  12. OK, so I know it is butchering the bard, and wherefore does not mean "where are," but I was wondering what happened to the Annabelle craze?
  13. First succesful American summit is different than first succesful summit.

  15. Posted this in the cc.news forum, but thought it might get missed there.
  16. So, I was posting pics in a recent TR, and realized it would be really cool to link them back to the page in the gallery where they are are so that people can see the extra details like Description and stuff, and make comments too.... Hmm how to do that??? apperently it's not so bad, but you have to do a fair bit of copy and paste. I made the code bits up by hand, which would suck for many pics, but it works. so it's something like this: (url=url of gallery page goes here)(image)url of image goes here(/image)(/url) replace () with [] to make functional Example here.
  17. Ok, so this is way overdue... I wrote it on a road trip last week, on my PDA For me, I think this will be the end of the ski season, and it was a truly fine way to end it. Oh, yeah. I got my coffee on the way back.
  18. Somtimes the chain is a single piece that connects the two bolts (or is two pieces joined by a quicklink or something, same difference)... That was the situation in the fatality that you describe. The rope was simply looped over the chain, not threaded through any links. In that situation, if any part of the system fails, then :splat: More commonly in my experience is to find two bolts each with a length of chain attached. The rope goes through the bottom link of each piece, as described by Cpoly above.
  19. Well, I've done a couple of those routes, and they were both great adventures. Looking at lists like this always makes me feel like I need to get out more though. Not that that's a bad thing...
  20. In the Cirque?
  21. One of my favourite packs, that I often use for ski touring, is a frameless pack; the Serratus Genie. It takes a little more effort to pack it well, but other than that, as long as the weight is reasonable, I have no real problem with the frameless idea, up to a certain size/weight.
  22. from the thread: maybe that would work for those damn gear thieves in Squish too.
  23. I think that's an otter at the wheel!
  24. Buy the hybrid instead, it's not as much of a specialty piece as you might think.
