    Go Pistons

Is there anybody else that would be interested to see how phil jackson would do as a coach without jordan and co or shaq/kobe and co? My guess is he'd be an average coach. I really wouldn't doubt I could have won the NBA championship with the Jordan teams of the 90s.
  2. [quoteWTF is a "Martlet"? Perhaps the insult would be better received if I understood it. You're making many claims about a underlying motive but it's all speculation on your part. I've seen you post in 3 threads, and it's all about "bad guys" hiding under your bed. Grow up. HAHAHAH. Wow, if this lingustic style doesn't smack of Martlet I dont know what does. You having fun playing dress up as "molly"?
  3. Martlet, get lost. Here is a question for everybody...a fire burns down a forest, lets use the leavenworth 94 fire for an example. burned trees are left. THe underbrush has all been burnt away so the fire risk on the remaining land is quite low. Would you rather... a.)Have the scenery of burnt trees? b.)Have the scenery of a clear cut? Obviously I have no more knowledge of forest on this site than most people but I do know two things: 1.) If you belive Bush's administration is looking out for environmental concerns before timber company concerns you are really an idiot. 2.)Environmental groups (the large, mainstream ones) have smart people with degrees in forestry and other environment sciences working for them. I'd be willing to bet they are more informed than us and probably have a pretty good idea of what this is a dumb strategy.
  4. Where did I suggest it was a black and white issue? Our forest fire policy over the last century, as you suggest, has led to the problem, but I hardly think bush's approach to cut down burned trees (which provide future nutrients) to reduce "fuel" is too brainy. After all, the fuel has already burned up. If you don't think his strategy on the national forests is swayed heavily by the timer industry I have some oceanfront property in Arizona I'd love to sell ya.
  5. Brilliance...the bush administration is allowing salvage loggin to be used to "clean up" fire burned national forests. I can't think of anyway to better open up NF for abuses by timer companies that this. Obviously running bulldozers in over everything to chop down the large burned trees is a great idea. I mean who doesn't want to see a recovering forest full of little christmas trees and giant stumps? Anybody who can't see through this concept of using "salvage sales" to help the timer companies is pretty blind. "In 2002 President Bush announced his "Healthy Forests Initiative" to speed up treatment of diseased and overcrowded forests by limiting the process to legally challenge thinning decisions." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5014243/
  6. Hefty SteelSack...not just those regular hefty bags, except nothing less than the best, the STEELSACK!
  7. I know nothing about the history or the research, but isn't a little suspect when somebody all of a sudden reports a "previous" ascent (solo, none the less) after somebody has dug information on a first?

    Smoking Bans

MollyWorld, the latest incarnation of Martlet No thanks, my mom, or anybody in my family, doesn't smoke. I was just point out the sad truth about the smoking demographics.
  10. I know, I'm just spouting shit.. Retiring at 40, even 50, is a pretty good goal. People are just much healthier and stronger into older ages now. I just seems to me that I see so many 50 to 60 years olds now that are running triathalons and shit like that. Back in the day 60 was a lot less active.
  11. Yup, that's exactly what I needed! thanks man! -josh

    Smoking Bans

The real sad thing is the lower classes tend to smoke more, and they are the ones that can afford it least.
  14. ...who has been up recently? I think I'm going to take a hike up there with my dad and his friend tomorrow and I'm wondering how much of the talus beneath the colchuck glacier can you ski?
  15. You are obviously drunk since you didn't comprehend any of what I said. Do you even participate in the markets? The big brokerages are using "program trading" which is essentially automated trading based on algortihms and the extent of this program trading represents a very large and growing percent of the transactions everyday (estimates put it in the 60% range). I don't trade with algortihms, tech analysis/charting voodoo, or anything else aside from fundamentals...cash flow, debt, earnings, dividend history, short interest, etc. I read the 10Qs, I read the balance sheets and income statements, I research the industries. Granted, when a company like World Com or Enron is cooking the books, even the most diligent research falls short, but with proper diversification even a total collapse of a company like that would not hurt you too bad. Common sense is the basis of any good investment strategy. Short term trading is much more about psychology and luck. I make short term trades, but as a very small percent of my holdings and in companies that are solid, large cap, dividend paying equities - MO, PG, GE, ABT, MRK, etc. All these "wall st darling" growth stocks are like playing with fire. Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, Taser....all waiting for a smackdown. And Taser got theirs, I shorted that shit with no reservations, it went up for another week and a half and then took a huge nose dive giving me a nice 23% return for nothing more than saying "this thing is WAY overpriced for it's growth potential" and acting on it. What do you really think the growth potential for Tasers is? People had the thing priced like they were going to have one in every home in the country. I'd wager that the "average joe" who is using mutual funds doesn't even understand the fee structure they are paying, nor do they know the true returns of those funds. The numbers the fund companies feed them don't take into account tax issues or fees. 80% of mutual funds don't even beat the S&P500 on an annual basis and less than 5% do it on a recurring basis. Joe Average could do better by simply buying SPDs or DIAs. Mutual funds are another scam for people unwilling or unable to learn about the markets. Yes, I was drunk. I have some money in the market, and it's managed by a professional. For knowing how to make so much money in the market, it seems like you should be wealthy and retired by now...

    Smoking Bans

One job I do want the government to do is protect my health. They hurt my health. It's a public environment. The smoker doesn't have the right to invade my personal space, IMHO.
  17. You watched that show? It's daaaammmn funny. I dont know if he's a racist or not tho?
  18. 1 to 3 inches about 6500 they say. Baker anybody?
  19. This Paccar job that I was offered/will be working concerns this very thing in regard to the diesel trucking industry. Apparently, in 2007, stricter emissions requirements will take effect. The plan is to use exhaust recirculation to raise the temperature of combustion or something like that as a means to reduce NOx emissions. This will in turn require better front end (radiator) cooling systems than are currently available. This is where my expertise comes in for Paccar. There is another requirement that's supposed to take effect in 2010. I can't remember what that one is. Expertise!? I thought your expertise was in naming obscure mountains for me?
  20. I have none...have you not noticed most in the creative professions are progressives? Take holywood for example...

  22. You are next in line to lose your money if you actually think common sense or some sort of algorithm can win you money in the market. Estimating human stupidity isn't much of an exact science. OK, I'm real drunk...going to bed now...
  23. What don't you get? insider trading is illegal for a reason. give it up. Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. Both presidents with the last name "roosevelet" were great presidents.
