Heard the gentleman who wrote a recent book say that the reason for the Watergate wiretapping (which led to the break in and cover up which in turn led to Nixon's resignation and jail time for his cronies and advisor's) Was because the Republicans were trying to gather evidence that the Democratic National Committee was hiring hookers for the DNC convention attendees. Hookers should be legalized anyway. I found it an interesting statement.

Bring a link or a copy of some new artical with this will ya Jim, it makes your words and beliefs then have some truth and substance, and can lead to true and real knowledge gains for all of us. When i read folks like Bstatch up there spouting off unfounded opinions that are not even well thought out ones, I stop listening and reading. Why bother to even post a response? If he wants to believe in anything he can dream up - and just toss it out like it's the truth, thats fine for him, when he can't link an artical or story, it's not worth my time. Welcome to the discussion.

From my experience, the safest and best (NOT THE FASTEST) way to do it is take the full Mountaineers course. reading books is an adjunt to that, not a replacement for it. If you can do the guide thing AND hook up with a reliable mentor afterwards, that would be first choice, but getting an experienced dude to let you dog him will be rare and unusual.

Oh, ok. What kind of gun? BTW, aren't all those Harley ridin dudes now old and fat anyway?

When I was in the military, we could think anything or anyway we wanted. We were still US citizens who have a huge stake in how some of the kinds of things that get so easily and falsely tossed about on this board turned out. You still had a job that needed to get done, as do you Kev right now. I suspect it isn't any difference for Scott or folks in the military now.

Titled: "Why I Will Not Vote for John McCain" link It's a thoughtful discourse and worth reading. Wonder who he's gonna vote for? Doesn't say he'll vote for the next President, Obama: maybe Lyndon Larouche?

Well said. But not well thought out or true.

Uhhh, Hello?!! WAKE UP Hello?!!KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK , I thought it was an obvious, witty and oblique reference to Patty Murphy's person to person, door to door, tennis shoe groundswell campaign ...clearly a wasted reference at that...sigh.... I'll try the front door next time as no one appears to be home at the side door. Sigh.....like pearls before swine....

I hate this fucking bullshit patriotic line. Total crap. Not everyone can be an astronaut. Not everyone can be president. Not everyone can do what they want to do. You notice the only people who say shit like that are the lucky few who actually get to do what they want to do? You are my inspiration for living rob. I want a couch just like yours. Yes, no one in this country can get ahead or better themselves so why even try, goals, hard work and dreams are for losers eh Rob? All one really needs is a couch like Bug says, and a wide screen tv with cable. Live your life: then die: thats all there is.

If you truly believe that statement 100%, it shows you to have lots of "Nonsense!" inside your head. Nobody can know that for a absolute fact, and although I tend to agree with your statement, there is plenty of evidence to indicate the opposite of what you just said. Had you phrased it "we most likely would have been safer, richer and fewer people would have died had we not gone to Iraq. Those holding defense contractor or oil stocks would be a little poorer, but the rest of us would be better off." I'd be in agreement. That you totally ignore all the evidence not to your liking reflects poorly on your thought process's IMO. Yet we spent the money and the lives...to walk away now and allow it to disintegrate into a sectarian violent hell does a disservice to the Iraqis and the region, and furthermore weakens us in all future negotiations with all countries in the world, both friend and foe, in my view. It could be that Bush is dyslexic and misread the Roosevelt diatribe "Walk softly and carry a big stick" backasswards, but regardless, where do you go from here: what is the best case scenario is the big question that remains. Even Obama has changed and swapped his view. Formerly, he had stated we should pull out immediately. His current opinion has softened substantially, and I think it's due to as he is getting more information on the subject, he has become wiser.

Total agreement. I take issue in that there are honest immigrants who have filled out the paperwork and are patiently waiting...and waiting...and waiting for legal entry. Yet they are getting shit on and walked over and elbowed out of the way by those who would break the law, elbow their way past on of those waiting legally and jump the fence. It's wrong. Big time. Mind you, I'd be jumping the fence if it was me on the other side, but that still doesn't make it right. We're all immigrants one way or another anyway.

