  1. I try to look at the glass half full, but it's difficult on occasion. I would have been a lot more negative in general had McCain been elected I suppose. I'll try to check that stuff. However, since I just posted another negative one about Ted Stevens, sack of shit recently re-elected to the Senate in Alaska....please excuse me as it may not happen for a bit.

Bob, what russians? You need to click the link and read the entire thing, one of your countrymen was an observer. "The observations by the monitors, including a Finnish major, a Belarussian airborne captain and a Polish civilian, have been the subject of two confidential briefings to diplomats in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital, one in August and the other in October. Summaries were shared with The New York Times by people in attendance at both."
  3. Is it me or is the irony of that statement thick here-:-) It's you. Mattp has proven himself a left-wing nut incapable of ever entertaining a POV different from his own, and consistently makes stupid accusations and fallacious attributions to other's with whom he is supposedly discussing an issue. Note the first thing he states in response to my comment. My comment did not attack a CC.com poster personally. His does. It's par for the course from that shithead. Business as usual. Unfortunately his party and it's adherents here on cc.com regularly engages in these tactics. You, OTOH, strike me as a reasonable fellow, a critical thinker, and not really divisive at all. You are actually worth the effort. Mattp can fuck off. I don't think you read the stuff you write then, cause you called Matt a "divisive asshole and a left-wing kool-aid drinker" in your first statement when you say to him "Like you". Then it went downhill. For you, not for Matt who didn't respond with a personal attack to yours. Dude, you should go re-read all that stuff, but especially the things you are saying, after you've cooled off a bit.

oh, what a wisdom! your insight is just fucking amazing. Looks like Fairweather nailed this one 3 months ago. Today's news: hot off the presses, Gulf of Tonkin part 2. Link "TBILISI, Georgia — Newly available accounts by independent military observers of the beginning of the war between Georgia and Russia this summer call into question the longstanding Georgian assertion that it was acting defensively against separatist and Russian aggression. Instead, the accounts suggest that Georgia’s inexperienced military attacked the isolated separatist capital of Tskhinvali on Aug. 7 with indiscriminate artillery and rocket fire, exposing civilians, Russian peacekeepers and unarmed monitors to harm" 3 more pages if you click the link, but that's the drift.

