  1. Yes! Regarding this quote, I was going to ask Tomtom " What the hell is wrong with you?" and I wanted to point out what a dick like post that was, but now, as you are correctly suggesting Goatboy, I will not. Whoa. Aren't you hard core. Come on Tom tom.
  2. What the hell is wrong with you?
  3. New report to an old story, I added the bold: "22 October 2010 Last updated at 10:20 ET Kelly wounds 'self-inflicted', says pathology report Dr David Kelly in 2003 Dr Kelly was the source of a BBC report casting doubt on government claims about Iraq's weapons Previously secret evidence about the death of Iraq weapons expert Dr David Kelly suggests that he died as a result of a "self-inflicted injury". The post-mortem report into his 2003 death blamed blood loss after cuts to his left wrist, aided by a painkiller overdose and "silent" heart disease. The report backs up Lord Hutton's verdict that he committed suicide. Two doctors who cast doubt on the case have come to opposing conclusions about whether their questions are answered. Professor Julian Bion told BBC Radio 5 Live the newly published report "certainly satisfied" him that the cause of death given was the correct one. But former coroner Dr Michael Powers said many issues had still not been addressed. The report was published on Friday, as ministers sought to end speculation over his death. Public interest A group of doctors have been calling for the case to be reopened, arguing that the suicide verdict was unsafe. Dr Kelly's body was found in woods close to his Oxfordshire home in 2003, after it was revealed he had provided the information for a BBC News story casting doubt on the government's claim that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction capable of being fired within 45 minutes. There is no pathological evidence that this man has been subjected to a sustained, violent assault prior to his death” Instead of a coroner's inquest, then Prime Minister Tony Blair asked Lord Hutton to conduct an investigation, which found Dr Kelly had died from blood loss after slashing his wrist with a knife. Lord Hutton requested that the details of the post-mortem examination and toxicology tests be classified for 70 years - to protect the privacy of the Kelly family. But the Ministry of Justice said it was now releasing the details "in the interests of maintaining public confidence" in Lord Hutton's conclusions. "While I firmly believe that the publication of these documents is in the public interest, I am mindful that the contents may be distressing," Justice Secretary Ken Clarke said, urging people to respect the Kelly family's privacy. 'Loss of blood' In the post-mortem, Home Office pathologist Dr Nicholas Hunt noted that wounds to Dr Kelly's left wrist resulted in "the loss of a significant volume of blood". They were "entirely consistent with having been inflicted with a bladed weapon" while "their orientation and arrangement...are typical of self-inflicted injury", he concluded. Among the factors he believes indicated suicide, Dr Hunt said the removal of Dr Kelly's watch and spectacles are "features pointing towards this being an act of self-harm," as is the "relatively passive distribution of blood and....the lack of obvious signs of trampling of the undergrowth or damage to clothing". Furthermore, there was also a "total lack of classical defence wounds against a sharp weapon attack". The toxicology report by forensic scientist Alexander Allan showed a high concentration of paracetamol and dextropropoxyphene in Dr Kelly's blood. The two make up co-proxamol - a prescription-only drug for pain treatment. 'Considerable' overdose Campaigners have questioned whether the painkillers in Dr Kelly's system were enough to cause death - and Dr Hunt says in his report that "the levels of paracetamol and dextropropoxyphene in the blood are not particularly high and may not ordinarily have caused death in their own right". But he adds that dextropropoxyphene can cause fatal heart rhythm abnormalities in people with low blood pressure as a result of bleeding. The toxicology report concluded Dr Kelly took a "considerable" overdose of the drug but he had died before all the paracetamol had been absorbed into his system. Thee was "nothing new" in the post-mortem report, Dr Powers said, and issues such as the amount of blood at the scene and uncertainty over the number of pills Dr Kelly had taken had not been resolved. "If he were only to have taken six to eight tablets, what does that say about his intent to take his own life?" he said. "I don't believe any of the evidence we have seen or heard to date can answer those questions." However Prof Bion said he found the report "convincing." In a statement, Lord Hutton said there had never been any secrecy about the post-mortem report as lawyers had had access to it during his inquiry. A spokesman for the Kelly family said he hoped that the documents' release would end speculation about the scientist's death."
