  1. Thanks for the post Freeman, that is an excellent idea. Count me in...
  2. wow michelle! bet you never expected that! pretty crazy, glad to hear you are on your way down to the valley with all of your beloved gear and vehicle.. all of that anger/frustration/contemplation has i'm sure in some way made you appreciate what you have even more now, especially now that you have it back! thanks for the fun wednesday- it was great to get acquainted... have a great trip and let me know when you're back in town!!
  3. i'll share this as it might amuse some of you guys: did you know that some girls duct tape their boobs together for better cleavage?!! i knew of some girls a long time ago in high school that did it for prom dresses and shit... [ 09-05-2002, 01:36 PM: Message edited by: AA ]

  5. quote: Here's a question. I used duct tape to cover up tears in my jacket. I finally have a second jacket and want to send off the old one for repair to patagonia, but after removing the duct tape, there's a bunch of sticky stuff left behind. How do I get rid of this stuff? iain, you might want to try a little rubbing alcohol. probably along the lines of DFA's suggestion but i'd test on like the inside area of the jacket where you can see if it's going to stain the fabric... it works for getting stickers and other gluey/sticky stuff off of mirrors and windows

    Indian Summer

while in Banff last winter a woman brought her cat ice climbing- wrapped around her neck on the hike in and cuddled up in a nice down jacket while she climbed!
  7. i completely agree. There's nothing worse than hiking on a trail when you smell and see this HUGE nasty pile strewn ALL OVER the trail. i've always wondered how they can justify horses over dogs.. horse shit sucks!! now, horsecock on the other hand....
  8. YAB is a great idea, but there will be LOTS of people. Hannegan is cool but sure to be crowds as well. Another place is Church Mt., it's really only a day hike (~2hrs to top) maybe not what you have in mind, but cool place to take the dogs and great views- big meadow for them to run around in... May not be as crowded. You could hit the North Fork on the way in/out..a MUST, the best IPA you will have!
  9. How long was the hike in? What's the descent like? Looking to avoid crowds this weekend- sounds like a fun climb, not much traffic either? TIA
  10. being in the 'ham for the last 5 years, my experience with work is that you have to suck it up and deal with shit jobs here sometimes- b/c that's all there is! but from what you've said you already know that. the 'job board' at WWU (on website too) was helpful for awhile with odd jobs like yard work and stuff, they pay b/n $8-$10, even though summer is coming to an end, you might be able to find this kind of work into the fall (i have- through December!) and most people i worked for let me do it on my own schedule- weekends off! hope this helps, probably something you already know... good luck!
  11. BARKLEY VILLAGE should have been the first hint as to how bad this trip would SUCK, I hate going in there- but Little Tokyo rocks, now that's worth the approach.

    Monday

a weekend of defeat; b/c all you think about is what you would do differently to accomplish the climb/goal.... speaking from experience of this weekend!!.... god-damn logging roads....
  15. Would a thong suffice? I mean, I know it's not as visible and all, but...

  17. Church Mt, off 542. Lots of switchbacks through the woods, nice stroll through the meadow, and then some more switchbacks up to the summit. Great views of Baker and the Nooksack! It would be a great recovery hike... And the North Fork IPA is on your way home! [ 07-26-2002, 09:17 AM: Message edited by: AA ]
  18. Baker, Coleman-Deming. My first time, along with at least 25 of the other 60 people that were up there! but Awesome weather, gorgeous sunrise... couldn't have been better, except for the snoring boyfriend the night before and the terrible sunburn on the face
