  1. I saw a TR from yesterday @ Bow Summit on TGR. Looked good. It's raining pretty hard and high in the southern interior right now though.
  2. I have never really had an icing problem with my dynafits. That's just one season of experience though (25+days) in interior snow. My gf has used them for about 5 seasons, and has never complained of any icing issues either.

No matter how many returns I put in after the GooTube code block, the text that I added to your post doesn't form a new paragraph... ???
  4. werd.
  5. If that is a Flemish bend in the pic above, then it should be OK. It is the standard knot for joining two ropes together in the BC/PEP Rope Rescue program.
  6. First snow in town today! Start saving those pennies again...
  7. 3608.913 I was working in a snowstorm today.
  8. Damn you Coloradians!!! http://www.wildsnow.com/
  9. OK - this bothers me... I can imagine the sling getting cut when it was landed on by the biners. Not only that, fabric and cordage is vunerable to things that can't be seen like acid damage etc. I believe I have read about testing by BD of a bunch of booty biners (including ones that had been dropped) and the ones that passsed visual inspection tested out as good.
  10. Nice to see that some of the accesories on the Yamaha page are beaco/shovel/probe!
  11. dat ^ Ymir?
  12. Hell, I even made it! finally... and then there was not too many there. Maybe I should have promoted my going. It was a good weekend of hooking up with old friends though. Man - beer and ski pr0n sounds like a good idea... too bad it's such a long drive!
  13. They are 40 bucks... I think they will work.
  14. My example is actually for the GEOTIFF data CD's/sheet - that is one 1:20K for $40, but then you can print off as many as you want, or make your own maps with custom roues etc, as soon as you get that large format printer. BTW, if you get a LF printer, then you best get an extra few GB of email storage...
  15. OW is not a winner, he went over the 20 word limit.
  16. One sheet of TRIM data from Clover Point costs $40 +/- vs $$12ish per sheet for NTS. I know it's not a direct comparision, but it's one I can easily make of the top of my head. Most of us do not have access to large format printers, and they cost a lot. They also produce a lower quality product than commercial printing. For sure there will be excellent companies like CP, but they will be fragmented, there will be no more one stop shopping... or maybe there will? So right now Murray, if you want a map of Bum$&*k Manitoba, I bet you can tell me exactly where to order it from, right? And you can include it with your other map orders... It seems that it could get kinda messy if this happens. The other problem could be that the cost of owning data sets for all these out of the way places is going to be high, and the suppliers may balk.
  17. Neither am I. ;p I am a 6'2" 225lb'er who is quite happy on some 188 Elan 777s. He's as tall, but a lot lighter than me, and I bet he would have fun on a shorter ski, as well as huffing less weight up the hill. However.... the price is right, and like I said, if he knows he wants the longish ski, then he should go for it. Oh yeah, I'll bid $176.
  18. I think that the last couple responses should be a good hint... Honestly, I think they are too long for you, but if you are an advanced skier, and you know what you like, then go for it. The Explosiv is no longer made, and they are fairly popular. You can't really go wrong at that price, IMO.
  19. Apparently our federal governement wants out of the business of printing paper maps. As of January you will be downloading PDFs of the maps and finding someone to print them for you... Sux if you live in the bush, or want a nice crisply printed map, or for many other reasons... Web page with better info.

  23. That is a big endorsement. I also had good, prompt service both via email and on the phone. I finalized my order by phone on Friday after lunch, and was told that they would be in the mail that day! I could of bought them from you if I'd known... If it was accurate it might be useful for skiing.
