Your writing above makes more sense and shows more thought and intelligence than the post you pulled from the Guardian....to me anyway. In my mind, I hope that Obama picks smart HONEST patriots for these posts. I am not saying he isn't as I don't know. Rahm, for instance, looks damn smart. Can't say about the other 2 qualities. We'll find out for sure soon enough I suppose. As far as Jaybs post, give it some time, maybe read it a few more times as sometimes the things he posts take a while to sink in.

Boobist. Here's real change. Real real change that is really changing direct from the CIA free press. I think this means we have never been at war with Oceana. Link Says: "EXCLUSIVE: Agenda disappears from Obama Web site Stephen Dinan (Contact) Tuesday, November 11, 2008 President-elect Barack Obama (Associated Press) Over the weekend President-elect Barack Obama scrubbed Change.gov, his transition Web site, deleting most of what had been a massive agenda copied directly from his campaign Web site. Gone are the promises on how an Obama administration would handle 25 different agenda items - everything from Iraq and immigration to taxes and urban policy - all items laid out on his campaign Web site, www.BarackObama.com. Instead, the official agenda on Change.gov has been boiled down to one vague paragraph proclaiming a plan “to revive the economy, to fix our health care, education, and social security systems, to define a clear path to energy independence, to end the war in Iraq responsibly and finish our mission in Afghanistan, and to work with our allies to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, among many other domestic and foreign policy objectives.” “We are currently retooling the Web site,” said Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro. The site went active on Wednesday and was available to the public Thursday. The agenda items, which were active for at least part of the weekend, appear to have been deleted by late Saturday. hmmm: remember, we have never been at war with Oceana.

Prole says both Pink. Or neither. I'm not sure. Prole, OK, it was Clinton's fault (NOT), ya happy? Bush took over and in 8 years took it into the toilet, and it was all Clinton's fault. That's the essence of the BS article you link which ignores many many substantial Bush initiatives and Bush contributing factors. Obama now has to wade deep into the shit Bush left behind and try and fix it.

OMG they're adorable Zod. Good point. Spent Obama election evening with a dark skinned Black woman who's late husband was Norwegian. Her kids are all good looking, and not too far off your picture. Her first born has Nordic red hair and African/American lips. Pretty damn exotic and way different in a young 27 year old woman, close to Norwegian looking but not....quite. Then the 2nd is currently dating a real African from Ghana, and while she looks black or African-American to us, she looks white to them (big status symbol in the village evidently). When half Japanese-white kids go to Japan, the Japanese unerringly think they are white, while here, folks perceive the same kids as Japanese. The whole race thing is pretty confusing and pointless at times I suppose. Unless you're the "Golf Champion", then there is not a question of what your real media title is:-) _________________________________________________________ Hey Sobo, nice catch - sorry: Squid! I meant! Thanks Squid Dohh! BTW, anyone catch this neo-Nazi bullshit in Germany today? link Says: "....statements made by Juergen Gansel, a deputy in the Saxony state legislature for the far-right National Democratic Party of Germany, against Obama's election as the first African-American US president. In a statement from his office entitled "Africa conquers the White House," Gansel said multicultural America sought the destruction of "pure" national cultures and that Obama aimed to destroy the United States' "white identity." "A non-white America is a declaration of war on all people who believe an organically grown social order based on language and culture, history and heritage to be the essence of humanity," he said. More hope and more change are evidently still needed under a few rocks here and there.

Doing so will mean walking away from a long term American strategic plan and billions of dollars already invested. I don't think they can do it. Sorry, time will tell though. I didn't think Clinton could balance the budget like the first campaign pledge stated and was happily proven incorrect on that one. Here's to hope and change:

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU AGREE WITH THAT "OPINION" PIECE. Did you even read that quote you posted? It's laughable that the Clinton administration is responsible for the current state of the economy. There's so much more to it than that. One point to start with, the $ spent on the Iraq war is all on Bush, and a large, large contributing factor why the treasure is out of money. Then concentrate the wealth in the hands of the few via a tax policy and pull it out of a consumer driven economy and make up the shortfall by borrowing from the Chinese...THIS IS NEAR UNBELIVEABLE SHIT. blah blah blah blah

That's where the black guy in the Mercedes always gets pulled over for not turning on his turn signal, when he knows he in fact did. That would suck so hard after like the 3rd or 4th or 20th time.... Couliar, thanks for the one drop rule link. Thanks god most of our countrymen are far past that now. I'm so grateful to know our new president is ample evidence of where our country is, where a discussion of issues of importance, and not race, matters to most. We're getting there..... keep hope alive! (spoken in a rev Jesse jackson voice with an exclamation mark on the end:-) )

Exactly: Obama already has backed off the "get out of Iraq" pledge during his campaign. His selection of chief of staff confirms a continuation of that. We are and have been spending sh*tloads of $ on those permanent bases already. Link Will Obama walk away from that investment and change US foreign policy on his own?? Doubtful for many reasons. It will be interesting to see how, or even if, we get the Iraqis onboard with this idea of a long term US presence there.