  4. "Political correctness can lead to some kind of paralysis where you don't address reality. " LOL! Great Slate version talking over the full meal deal: "Shirley Sherrod, meet Juan Williams. Three months ago, right-wingers clipped a video of Sherrod to make her look like a racist. They circulated the video on the Internet, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture fired her. Now it's happening again. This time, left-wingers have done the editing. They clipped a video of Juan Williams, a commentator for Fox News and NPR, to make him look like an anti-Muslim bigot. They circulated the video on the Internet, and last night, NPR fired him. According to NPR and the New York Times, the termination of Williams' contract was based on the following comments, delivered by Williams on The O'Reilly Factor Monday night: I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous. Now, I remember also that when the Times Square bomber was at court, I think this was just last week. He said the war with Muslims, America's war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I don't think there's any way to get away from these facts. In its statement announcing Williams' termination, NPR said: "His remarks on The O'Reilly Factor this past Monday were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR." (You can read NPR's full statement here.) The passage quoted by NPR and the Times is a dead ringer for a video clip of Williams, branded and distributed by Think Progress. The clip, which cleverly isolates the offending comment, has circulated among left-wing Web sites, just as the Sherrod clip circulated among right-wing sites. (The Washington Post also directs readers to the clip.) But the full transcript of Williams' appearance on The O'Reilly Factor, like the full video of Sherrod's speech to the NAACP, tells a much more complicated story. On the program, Williams was responding to host Bill O'Reilly, who had gotten into trouble for comments about Islam and terrorism. In his initial answer, Williams said exactly what the video excerpt shows: that he worries when he sees passengers in Muslim garb, and that the Times Square bomber declared a U.S. war with Muslims. Williams is right about the bomber. When Faisal Shahzad pled guilty in the Times Square plot, he told the court: "Brace yourselves, because the war with Muslims has just begun. Consider me only a first droplet of the flood that will follow me." That isn't a legitimate basis for judging all Muslims. But it is, as Williams said, a fact. And Williams' confession that he fears religious Muslims isn't necessarily an endorsement of bigotry. Remember what Jesse Jackson said 17 years ago: "There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery—then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved." Sometimes a confession of prejudice is part of a larger reflection on the perils of prejudice. That was true of Sherrod. And it's true of Williams. The damning video clip of Williams, like the damning clip of Sherrod, cuts off the speaker just as he's about to reverse course. According to the full transcript, immediately after saying, "I don't think there's any way to get away from these facts," Williams continues: "But I think there are people who want to somehow remind us all as President Bush did after 9/11, it's not a war against Islam." That continuation has been conveniently snipped from the excerpt. A few seconds later, Williams challenges O'Reilly's suggestion that "the Muslims attacked us on 9/11." Williams points out how wrong it would be to generalize similarly about Christians: Hold on, because if you said Timothy McVeigh, the Atlanta bomber, these people who are protesting against homosexuality at military funerals—very obnoxious—you don't say first and foremost, "We got a problem with Christians." That's crazy. Williams reminds O'Reilly that "there are good Muslims." A short while later, O'Reilly asks: "Juan, who is posing a problem in Germany? Is it the Muslims who have come there, or the Germans?" Williams refuses to play the group blame game. "See, you did it again," he tells O'Reilly. "It's extremists." Williams warns O'Reilly that televised statements about Muslims as a group can foment bigotry and violence. "The other day in New York, some guy cuts a Muslim cabby's neck," Williams reminds him. "Or you think about the protest at the mosque near Ground Zero … We don't want, in America, people to have their rights violated, to be attacked on the street because they heard rhetoric from Bill O'Reilly." I'm not saying Williams is the world's most enlightened guy. He's wrong, for example, about the proposed Islamic Center near Ground Zero. And it's certainly unsettling to hear