  1. Maybe this one will do better at cheering you up: Vita nostra brevis est Brevi finietur. Venit mors velociter Rapit nos atrociter Nemini parcetur means: Our life is brief It will be finished shortly. Death comes quickly Atrociously, it snatches us away. No one is spared. ______________________________________________________ Live long and prosper.
  2. Gaudeamus igitur Juvenes dum sumus Post jucundum juventutem Post molestam senectutem Nos habebit humus. means Let us rejoice therefore While we are young. After a pleasant youth After a troublesome old age The earth will have us.
  3. Chop chop or Extreeeeeme squeeze job? BTW, these are older dudes and not just young kids who just stepped out of a gym. I'll bet that one guy is as old as you JH.
  4. I apologise again. I said the word "Bastard". Link to inappropriate use of language I will try harder.
  5. I got 1 pitch in. ONE. And a damn short one too, but it was reallllllll fun! Probably still have the remnants of stingers in my blue shirt up there, except this was taken the week previous me leading the FA of this one. Put a bolt in right above where I am there. It's steeper than it appears in the pic, all arms above on the crux. Still, consensus 5.8 is all. For Saturdays expedition I only followed this line, so it was even more casual. Still have the stinger marks and swelling (a bit still) 2 days later as I sit here and type. Bastards. They paid. Ohhh baby did they. "The Move" Course the hornet stings helped me make up my mind about not climbing Sunday. The fine gentlemen I was out with were totally trashed and beat, and they canceled Sun as well, so it wasn't all hornets.
  6. http://ropedup.wordpress.com/2007/07/10/how-to-lock-off-belay-device/ see "Mule Knot on ATC" for tying off your leader when he bonks his noggin and takes a nap...you get out of the belay, go through his pack, and grab the cool stuff and pliz watch your language, I am an innocent & naive newbie barely weaned from his momma's apron strings Ahhh OK. BTW Thanks for the reminder, my son was saying something similar yesterday. BTW, never had to do the mule knot, but I'd just prussic it off to the anchor, tie a backup knot and slip out of the whole mess if I had too.
  7. Working on my wildlife understanding skills. @ 2000 hornets and I had a 15 second conversation. Basically we agreed that our communication skills are poor to non-existent. I don't understand their buzzing noise and need for space very well, and they seem to think that loud little girl screams and arm waving means sting some more I think. I can't count the stings, but it looks to be over 200 for sure. I suppose it would have been a 2 day weekend, but it just seemed like taking Sunday off and watch the swelling would be easier. Went for a bike ride with family and stayed on pavement.
  8. "Tie off"? "Just not enough room for the pass-through loop"? Other site? You have link or explanation? (Former F*word) I'm just old I don't know what the (Former F*word) you're talkin' about.
  9. BTW, speaking of shaving weight, the Trango Superfly locker weight is 41 gms! It's almost too small, and you definatly cannot use it for HMS style, but damn thats a light locker. I have 5 coming right now to me. From REI site: "At 41 grams, the Trango SuperFly Screwlock carabiner is one of the lightest lockers available. * Ideal for setting up anchors, the traditional screwgate locking method makes this carabiner extremely versatile * Get a few and add them to the rope end of a couple of your 'draws with no worries about coming unclipped * Large gate opening eases clip in; asymmetric shape helps ensure proper loading on optimal working axis and offers a superb strength-to-weight ratio"
  10. Good call. I tossed my heavy stuff and bought a couple of DMM Sentinels. At that time they were the lightest out there, plus I like the quality. Specs: Weight: 48g (I've seen 54 gms on the DMM site as well) Major Axis Strength: 24kN Gate Open Strength: 7kN Minor Axis Strength: 8kN Gate Clearance: 18mm DMM site says: "The Sentinel is the lightest mini HMS on the market, it was designed to compliment the Bugette yet also works well with the "Bug" and the new "V Twin" . It fit's snugly on most belay loops reducing the likely hood of cross loading. It's deep basket and good gate opening make it a fantastic and versatile rigging biner too. The Sentinel utilises I Beam technology a process where our designers have optimised the aluminium needed to create light but incredibly strong carabiners. It is also anodised for protection against the elements especially coastal and rigorous mountain enviroments." It works OK for HMS belaying and rapping. (little small for rapping, but it works).
  11. Extreeeeeeeeme squeeze job at a local PDX/Van crag.
  12. John: this looks to be shaping up to be a 2 keg event. Nice job.

The gamers version of a climber saying: (to the widow) "Hey, can I have his rack".
  14. I might be up for it on a rest day.
  15. Well your smiling face and happy visage are always enough for me to show up. The snacks are of course a nice bonus. I'll see you there. It's more fun to pick up trash with others too.
  16. The thread on fight or flight made me ruminate: has anyone out there noticed any of your freedoms were taken away ? What are they? I posted a pic of the man some of you are claiming is responsible, you can see he's a friendly pet owner.
  17. Looks like it's "ON" for sure now.
  18. Sorry Torg: small point of order but aren't you suppose to do a "Hey thats pretty good" right before a beat-down?
  19. Anyone get this off Yard sale thread yet? or the other 3 spam threads the dude started and are left up?

  21. Me too! It's just that I was reading your post when I posted. Sorry, wasn't directing it at you. Any whooo, I'm done talkin about this one. if the kids or the family ever later googles dads name and trips over this shit, well, all this just will look like a big pile O stupid meaningless shit to them.
  22. Don't know where all you Hosers went. Mike, Ujahn and I had the place to ourselves. It was friggan perfect!
  23. Kosher cigarette Dawg?
  24. I have the feeling some of you folks are about to start lobbing rocks at each other to make your points. The widow spoke to the authorities about the course of action she thought was best. She did this after talking to other family members. It wasn't MY course of action. (I'm a vengeful prick generally) It was not YOUR course of action. But it wasn't our call then was it? Who the hell are any of you to tell her to STFU?
  25. 4 years old? What does he have super spidey strength or sumptin? Added/edited: Sorry, I was thinking a big kid. And steel cable. 3-4 year olds are still so cute and innocent. For the record, I don't beat my own kids, you realy never need too: but sometimes I've gotten so in there faces that I think they wish they could have just gotten it over with. My wife can sound like a harpy as well when she wants, and between the 2 of us, the kids prefer us happy and are real nice kids to avoid the concentrated tag team intensity we can both bring when needed.
