  1. The subtitle says the France-Spain border, doesn't it? And it looks like a heli rescue to me??? Just a good reminder to avoid rescue at all costs! I was told a story, don't know the veracity of it, about another heli job gone bad. Aparrently helis lose some of their lift when they go from land to water. THe pilot forgot this, and lost the bird with him rescue crew, injured patient, and partner. It was a broken arm 5 miles from the road.

    Yosemite ratings?

My opinion: I think grades are always sandbags when you are new to an area. I would love to see some of you smiff types on a few of the "mid 10" squamish slabs! New kinds of climbing, and new kinds of rock always mess us up for awhile. Getting used to big long exposed routes, or short hard routes makes people squeal that the routes are sandbagged! I think the real value of grades is to give people an idea of relative stuff in the area. It is idealistic to think that they will seamlessly go from one area to an other. Of course Skaha is an exception to this whole discussion!
  3. I got to vote, it just gave me some 404 error. The results speak for themselves though.

Could be a good show, but not as good as Muffy and minx, or was it Muffy and Alli??? I can never kep these things straight.
  9. Or do you have another excuse for being up spraying at 12:50 AM? dude looks kinda sleepy too!
  10. Saad eh? Truthfully though, I was using it as stress relief between bouts of bookeeping. Thankfully that task is almost done.

    Ice tool knot's

Josh- That photo is a water knot, yup! The "act of tying webbing back into itself (to loop and knot through an anchor hole in an axe for example)" would technically be a different knot. The most accurate name I can think of would be an "overhand on a bight." Tying it to something through a hole turns it into a hitch, as opposed to a bend where two cords are tied together, and neccesitates tying it by re-weaving. Ashley refers to it as an "overhand loop" but doesn't seem to refer to using it as a hitch.

    Old Nuts

I have an oldish # 10 , and a new #11 that I take on alpine routes. I would love to find a #13 for hanging on the wall though...
  15. Don't bother, there's no snow here either...
  16. It said 9cm, but the wind was loading it into my favourite runs. Some of the best skiing I've had in years. Not quite light enough to give me the brain freeze, but awesome none the less. Felt more like a 30+cm day...
  17. Well.... I decided to go skiing after all. I've never seen such a crowd at this hill, and they were all stoked! The report said we had 9cm overnight, but the snow was over my boots. Way over my boots! I am so sore now... Time for Hope you all are blessed with some of the freshie magic soon.
  18. This is one of the biggest things that helped for me. My friend Eric told me to "Look at the hold until your foot is on it." He meant all the way on it - solid and ready to take weight. I was guilty of looking at the hold but looking away as soon as my toe touched the rock. Then I would scrape onto the hold. Kinda like you would in the gym. It especially helped with my slab climbing.
  19. Just wanted to let you all know that I was skiing the steep and deep and tight today and yesterday. No sign of the snow slowing down either. Hmm, I wonder what should I do tomorow?
  20. Yeah, I don't much care if my thunder is stolen. I don't know if I'll be able to make it down to the USA for the party. I was getting excited when people were talking about Cerise Creek or similar though. Just thought your thread should be in the *freshizone* too...
  21. Word is that they don't have anyone lined up to collect the parking fees yet. It is going to contracted out, but no wants the contract yet.
  22. Dave - check this out: ski-in thread in *the freshiezone*
  23. So, where did you guys go to school?
  24. Baja Rally A[something] Truck? Nope, way off...