Thats awesome news. Speaking for us all, we are all wishing your mom well, and hope that this capture can ease some of the anger and anxiety this hemoroid has caused your mother and entire family.

That's nothing to worry about. POOF it's over. In China, they believe that on occasion, evil spirits will try to pull your penis back inside of you. There isn't much to do about this terrifying issue, on occasion you just lose your penis it's been reported. This has led to cases where relatives, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews have had to help prevent this by taking turns pulling on the penis to keep it on the outside of a person .....for days!

Well, what DD says is true. You need to hear some of this from outside of the spray forum. Hillary called my house (recorded message) a few months ago, and I got a Barak Obama letter today. I learned from Barak that if I will just send him some money, then everything will turn out just fine with ...well...everything. Furthermore, I got some Lyndon Larouch literature today as well that claims that the billionaire "Golem" George Soros is financing Obama, and that he was not only a Nazi sympathizer, but helped steal the Jews worldly possessions by posing as a Christian despite he being Jewish. This is just today I got all this. Still trying to put it together, but it looks like I can cut out the middleman and send my check for $100 directly to Soros himself in order to effect change. Wonder what kind of change thats going to be? Ya got to stay open to all this stuff Lucky, or next thing ya know, some housewife is on your porch looking for her tennis shoes and asking for $10 so she can run for governator.

It's difficult to reconstruct exactly what happened, but the safe bet that what caused the lack of easy transition is that before day one the Sec of Defense overode the head of the joint chiefs and decreed that light and tight was the operational mode of the day. General Shinseke was advocating like 400,000+ troops (going from memory here) and Donald Rumsfeld personally won the power struggle dictating less. General Shinseki was then either asked to step down, or volentered to do so rather than be relieved of command given his lack of mandate. Turns out that the General was right and Rumsfeld was wrong. They needed the extra troops for all kinds of reasons. Hard to say who was pushing which operational plan before hand. In my mind that doesn't give us any clue as to where we need to go from here to follow the best course of action. Certainly Vietnam was was an example where the political leaders like Secretary of Defense Mcnamara started micromanaging folks like General Westmoreland much to their later chagrin. Letting Petraeus do his job, which he has clearly layed out, is the best course forward IMO. We may have been stupid and childish to enter as we did, but that doesn't mean pulling out half assed is the best course of action from here. BTW, allowing and conceding to the Russians some security issues near and dear to them would be a good thing going forward as well.

Never met you bro, but here's to a future pint or 2, I'll buy the first round. Thank you for the steady nerves and calm words. When you're not yelling at folks you seem like a good sort.

I think that this has theater wide implications for even those who are our "friends" and not democracies. Anyone who has tracked the US imports of oil from Saudi Arabia have seen them drop off the list of top oil imports to us. Our government sees that ticking time bomb which represents a huge economic force to our and the worlds economy and is looking ahead a few years. From my perspective, I thought that the early prosecution of the war, as in how we started and got into it, was one of the more horrendous things I've seen my gov't do. I carry some bitterness of the initiation of that whole thing. That you, my brothers, overwhelmingly and totally supported it then after the early success after running in there like Leroy Jenkins all akimbo, seemed crazy to me then and now (yet understandable). It shows weak minds and weak will. That the stakes are huge is undeniable, and I would hope that once we've collectively jumped off the cliff like we have, then stay tucked up till ya hit the water or your nuts will go splat. Which translates loosely to stop whining about Iraq and STFU. We MUST successfully pull this off. It's huge and we already spent the money and the lives. Somehow many of you feel that whining and complaining on public boards translates to something like intellectual discourse. It isn't and it doesn't. It marks you as pussies. It shows weak minds and weak will. So STFU and sack up - don't fuck this up for the rest of us. Thats my take. And here we all sit in a ricketty old wooden tub heading towards the massive and thundering waterfalls, without any energy policy of record still.....wondering if conservation will become the watchword only after we finally and fatally pitch collectively, with our kids and all we hold near and dear inside our leaky tub, off into the abyss.... Regards to all, here's to hoping that Obama selects Joeseph Biden as VP (who's not perfect at all, just damn good), if he does, I'll be 80-90 percent on board the Obama change train instead of outside looking in like now. Edited to add a few more words:
