Slim comes across a rattlesnake and the snake bits him right on the old wanger. Tex doesn't know what to do, so he rides back to town and finds the doctor for advice. "Doc! My buddy just got bit on the dick by a rattlesnake! He's out in the desert. What should I do?" The doc tells him to make an incision at each fang mark and suck the poison out. If he gets the poison out his friend will recover. Tex rides back into the desert and arrives to find Slim scared and desperate. "What did the doc say?!" asks Slim. "The Doc says your gonna die Slim."

Or in an avalanche... Which is another good reason to use AT gear, or at least a releasable tele binding. There's no such thing as a releasable snowshoe.

AT is the way to go. This is from someone who only locks his heel down once or twice a year. The only real advantage of tele IMO is the comfort. Skiing out long roads at the end of the day is better with free heels, because you can rest your legs and stretch while you are moving. Traverses also suck less on tele. Otherwise AT is lighter, faster, easier. Tele is just sexier.

I have Ascensions... w/ a G3 tail or get Ascensions and the STS tail. I tend to agree with Iain that the tail hook makes it easier to get your skins off, and stops you from wrecking the glue to quickly.

Oct31 - Black Tusk was OK, but real boney, got the base scratches to prove it. snow was light and fun. Nov 20 - Red heather was GOOD! about 60cm down by the shelter, but the bowls around the high point had a good 1.2 m. stable moist pow. New snow seems to have bonded well to crust.

I am pretty sure that the Giro Nine.9 and one of the Giro bike helmets are from the exact same mold... I don't think I would be comfortable w/ any of the foam helmets for climbing, since I would worry about the problem of a large pointy rock going right through the foam.