him admit that he worries when he sees Muslims in distinctive dress. But admitting such fears doesn't make you a bigot. Sometimes, to work through your fears, you have to face them honestly. You have to think through the perils of acting on those fears. And you have to explain to others why they, too, should transcend their anxieties or resentments and treat people as individuals. That's what Shirley Sherrod did in her speech to the NAACP. It's what Juan Williams did in his interview on Fox News. It was wrong of conservatives to take Sherrod's remarks out of context. It's just as wrong of liberals to do the same to Williams. The USDA, after reviewing Sherrod's remarks in their entirety, offered to rehire her. Now it's your turn, NPR." Here: http://www.slate.com/toolbar.aspx?action=print&id=2271931

  6. So are you saying that they should have just cut his hours 84% (private) so he worked 16 % (gov't pay) of the time? make joke heh heh
  7. Bullshit, he was on The Bill O'Rielly show "O'Reilly Factor": which no one but and a moron or you has ever confused as a news program. It's has never claimed to be fair or balanced. Even Whoopi Goldberg is calling bullshit on this firing. PS, I've never watched an entire "O'Reilly Factor" and can't stand the guy when I'm flipping the radio and catch part of it, but wished I'd seen this one show to really make a better determination. I have caught the Fox news show some Sundays when it's too wet for hiking or climbing and have always appreciated the honesty, intelligence and integrity that Juan Williams seems to bring to his arguments. Whoh edit, same time post, multiple K's and I are as one on this one.
  8. I might have to watch Saturday Night Live to see what they do with this. Maybe that blond chick can be Chris Wallace as moderator. No Political Respect or Tolerance You'd think he'd know better than not toe the party line. Retrogressive Libtards have no tolerance for any other viewpoint if our own jb has been any indication.
  9. Good on your snowmanjim! This might apply to Larry as well, the meat of the post is towards the bottom, I bolded the text. From: http://www.westernslopenofee.org/ "RED ROCK PASS DECISION STANDS FIRM The Forest Service allowed the deadline for filing an appeal in the case of U.S. v Smith to expire without acting. This confirms the decision by U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Aspey that the Red Rock Pass fee area surrounding Sedona, Arizona is significantly out of compliance with federal law. The Coconino National Forest responded with a press release that's downright breathtaking in its audacity: "Red Rock Country Continues To Be A Fee Area." The press release disregards the Judge's description of the Forest Service's interpretation of the law as "absurd" and simply lists all the - supposedly wonderful - ways they spend the money. That's a little like a thief claiming it's all right to steal if you also donate to the United Way. The Coconino "is reviewing the area to determine appropriate changes in light of the court's decision" so perhaps - in time - they will get the message and bring the Sedona area into compliance with federal law. Meanwhile, anyone - in Sedona or anywhere else - who receives a Violation Notice, and who was not using a developed facility, would be well advised to read the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, review Judge Aspey's Decision, and consider whether their circumstances warrant asking for their Violation Notice to be dismissed, citing U.S. v Smith as precedent. DON'T BE FOOLED BY A NeRF! If you receive - in Sedona or anywhere else - something that looks like a ticket but does not say "Violation Notice," it is not a ticket! The Forest Service uses a device called a Notice Of Required Fee (NRF) to intimidate people into paying fees without the burden of having to prove in court that the fee is authorized or that the accused is guilty of not paying it. An NRF might as well be called a NERF - it carries about the same punch as a nerf ball. An NRF is NOT A TICKET! Much more about NRFs in Bill Schneider's latest piece for NewWest.net: Forest Service Moves To Intimidation To Collect More Entrance Fees. "
  10. LOL! We have always been at war with Oceania.
  11. Thanks Kellie! This is being discussed on this thread as well. http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/983794/gonew/1/SKULL_HOLLOW_SOLD_OUT#UNREAD I don't know if Kitty has that right - that is, if "passing out of federal hands: is accurate if they are in fact only leasing it, not selling it, to private companies. I'm musing if there might possibly be some good come out of this. Say, perhaps actual improvements that might justify the cost of staying there?