Ivan, one word, one word for the graduate: Plastics Screamers! Have Geoff buy some, he's rich:-) Or I can even loan a couple, I hauled them around a lot, it would be nice to finally see if they really do work! ______________________________________________________________ Screamers are shock absorbing slings designed to reduce peak loads in any climbing system. Multi-functional energy absorbing device. Screamers™ will provide added protection in climbing and rescue situations. Screamers not only absorb energy directly, because of the stitch ripping effect, they also allow your rope to absorb more energy from the fall by increasing the time interval of the fall. Screamers can reduce shock loading in any rescue system. The standard "Screamer" can effectively reduce peak loads by 3-4 kN in any climbing or rescue system. YATES original Screamers were first developed over ten years ago, Yates has since developed numerous variations on the "Screamer" design with use in Aerospace, Military and explosive testing to decelerate various objects.

caught in fog on a glacier - what to do?
billcoe replied to danhelmstadter's topic in Climber's Board
There it is. In the cold, when you GPS batteries have died, this is it. Of course, there are whiteouts and there are whiteouts. I've seen people call pretty reasonable weather that has a little fog and snow a whiteout. Usually when its real bad, the wind is going sideways and some kind of cold stinging pellet is smacking anything exposed. You can barely stand upright, and just taking a step and not falling is difficult as you can barely see your boots, let alone the white color of the snow and features like depressions and holes underneath. At such times, wands are IT, as even looking consistently at a compass is difficult, let alone a map in 50 mph winds. As you walk south you are being blown East, and really unable to know how much lean into the wind is truly compensating to the drift which is happening..... It's rare that anyone really NEEDS wands. But when you need them, you REALLY NEED THEM! Unlike many, I was never smart enough to use them when I really needed them and had some lucky moments and got back anyway. Compass's are cheap, so maybe climb with someone who already has an altimeter and wands, and you'll be set! -
Always with the "Poverty" thing. I'm buying us both one. I really really like how Tim conducted himself on the whole Ozone thing and want to support him. $5 bucks is cheap for that work of art, Tim draws well. PM me your address and I'll have it drop shipped right to you. Anyone else link: Link

Actually, I shouldn't have clicked that link Sobo. They say he's "Multiracial", and then it gets to this: dad "a retired United States Army lieutenant colonel and Vietnam War veteran, was of mixed African American (50 percent), Chinese (25 percent) and Native American (25 percent) ancestry. Kultida (nee Punsawad), originally from Thailand, is of mixed Thai (50 percent), Chinese (25 percent), and Dutch (25 percent) ancestry. This makes Woods himself one-quarter Chinese, one-quarter Thai, one-quarter African American, one-eighth Native American, and one-eighth Dutch.[9] He refers to his ethnic make-up as “Cablinasian” " Shit, I can't even pronounce that. “Cablinasian”. WTF is that? Huh? Dudes as mixed up as the rest of us. At least he knows where he came from, the rest of us are just confused generally and ignorant of our true roots as well. F*uk, can't we just say Golf Champion? I can at least spell it.

A Fur-trader convention....why? As astute CC.comers - you heard it here first back in April. Long before the rest of the nation had caught wind, as they still haven't to this day. Now the Fur Trading accusation is close, so close to publication. I had heard it was the hairdresser though, so maybe you can't believe everything you hear. Got to give Obama credit for not pulling this one out of the closet during his race against her in the primaries, especially when he was behind in the polls. Big props to dude. Link "At first it seemed to be just another vicious little rumour started by Village Voice editor Michael Musto back in August - but now, what started as an unfounded piece of gossip is starting to get credible confirmation from various reputable DC sources (albeit off the record of course...) Hillary Clinton has been having a lesbian affair with her top female aide, the sexy Huma Abedin. This would not be the first time that Hillary has been accused of being a lesbian, however this rumour would be the first to be backed by so many high-level reputable sources. Amongst those corroborating the story of Hilary's lesbian affair, is highly respected journalist and author Ron Rosenbaum. In his October 30 article “Shocking Inside DC Scandal Rumor: A Media Ethics Dilemma” Rosenbaum said the Los Angeles Times has a story “wrapped up and ready to go about what is a potentially devastating sexual scandal involving a leading Presidential candidate” and they are currently ’sitting on it’ because the paper can't decide “the complex ethics of whether and when to run it.” Although Rosenbaum didn’t name Clinton specifically there is enough evidence that she is in fact the target of his accusation. So what do you think? Hillary Clinton a Lesbian? 1st ever Lesbian president? Maybe she just wants to even the score with Bill by also sleeping with a female aide!" Frankly, speaking for myself and most guys on this web site: I want to see more pictures. Like hot weather, close couple beach pictures say.....NOT that it's my business of course. Just sayin' is all.....

