  1. Not cheap, and not dirtbagging, but the some of the rentals at Eagle Crest are fantastic. You can see Monkey Face from some of the townhomes and regular houses. Not the condos.
  2. It's an upgrade from all the political stuff on this site.
  3. For most of this century in Seattle, it's been cheaper to rent a home than to buy. The difference could have been saved for the kids' college, or saved for the parent's retirement. Well apparently more people responded to "financial freedom", "American Dream", "ownership society", "independence", "ever increasing value", etc, etc. Whodathunk? You sound like a Republican tvashtarkatena....maybe even a Libertarian. Actually, both E and T have similar points Aston_justin. That is, you have to pick the odds. Go research this: if you had bought stocks at the HIGH, right before the HUGE stock market crash of 1929, and sold at the LOW in 1974. Look at that percentage return and tell me you would have preferred bonds or cash buried in the backyard like dog doo. Similarly, look at housing....as a long term investment. I bought my first house in 1979 for exactly $40,000 during a frenzied bubble. I couldn't sell it for what I owed on it for many years. The house next door, a better one at that, @4 years later, sold for $25,000. People were walking away from homes at record rates. It was a national savings and loan crisis. Many of those s & L went out of business. Research it. I had to rent it out for a small loss every month and lived in a $100 a month apartment downtown, then later moved in with a large group of people. Eventually I sold the house for almost $80,000. Research history Justin...sometimes you just get caught up in it, no matter what you do. I don' know why any of this relates to Palins possible soon to be son in law. They weren't going to get married...maybe the pressure was too much.
  4. It could be something as simple as your sock bunching up a bit on the toe. Be careful though, let it heal fully before you jump on it again or you may find the feeling gone permanently in that spot. It will most likely be more susceptible to frost bite again as well. It may be blacker than you think once some time has passed. My big bro once radically frostbit his big toe, the whole thing: maybe ice climbing, maybe xc skiing - but the Docs wanted to amputate the whole thing, and he wouldn't let them. They threatened that he would die from gangrene, but he was pretty confident. It took a while for it to come back, and it was swollen double sized and dark black, but he still has it.
  5. With many years experience outside, I say speak with authority and certainty that the toe got too cold. You're welcome. __________________________________________________________________ says: ......"My friend and I gave the grand central couloir on Kitchener a go over the weekend... made awesome time on route until I took a 40' fall... in the fall I broke my ice clippers (little plastic ice screw holders) so all our ice screws went bouncing down the mountain so we had to bail. Bust! The GCC has only been climbed twice this year but only by sponsored pro climbers... we would have been the first "common folk climbers" of the year... not to suggest it hasnt been climbed by common folk in other years... it just doesnt get a lot of traffic. I guess all the training is starting to help! "The bad news is I totally frost bite my big toe on my right foot. Gonna have to take some time off from the rock gym and also modify my gym workouts to upper body only until the toe can bear weight again. If you think of any good upper body only workouts dont hesitate to send them my way... perhaps this injury will be the key to me getting a one arm pull up! Who knows!" - John" That 2nd pic looks like a f'ed up place to fall. Good to see you still smiling. Bryans crampon marks in the shoulder heal up yet?
  6. Ha ha ha! Posted on the Crossfit site: I got it:-) Congrats to you both! TR?
  7. Next up: Fairweather turns to Al Sharpton.
  8. I'm still calling bullshit on the title Fairweather. "Obama's Plan for the Jews". Should be misnamed to "Jesse Jackson's belief of what Obama's Israel policy will be". Side note: so you've finally started believing in what Jesse Jackson is saying now hmmm? Bout time:-)
  9. Yassir, we can.

    Hey Roody.

I'm guessing that this "I told ya so" was that he had earlier told you that the Dow would recover. I'm too lazy to search it out though.