  12. http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2010/10/woman_who_went_missing_while_picking_mushrooms_found_early_this_morning.html Sonn Souv, a 93-year-old Newberg woman who went missing Tuesday while mushroom picking in Washington's Gifford Pinchot National Forest, was found alive and well early this morning. When searchers found her, Souv had covered herself with brush and bark to keep warm, Skamania County authorities said. She was found in an area thick with underbrush and timber. She was located about 3/10ths of a mile east of the base of search operations. Souv suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital as a precaution. Souv was reported missing by her family at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. She had been picking mushrooms near the Salt Creek Trailhead on the Forest Service Road 8031. Dave Cox, undersheriff of Skamania County, said Souv, who is originally from Cambodia, is physically disabled hearing impaired. He said she got lost in thick brush and decided to stay put. "She couldn't hear anything," Cox said, adding that Souv did see a search helicopter circling the area. "I'll tell you what -- a hardy gal," Cox said. "We're really thankful we found her." -- The Oregonian
  13. FOR THOSE WHO CARE (I did the full copy/paste thing, not a word below the next period is mine). "The Ochoco National Forest received approval in October 2009 from the Pacific NW Recreation Resource Advisory Committee to begin charging a $5 fee for camping at Skull Hollow Campground near Smith Rock. This was done over significant objection from the climbing community, who are the primary users of the site. The Forest justified the fee as necessary to operate and maintain the campground to standard and provide increased security. Now they are including Skull Hollow in a prospectus for sites to be turned over to a private for-profit concessionaire to operate. Concessionaires will be invited to bid on what they will charge the public, and you can pretty much bet it will be a lot more than $5. The funds will flow to the private firm, with only a small percentage being paid to the Forest as a franchise fee. Often concessionaires offset franchise fees by performing in-kind work, in which case little or no cash flows to the Forest. The process of turning a facility over to concessionaire management is done internally and administratively, with no public notice. No public comment is solicited either on whether to do it or on how much the concessionaire's fees should be. Future increases in fees are approved administratively, with no public notice, comment, or input, and no advisory committee approval required. I thought you would like to be made aware of this impending change. Skull Hollow Campground is, for all practical purposes, about to pass out of federal hands, probably forever. If the local climbing community has any influence with the Forest, use it now or forever hold your peace. Here is the Ochoco's letter: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/passes/documents/Notification%20ltr%2007.15.10.pdf -- Kitty Benzar President Western Slope No-Fee Coalition PO. 14. sold sold sold sold BLAMMMMO! Roberto, the range is calling. We have a huge crunch thing at work, but we should go out next Wednesday mid-day.
  15. Schweet! Most exellent TR! Last time or 2 down there, I'm sitting a casino with my bro, they have this thing going whereby half naked girls are dealing the cards, it's pretty good: anyway, there are 2 other dudes at the table that seem familiarish......We're all playing, drinking and bullshitting while the girls successfully stoke and stroke our egos, generally having a great time together, visiting and chatting while we play. I see that one has a Prana shirt on and I go: "Climbers?". The other one looks right at me and goes "Bill"? I'm thinking like "shit, I think this guy is familiar...." Introductions, they are both CC.comers, one of whom I'd climbed with -WallaWalla Kenny. Seen here in the picture I'd taken @ the year before out climbing: The other was Jlaq. They were finished and heading out (well, that was their story) or we probably would have tied in. I'm heading down the end of this month with Ujahn and Adam. Wish I was in better shape. Adam wants to run up Epinephrine and Ujahn and I probably aren't up for the thing this trip.
  16. Hellowwwww Arch! Sorry all, I was looking for the loooong house cat thread. I'll put this here anyway. From: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/39752347/ns/today-today_pets_and_animals/ "A cat in Reno has broken the Guinness world record for world's longest domestic cat. The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that a 5-year-old Maine Coon named Stewie was certified as the new record holder after measuring 48.5 inches from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail bone. That's a little more than 4 feet long." If it would start eating it's way through some large Costco sized cat food sacks, we'd have a long and big one.
  17. ..damn...Rob, I forgot the most inportant part. You need to wear a tagiyah or shemagh and say that you represent Saudi Arabia. An Italian restaurant tablecloth will work double duty for this. Say "Abu Akbar" a few times or something like that as you are waving your arms around. Perhaps add a sword for authenticity. Works every time! TODAYS HOT SAUDI NEWZ! Probably they first had a serious heart to heart talk about our mutual hemorrhoid: Iran. Be interesting to be a fly on that wall to see the haggling and bargaining involved. I'd imagine we got something. Bases? Communications? sumpin sumpin.
  18. That's a point I often make as well....with a few spelling changes. BTW, the republican tent is big enough to allow all kinds of whack jobs a large enough umbrella of divergent issues to hang underneath. Yet I just pulled up the GOP platform and I surprised what I read. I think that they tried to be as general as possible so as not to alienate people. Here: http://www.gop.com/index.php/issues/issues/ they don't say a word about getting the rents down either.
  19. You can nodder, place an order with the Air Force for the "Stealthtard". Then pony up the couple of billion dollars (they use to get them for $1,200,000,000 but it's probably gone up, much like groceries and gas). Best if you just walk into the Pentagon and ask them this directly though. They prefer the face to face contact. Talk loudly, use exaggerated hand gestures and repeat yourself often as they don't hear well.
  20. LOL .... don't tell Olvesky (Piton Ron) that this damn ship is available or he'll pick one up and be trying to moor one somewhere in Utah.

    Hey Republifucks!

No question. Have you seen the recent deals that the big 4 banks have worked out? You'll see it coming up on the profit and loss statements soon. Citi just reported. The TARP money that they got from us with no interest got loaned out to overseas banks at interest and the banks are very happy at the transfer of wealth from your pockets to theirs. Once they get the wealth concentrated too much, sadly, it's gonna be a scorched earth thing as the economy tanks. It's one of the reasons I'm a "gun nut" jb, because franky, I trust you and people like you with weapons and the power those weapons represent, sight unseen, more than any power hungry politician or a massive backdealing group of corporations trying to influence the politicians.
  22. The English have a brand new Aircraft Carrier for sale. No kidding. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/defence/8072041/Navy-aircraft-carrier-will-be-sold-after-three-years-and-never-carry-jets.html Nobody's making us buy that. Maybe if we all get together, pool our resources and scrape up the scratch....

    Hey Republifucks!

I have not changed my position on this. It is perhaps the first time you have read past my first 3 words? In fact jb, when I say I want smaller government and lower expenditures, I believe that you read that to be "NO" government and you generally start your response with an insult followed by a full post of an example where gov't has done good. Not the case, never said it, don't believe that no gov't is small gov't or less intrusive gov't. Go back and read up. In fact there is nothing in your last line I disagree with. That Robert Gates can snap his fingers and yoink out 30 billion....that's BILLION dollars 30,000,000,000.00 out of the defense appropriations bill, seems to indicate that unlike Britain, which has chosen to NOT use their newest aircraft carrier to launch any aircraft but to put it directly into permanent mothballs, no one here has looked very hard at slashing anything military and that's the largest place to start. Concerning the loss of American mfg jobs, I personally see it and feel it in my bank account. I've seen bipartisan efforts at free trade agreements going back a long way, certainly Clinton with NAFTA and China agreements is in there with any repub on free trade issues. I don't know what to do about it as I generally have seen many examples over the years wherein free trade benefits all parties. Moving on, as I said earlier, I am happy that President Obama has publicly announced that getting the deficit lower (didn't say balancing anything that I have seen) is becoming an issue. Hopefully the truck gets the brakes put on before it's too late and it goes over the cliff. Regards to all...no matter if you voted republifuck, demofuck or libertarfuck. I've done all in my time as I've posted here previous.
  24. DAVE, Does this mean you're not bringing your blow up intimate sex sheep, the "LUV EWE", that was the hit of the party till it started looking like a glazed donut late in the evening? ...Bastard.