    Ted Stevens rant

Link What kind of strange bullshit is this? Did this bastard find a way to steal the election?
  7. It seems to me that Pres. Obama needs as much assistance and help as he can get. The budget needs to be submitted by Feb, a scant few weeks after the inauguration. I'm glad Bush is being so generous and helpful to get the guy up to speed with briefings etc etc. He could be locking the door, doing things his way, then blaming Barak when Barak is forced to deal with all the shit which would happen right after he first sits down in the chair. That's my opinion....and you know what they say about opinions:-)
  8. BTW Matt, if McCain had been elected, I know that the name would have been different but my disappointment the same. Obama looked like the better guy then and now.
  9. Well, ,I did post a link and an article. You can choose to read it or not, I wanted to put it out there. I really had rarely heard of the good Rabbi Emanuel so didn't (and don't) know what to expect. I find it disappointing that a guy like Paulson, who was inside the hen house watching this shit go down, is about to be swept out, but in some strange revolving door thing, a guy who looks just like him is coming in. This appears like more of the same shit that got us here to begin with. I really HOPE for CHANGE. But like I said earlier, all of you who have that hope, really have no basis of fact that it is anything other than a "belief" that things would change. To me, this just looks like anther political based appointment with money the underlying basis for the appointment. On the upside, he really sounds smart, and looks like a good guy to have on your side in an argument. I still have hope....
  10. Yup, real change is on the way! No Change same old same old link Well, at least the names of the players are changing, that's real.
  11. Moose Costume joke from the internet: "Two hunters went moose hunting every winter without success. Finally, they came up with a foolproof plan. They got a very authentic female moose costume and learned the mating call of a female moose. The plan was to hide in the costume, lure the bull, then come out of the costume and shoot the bull. They set themselves up on the edge of a clearing, donned their costume and began to give the moose love call. Before long, their call was answered as a bull came crashing out of the forest and into the clearing. When the bull was close enough, the guy in front said, "Okay, lets get out and get him." After a moment that seemed like an eternity as the big Bull Moose approached, the guy in the back shouted, "The zipper is stuck! What are we going to do!?" The guy in the front quietly says, "Well, I'm going to start nibbling grass, but you'd better brace yourself." 8D
  12. That's pretty clever PC! LOL! Thanks! BTW, I suspect that if we give the Bush thing a few years, sometimes distance lessens the intensity of the emotions. I saw it with Carter and Reagan...not with Nixon, still a prick in almost everyone's eyes, maybe more so now for some old die hard repubs as they start to clearly see how low his morals really were.
  13. I'm surprised you see this as a waste of time Bug. _________________________________________________________ So this is what real change looks like then? Ahhhh, it was looking like Bush part 2 or 3 to me. Hire a fox to guard the hen house.
  14. You really don't read others stuff do ya?
  15. That was my experience with Allstate when my whole south side roof blew off and the fence was knocked down by high winds. They had it fixed fast. Pope, if you really feel you are in the right (and I bet you are), tell them you find they're rejection of your claim unacceptable and if they don't revise their opinion you will consult and attorney and make it a court case: and also call the insurance commissioners office. Don't give up buddy. Good luck ps, when I started buying guns, thought I'd better get a dehumidifier. I was surprised that it pulled 4 gallons of water out of the air in the first 3 days. Something to consider.
  16. Yeah....he keeps doing that.... thats what makes him amazing. he is smarter that the entire GOP put together. Sure thing guys. Dude was a director of Freddy Mac. If he was so Damn smart, why'd he screw this one up? Link excerpts: "Emanuel Was Director Of Freddie Mac During Scandal New Obama Chief of Staff, Others on Board, Missed "Red Flags" of Alleged Fraud Scheme By BRIAN ROSS and RHONDA SCHWARTZ November 7, 2008 President-elect Barack Obama's newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot "red flags," according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com. The actions by Freddie Mac are cited by some economists as the beginning of the country's economic meltdown. The federal government this year was forced to take over Freddie Mac and a sister federal mortgage agency, Fannie Mae, pledging at least $200 billion in public funds. The entire board was later accused by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) of having "failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention". During the years 2000, 2001 and 2002, according to the SEC, Freddie Mac substantially misrepresented its income to "present investors with the image of a company that would continue to generate predictable and growing earnings." Sounds like the Fox is back in the henhouse. Amazing guy you say?
  17. Although I was incorrect on my assessment earlier this year that the US would force Iran's hand on the nuclear issue by October...nothing of substance has yet changed with that situation that I'm aware of. Interesting choice of Chief of staff with that backdrop, no?
  18. There's still hope isn't there? It's only been a day and the man isn't even going to be sworn in yet for a couple of months. Jeeze.
  19. Conspiracy theorists are already starting to come out of the woodwork now: Link From Supertopo:
  20. I only see opinion there, got links?
  21. And his litagation continues : "The settlement allows Mayfield to continue to pursue his challenge of the USA Patriot Act, Rosenthal said. Mayfield claims the act violates the Fourth Amendment because it allows government searches without probable cause that a crime has been committed. "The Patriot Act is decidedly not patriotic," Rosenthal said. "We will vigorously pursue this constitutional challenge to the highest courts in the country." " _______________________________________________________ And then later, the ACLU let all you be shit on by the ravages of your elected govenment- read it right here: Link "ACLU drops lawsuit challenging Patriot Act Group satisfied with changes to provision covering access to records Oct. 27, 2006 DETROIT - The American Civil Liberties Union on Friday dropped a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the USA Patriot Act. The ACLU said it was withdrawing the lawsuit filed more than three years ago because of “improvements to the law.” The Justice Department argued last month that amendments approved by Congress in March 2006 had corrected any constitutional flaws in the Patriot Act. “While the reauthorized Patriot Act is far from perfect, we succeeded in stemming the damage from some of the Bush administration’s most reckless policies,” Ann Beeson, associate legal director of the ACLU in New York, said in a written statement." _______________________________________________________ is that what you folks without links are talking about? That the American Civil Liberties Union thought this was OK and walked away from it?? Do any of you think it is probably because there wasn't a case.
  22. There have been a couple. It tends to be an anomaly and not the norm. Those mistreated folks usually immediately turn around and sue for damages. The pdx muslim arrested due to false fingerprint recognition and charged with blowing up the train in Spain for instance. As far as Hadji goatfucker, there's plenty of rules and regs that deal with that as well. Here's that guy that was fucked over, and received a 2 million dollar payout for his trouble. link Poor bastard had his rights totally trampled and he only got $2,000,000 bucks.
  23. This is the internet, posting rumor and innuendo alone is enough. Why bother with a link or with facts, just spray and attack at random, do it enough and it will stick as no one cares. Maybe in 3-4 years some of these folks will change.....
  24. When did you start?
  25. Are you kidding me? The major kingpins of a major terrorist group hell-bent on our destruction lie on that border and you think it would just be nice to win? The only thing keeping those men from terrorizing the US is the men keeping them in holes in Afghanistan. Exactly. This thing has now moved into Western Pakistan/Waziristan in a big way. As many of the Pakistani intelligence forces have been sympathetic to the Taliban, and Pakistan is sitting on @ 50 nuclear warheads.....anyone can get that point if that goes real bad eh? It is perhaps a result of poor execution of US foreign policy there: ie, our support of a military dictator in a country which prizes democracy, for instance, but it exists in real time and won't go away easily non-the-less and is not something Obama can disregard with an off the cuff remark without paying a big price later.
