  2. Yeah, yeah, we shouldn't judge others by their music, fashion, or automotive tastes or the apparent juxtapositions of those tastes. But hippies are fun to make fun of, and as a subculture commonly regarded for its dirtbagness and embracing of the simple life, it's funny to see one behind the wheel of such a posh automobile. NOFX is middle-class, suburban southern California punk rock, which goes along just fine with DFA's middle-class Subaru, thank you very much.
  3. Bah. It's not judging the band by its fans, it's judging the fans by their lame-assness. Phish is ehhhh on their own.
  4. Clever. Oh, so clever.
  5. THIS J5, chump: "we're not ballin' or shot callin' we take it back to the days of yes, yall'in' we're holdin' on to what's golden I take it straight to the stage and I'm rollin'" [ 10-09-2002, 11:11 AM: Message edited by: Dr Flash Amazing ]
  6. Speaking of dreads, the Doctor has gotten a good laugh a couple of times lately on his way home from work, as he has passed a rather white and scruffy looking kid rockin' the dreads and driving ... a brand new Land Rover with leather interior ! You always hear the term "trustafarian," but how often do you actually get to see a combo like that? Priceless.
  7. *** NEWS FLASH *** BEGIN New J5, 'Power In Numbers' is bangin' STOP Purchase immediately STOP Prepare to be rocked END ******************

A friend did her MSc on snow slab shear and the forces were enormous but develop slowly over months. Tens or hundreds of times higher than the max force a bolt can take. especially if the bolt freezes into the ice and moves as a mass with it when it shears. It kind of tells you why when you notice how smooth those slabs are and figure what it was that keeps them that way. I'd be interested in seeing some of that information; very interesting. What kind of engineer are you, Greg? You must appreciate a good PAGE TOP as much as the next guy, in any case. [ 10-08-2002, 12:36 PM: Message edited by: Dr Flash Amazing ]
  9. If it makes you all feel any worse, Dr. Flash Amazing (Northwest Legend) hates this joint too.
  10. quote: Originally posted by sexual chocolate: Do you really think that lets 'em off the hook? No, but the fact that they play kickass punk rock does, and the fact that they don't actually suck makes the whole thing moot. Plus, how can you go wrong with a band that loves to get loaded doing a lounge jazz cover of 'Straight Edge' complete with Satchmo-style vocals?
  11. quote: Originally posted by thelawgoddess: i meant phish albums, you wad! Well, since the Sprayin' Canuck recommended The Residents, DFA figured anything was fair game.
  12. Hot damn! Up next: Dr. Flash Amazing leaves work, and picks up the new J5 enroute to the homestead.
  13. Sublime '40 oz. to Freedom' (too bad you can't get the original version any more -- suckaz! )
  14. How does it compare to Quality Control? That one was good, but kind of off and on. They don't have any R&B shit on the new one, do they? DFA saw an ad listing some woman as a guest on the album, which usually points to R&B crap. Shame if the J5 sunk to that level.
  15. Shit, they were playing that at the skate shop the other day when DFA was lookin' for new shoes. It wasn't out yet when the Doctor went looking the other day. Sounded like, uh, the bomb shiggity, though.
  16. Granite never seems to have enough of those perfect two-finger pockets like tuff mysteriously does. How do they form so uniformly?

  19. Double posts make DFA very which makes DFA which makes DFA stomp on and too much, which makes DFA late which is not . wit' dat? [ 10-08-2002, 03:15 PM: Message edited by: Dr Flash Amazing ]
  20. "I can't help it if you make comments like that. It just opens you up to more spray." You don't seem to wait for a comment like that to start in with the confrontational shit, though. It's never a discussion, it's always "I'm Caveman, if you disagree with me about anything I'll hit you over the head." It's not that Dr. Flash Amazing can't take the sprayage, it's just that he can't understand your conversational style, or lack thereof.
  21. quote: Originally posted by Cpt.Caveman: Well why dont you buy a site and host it yourself since you think it's ok without asking. Why don't you try communicating without being an asshole for once? Is that possible for you?
  22. "It might be most appropriate to ride your bike from Vantage to Everest basecamp with the plaque and install it there..." Don't forget your otherwise you'll have to try to which probably wouldn't work all the way across the especially if you encounter which will take off your at the very least, making it difficult to get to which would be a bummer! 23. DFA surmises that as an integral part of Native American culture and a potentially informative artifact of a now nonexistent people, pictographs are of legitimate historical value, and are thus treasured. Modern rock chippage, however, is not a part of American culture. There are many other media at our disposal to communicate and commemorate, rendering buggering with rocks obsolete, thus making modern rock-tinkering, in some eyes, a travesty. However, as a sport climber who frequently finds himself desperately clinging to chipped grips, far be it from the Doctor to condemn a chipped memorial; the above is just DFA's dos centavos on modern vs. ancient rock modification. Seems like in this instance, though, the idea is to preserve some valuable information in a non-sneaky kind of way in order to keep it available, which sounds like the original intent. 'Tis a far cry from copying the info, crediting yourself with it, and selling it or something.
