    Ice tool knot's

Josh- That photo is a water knot, yup! The "act of tying webbing back into itself (to loop and knot through an anchor hole in an axe for example)" would technically be a different knot. The most accurate name I can think of would be an "overhand on a bight." Tying it to something through a hole turns it into a hitch, as opposed to a bend where two cords are tied together, and neccesitates tying it by re-weaving. Ashley refers to it as an "overhand loop" but doesn't seem to refer to using it as a hitch.

    Old Nuts

I have an oldish # 10 , and a new #11 that I take on alpine routes. I would love to find a #13 for hanging on the wall though...
  4. Don't bother, there's no snow here either...
  5. It said 9cm, but the wind was loading it into my favourite runs. Some of the best skiing I've had in years. Not quite light enough to give me the brain freeze, but awesome none the less. Felt more like a 30+cm day...
  6. Well.... I decided to go skiing after all. I've never seen such a crowd at this hill, and they were all stoked! The report said we had 9cm overnight, but the snow was over my boots. Way over my boots! I am so sore now... Time for Hope you all are blessed with some of the freshie magic soon.
  7. This is one of the biggest things that helped for me. My friend Eric told me to "Look at the hold until your foot is on it." He meant all the way on it - solid and ready to take weight. I was guilty of looking at the hold but looking away as soon as my toe touched the rock. Then I would scrape onto the hold. Kinda like you would in the gym. It especially helped with my slab climbing.
  8. Just wanted to let you all know that I was skiing the steep and deep and tight today and yesterday. No sign of the snow slowing down either. Hmm, I wonder what should I do tomorow?
  9. Yeah, I don't much care if my thunder is stolen. I don't know if I'll be able to make it down to the USA for the party. I was getting excited when people were talking about Cerise Creek or similar though. Just thought your thread should be in the *freshizone* too...
  10. Word is that they don't have anyone lined up to collect the parking fees yet. It is going to contracted out, but no wants the contract yet.
  11. Dave - check this out: ski-in thread in *the freshiezone*
  12. So, where did you guys go to school?

  15. And BRAT stands for...? No googling, play fair.
  16. So, the rockheads have their rope up, what about the freshie-hunds? Someone wanna do a b/c kegger?

Dude, I didn't really care about the poem either. I read a line or five, and thought to myself, "trask again." No biggie. Sometimes it gets over the top around here but that's what mods are for, right? On a related note, I see you are actually ahead of the caveman these days!

We all saw right through you! PC doesn't fit you very well. I thought DFA's joke was not his usual caliber, bought that it was mildly amusing. I really don't think it was offensive though. It wasn't aimed at anyone, in the way trashk's poem was.

A very good question ChrisT. Give yourself a round of applause... The site seems to be getting a bit confusing these days. There is more than the message board but it seems a little underadvertized. Try here for the articles.
  23. Funny thing is, Petzl actually recommends them for this use! I'd like to see you generate 1000lbs of force in a factor .1 factor fall, that might be typical on tr. RTFM! Lead self belay would be a totally different matter of course. I use the Petzl ascension as a tr self belay from time to time. It works well. Just be sure to clip in at the top hole as shown in the manual, or else it don't feed good, and it could pop off! Joomars too wee for my big manly hands!
  24. Looks like we got a shout out on telemarktips.com . They don't seem too sure what to make of the & though!
