurricane, but not since 1938).
  23. There you go. So true. Marriage and security/boredom versus single and uncertainty/freedom.
  24. That's true of large parts of the US, but there are places where there are neither.
  25. He'd done the technical part of the descent before he fell into the crevasse.
