  1. I can testify that after completing a pickets traverse and living in Colorado for a few years that the Rockies are a range for huge giant pussies. Just kidding , but that amazing stat doesn't surprise me. The Cascades and Olympics are unique, and we are lucky to have them! "Holy fucking shit! Those are like real mountains." - my friend in Colorado when I showed him a picture of j-berg and then a summit shot from Eldorado.
  2. Thank you, and good to be back. Time to get outside soon!

  4. New discussion - does ascending fixed window washing lines on the side of a tall skyscraper qualify as a first ascent of that building? Hmmmm...so much thinking...brain...exploding...
  5. Ahh, awesome pictures. That looks incredible. I was thinking Eldorado and Baker, so looks like those are still in the running. I hope this system brings as much snow as it possibly can.
  6. DONE and done! Now, who has skiing ideas besides this useless thread-jacking russian?
  7. Of course. Let me find the picture.
  8. The weather report looks like the next week might bring a significant amount of snow to the Cascades, in particular the higher elevations. Who has ideas for good locations for some higher (4500+) touring that will still be accessible by road due to the early date in the season. I'm looking for some new areas to poke round in for the next 2 to 3 weeks. thanks! -josh
  9. I dropped a crampon in the Price Glacier a few years ago and had to do that exact same one poon hop all the way back to camp. I remember getting a great workout for my left calf.
  10. Phew...case closed. Now I can go back to liking Rove again. After all, it was just this one thing that had changed my mind about him.
  11. My guess is there is no way that feature was previously unclimbed...
  12. Ack...that "steep snow" looks sketch. I would be tucking my tail and heading for the rock...
  13. Just ordered $153 of garbage books for a total donation of $0.00. In 7-10 days I'll be having a nice campfire courtesy of those assholes. :-) BTW, they dont verify phone or email for orders that don't charge anything, so I would recommend not giving them a real account for either. Good find Dave!
  14. By being longer and cooler...
  15. Did you use a rope at all? Would trail tennies suffice? That is a really nice area - and I agree about the glaciers - very sad. The White Chuck is pretty much depressing to look at.
  16. WTF is wrong with those pictures?

    for CBS

I always thought it would be funny to throw some cesium in the local swimming pool...
  18. You seem to have an obsession with climbing under icefalls on j-berg, eh? You have pictures of the fresh snow?
  19. Very very very cool. Those are great pictures - looks like an amazing place!
  20. Advisable for solo right now?
  21. If you are looking to get to regular summer trailheads during the winter than no 4 wheel vehicle is going to help with that - truck or car. The mountains just get far too much snow for that to practical. If you are intersted in a vehicle that is good all around in rain, snow, etc. I would definently recommend an Audi at the upper price point and the for a bit cheaper - the other recommendations like the subbie or tac-truck are good suggestions. -josh
  22. I watched the Rangers-Yankees game tonight and it pretty much sounded like a NY crowd a good portion of the time. Personally, I'd rather not have people throwing crap around at opposing fans.

    World Class?

Yes, I'm sure my quote was mistaken as attributable to you... I see you completely ignored the point I made, which you know is correct - with a Seattle-centric economy, paying taxers to support projects which exist largely within the city is not only nescessary but benifical to everybody. Like it or not, it's true. Anyway, it's 46 billion degrees in here, and I have better things to do then sit on the comp.

    World Class?

As most Seattleites seem to forget, light rail/Sound Transit is being paid for by the good people in both Pierce and Snohomish Counties too. ...Despite Seattle/King County's control of the RTA board and constant "shortening" of the line. Explain to me again why I'm paying for these projects? As for the Sonics....Fuck 'em. I have yet to see where any taxpayer-funded pro-sports payoff resides. Because King county's economy and tax revenue is what makes this state go, esp. the surrounding counties. What benefits the econonomy of Seattle and king county benefits you, like it or not. As for the convention center - once more, that is something that draws mucho business $$ which benefits you. You can bitch about king county and Seattle all you want, but the rest of the area would not be what it is without it.