  11. Glad the bug bit him. I can remember those days and the feelings pretty vividly, despite being so many years back. If he is reading this forum, I would advise this by way of an extreme heads up. "Ben, welcome to the tribe. I love to see it when the bug strikes someone as hard as it did me those many years ago. However, climbing takes years to master good enough to not kill yourself. Often, it is only in retrospect that one learns they stepped over that line of safety, and it is often learned via a tragedy. It can be done in a (relatively) safe manner, but only after an extensive mentorship or quality classes like the Mazamas programs. Your first 2 years are the most dangerous, so remember this - and stick around experienced folks and learn all you can so as to not get yourself killed." Later, once you truly learn where the line is, you can often do what appears to an outside as absurdly dangerous things much more safely than what a beginner on easy ground encounters. You won't learn that till much later, but starting out is the most dangerous time for you. Hang around someone like Joseph and you'll be doing it a long time. So have fun, but be careful out there:-)
  12. Nice story. This news was previously posted on CC.com. Commin' at ya the speed of the internet!
  13. keep the slurs in spray please - ow No. Ivan had it right. The time I spend it France finally helps with something - Je'mapel jon phillip is french for "My name is Jon Phillip".
  14. I've been having Yosemite Bum in Calif. do the Trax rubber that Evolv uses on my other shoes once they wear down. I have 2 pairs I need to send in now as soon as the first snow hits I suppose. I just can't bring myself to pay to have brand new shoes resoled just yet like your friend Sol. Where does he get the Onxy resoles and how do you think that compares to the Trax rubber? Gratuitous bolting pic for Dwayner follows, possible Acopa sighting on granite:-).
  15. Good looking rock. Nice pictures too, thanks for sharing!
  16. New record. From climbing to spray in a single post:-0 I have the Acopa B3's and one thing I hate on is that if it's even the slightest bit wet out (common occurrence around here) they get significantly slipperier than any other rubber I use. And now, a random pic of the "Lil Dawg" for any one who is into bolting and bolt equipment. It's in the back of that pile. This pic should help any college profs to identify it.
  17. Looks like a high mileage route Bryan! I can hardly see you up there. What route?
  18. Link to video You have to click it to see the video as well. Says" "'Spiderman' Climbs Hotel In Beirut, Lebanon BEIRUT, Lebanon (CBS) Thousands of people gathered outside the premises of the Phoenicia hotel in Beirut to watch the French Spiderman Alain Robert climbing to the 23rd story on Saturday. Before he climbed the hotel tower Alain Robert told the Associated Press television that every time he wants to climb he feels nervous "You know before I ascend I always feel a little bit nervous but this is a very usual stage." On Saturday a shaving company launched a new razor blade by sending the French climber Alain Robert (aka "Spiderman") up the side of the hotel. The daredevil "builderer," who has conquered more than 85 of the world's most famous man-made landmarks by applying techniques used for rock-climbing, made short work of the 22-story building in central Beirut. Robert usually climbs with just his bare hands and climbing shoes, but also used safety ropes for his Beirut ascent. Maria Nouri, an architect said that Robert was very courageous "What happened was amazing we just saw the guy climbing with his own bare hands, it was beautiful. He is very courageous" Robert has scaled 85 giant structures around the globe including many of the world's tallest structures, most of which he has scaled using only his bare hands and climbing shoes. Robert began climbing as a young boy, scaling rock cliffs in the area around his home. His buildering career began at the age of 12 when he forgot his keys and was locked out of his parents' eighth-floor apartment. Instead of waiting for them to return home, he simply scaled the exterior wall to his home."
  19. Sharmas an amazingly strong and talented climber, but I agree that the promotion and manipulation is not something I appreciate though. That's one of the things folks really disliked about Todd Skinner as well. Hey, was that you who had claimed to have sniffed the chair that Lynn Hill had earlier sat on? *BTW* Nose news. Hans and Yuri broke their record. 2:37, just today. Filmed by the discovery channel, can't wait to see that.
  20. Way cool for ya Jeff. May I be the first to suggest that you'd better change your avatar pic, don't want the lil guy exposed to that kind of thing do ya?
  21. To pitch 6 it appears based on eyewitness accounts....Does anyone know if this is accurate? Supertopo link
  22. Did you call Trashvocloa "psycho" so that he wouldn't respond to threads like this and you could discuss it amongst yourself?
  23. i wouldn't want to be above treeline in a badass storm in any tent unless it was well dug in Little chance of this happening anyway as you appear to spend @ 99.9 percent of your time next to a computer:-)