The 2nd group is a series of 3 of them. My point and belief is conveyed accurately by the reinactors which starts at 8:36 or so in #1 and continues throughout. To those who want safety and feel that outlawing guns is the answer: remember that drugs have been very illegal for many many years, and it has not slowed down drug availability at all. It has only made more criminals and filled up our jails with otherwise formerly honest people. Outlawing guns in anyway will do the same, AND reduce your political freedom. Short version: [video:youtube]oPnvwdwuU9M Long version 1 of 3 [video:youtube]MfObDFVnfp0 2/3 [video:youtube]lnAEvqI6V9E 3/3 [video:youtube]xS0hKNuS8zU It's pretty through, and entertaining as well: pick your poison.

Now this, my friends, is REAL Change. "Oregon town elects nation's first transgender mayor Story Updated: Nov 8, 2008 at 1:19 PM PST By Associated Press SILVERTON, Ore. (AP) - Plenty of politicians reinvent themselves. But none quite like Mayor-elect Stu Rasmussen. Rasmussen, 60, has been a fixture in Silverton politics for more than 20 years, and had twice before been the mayor of this small city 45 miles south of Portland. Those terms, however, were before the breast implants and before the once-discreet crossdresser started wearing dresses and 3-inch high heels in public. In a week when America loudly chose its first African-American president, Silverton quietly made Rasmussen the country's first openly transgender mayor, according to the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, a group that works to help openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people win elected office. Rasmussen displays a picture of his former self. Rasmussen unseated incumbent mayor Ken Hector, with whom he had long clashed — 1,988 votes to 1,512. Because Rasmussen's appearance is no secret, it was policy issues that dominated the campaign. "I've blackmail-proofed myself," said Rasmussen. The story of Rasmussen's election was first reported by JustOut, a bimonthly publication for Portland's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities. "Stu never sought this recognition out," said Stephen Marc Beaudoin, the reporter who broke the story. "He's interested in doing a great job for the community that he loves. The gender identity thing is just a total backseat thing." That comes across when Rasmussen speaks in his decidedly masculine voice. Though he dresses more like Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Rasmussen describes himself with a word assigned to Todd Palin. "I am a dude," he said. "I am a heterosexual male who appears to be a female." His longtime live-in girlfriend, Victoria Sage, told The Oregonian newspaper that she and Rasmussen have been an item for almost 35 years. "I heard a quote, and I don't know who said it but I think it's fabulous, that Silverton is a place where Mennonites and transvestites can get along," she said. The quote rang true when two cowboys came across the new mayor on a downtown sidewalk. "Good job, Stu," one of them said to the man wearing a leather skirt and maroon stockings. "Congratulations, Mr. Mayor," called the other one."

The DNC in Denver. Hope they all get fired for this: Jackass's. LInk "ACLU says Police staged confrontation amid convention November 7, 2008 DENVER (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union says undercover police officers posing as protesters staged a violent confrontation with another officer during the Democratic convention in Denver. The ACLU said it obtained a police document showing the undercover officers pretended to struggle with a police commander so they could be removed from the crowd without blowing their cover. The ACLU says another officer thought the commander was being attacked and pepper-sprayed the undercover officers. It's not clear how many officers were involved or how they were affected by the spray. Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson told The Associated Press he was unaware of the report and couldn't comment. The ACLU didn't immediately return a message." ________________________________________________________________ one of the comments under the story: " watched with a Denver Post reporter The undercover officers dressed in black t-shirts with head scarfs stood in front of my table before they split up and went to each end of the march. A Denver Post reporter asked me if I thought they were police dressed as protesters. I pointed out that the came from a group of white police vans and that they clearly lifted weights. We watched them attack the riot police and get pepper sprayed. One under cover officer had a black pack with rocks. He threw the rocks at windows down at the mall near Civic park. After the mass arrests the undercover cops returned to my table talked for a few minutes then returned to the white vans. Posted by Keith McHenry at 2:26 pm Nov 07, 2008"
