  1. Anybody been up to Three Fingers Lookout recently? I understand the lookout was damaged recently. The Everett Mountaineers are the caretakers of the Three Fingers Fire Lookout, and I’m in contact with one of the volunteer parties who maintains this facility. He’s looking for any pictures or a description of the damage that would help in assessing the needed repairs. If you have pictures specifically of the damage, much appreciated if you could PM me with your contacts for follow up. Thanks, Tony
  2. The biggest apprehension I had was with previous TR's on leaving Big Beaver trail to get onto the ridge... something about bushwhacking and yellow jackets. For us at least, it was far less intimidating than what we had expected. Look on the topo for a small but distinct bench, take a rough bearing and trend in that direction when you hit the bush threading through short hop cliff bands. Linky from our trip last year.
  3. [quote=klenke Tony: I haven't done any mole hills with you. Oh wait, maybe Greenway Mountain next to McClellan Butte qualifies. Dude, Greenway Mountain has 40' of prominence.

    Blue Angels

Fuck off. Better yet, go watch the sky on a bombing range somewhere. Ponder the blue sky. Think about how for some sad fuck that's the last thing he's going to see - thanks to jets like that. Life's a bitch. Fuckhead. Bob. Somebody around here hasn't gotten laid in a while. :lmao:
  5. For those who are curious, these are the five lists I completed (which totals 251 separate summits or points of interest, such as county highpoints that are "liners"): Top 100 lists (Bulger and 400P) Washington 2000-ft prominence peaks Washington County Highpoints Washington County Greatest Prominence Points . Aah, I'd wondered what the deal was with all them other little mole hills that you'd dragged me up. Makes sense now

    Blue Angels

During its history 26 Blue Angels pilots have been killed in air show or training accidents.[3] Through the 2006 season there have been 262 pilots and squad leaders in the squad's history,[4] giving the job a 10% fatality rate.

    Blue Angels

I grew up in Seattle going to Seafair and watcing the Blue Angels down on the lake each year. As a result, I've been conditioned to be wowed by then since I was a kid. In this age of global rampage and the terror we impose on other nations, either through outright aggression or through arms sales to those who do the same, we have lots of refugees who've relocated to our area. I wonder how they react to the howl of these jets that may have been a signal in an earlier time to death of loved ones. Anyway, something to ponder...
  9. Here's the list, Bulger Top 100. Here's the list that makes Klenke official, Top 100 Finishers.
  10. BTW, nice job Shannon and Siew Moi
  11. Careful... be sure you and your partner are comfortable traveling unroped on exposed, loose, Class 3 terrain. It's not bad, but I can think of a few friends I wouldn't take down that way. Just make sure you're goin in eyes wide open before you cast off.
  12. Try this. Car to car in a day is doable, but it's a long day. You'll want to get an alpine start and simul most of it. The descent off the back side is kinda sketch and mentally taxing. Don't take it lightly, and don't drag a partner who's not comfortable with loose Class 3 terrain down that way. All else aside, it's a great climb.
  13. Given the hardware isn't cheap, I can think of a lot of other things a real kid would spend his hard earned allowance on (gum, candy, sugary drinks, bottle rockets, video games, pot...)
  14. Look up Mark Glidden with EMRU.

    Free shoes

I'm moving out of Rainier Valley and placed a box full of shoes, boots and other second hands stuff outside. Not a single taker... Anyway, before I cart this stuff down to Goodwill, thought I'd place a notice on this board since there's hiking boots, mountaineering boots, a pair of snowboard boots... and there's probably a better fit here. I wear a Men's 9.5 - 10 (Euro 42.5 - 43) There's one pair of La Sportiva Glaciers with plenty of life in them. One pair of reaasonably underworn mid-weight Montrail leather hiking boots. An old pair of Salomon Synapse showboard boots (lace lock broken, but I have the replacement part that any cobbler can fix.) All are free. PM me if interested.
  16. oh, and cast your rope - i.e. don't be lazy and just lower it down the cliff. Ed's is a rope eating crack.
  17. swap meet

  22. There are a few who do, Mr P. I may have my issues with Jim McDermott, but he's from our state, from my congressional district, and he's my fucking Congressman. He said NO! I saw him at an event a few months after. He looked beat up... actually, he got beat up at our event. I felt bad. As he walked out to his car, I stopped him on the sidewalk, shook his hand and thanked him for doing the right thing. He's one of the few who did.
