Sweet report man, nice job. Question for ya...is the price this time of year really worth it as a climb objective? I want to do it late in the season, when it's an icefall full of alpine ice. It seems this time of year it would be mostly upper-moderate angle snow (which was obviously better for your object...skiing). Is that about right? It seems from your pics that you guys traversed over very high beneath the nooksack tower. The one time I tried it we got on to the icefall lower down. Probably easier your way in the winter, easier our way in the summer. -josh

And FWIW, maybe I"m confused, but I've never referred to the stuarts as a whole as the "enchantments" The enchantments really only refers to the plateau and lakes as far as I know. Other than that, what Alex said is right on. I'm sure any alpine ice routes that were in, are still in and probably great right now. I plan to climb some high elevation rock this weekend, but you'll catch me on easy blocky stuff.

I would glady trade WORK to go back to SCHOOL. Work demands more total time, has less tolerance for skipping, less vacation time, and most importantly NO CHICKS IN CHEERLEADER OUTFITS. I cannot stress this enough. Being around good looking girls all day is so many thousands of times better than being stuck in an office full of men (nerdy ones at that.)

If you had kids in public school as I do, you'd understand. I am 100% pro science education. My children must be taught scientific method, evolution, and all of the other things that the religious right kooks often decry as blasphemy. However, "environmentalism" is not currently presented in a scientific fashion in primary public schools. It is presented emotion over reason, and skepticism is scorned, not embraced and explored. It has, in fact, become a religion to many on the left. I stand by my statement. I'm curious what beliefs you believe the left wing conspiracy has instilled in your chilren? I attended public school (ok, granted, a while ago...but my memory is decent) and don't recall anything untrue taught in the name of environmentalism.

Because they don't think the two have anything to do with each other; does it? For many centuries muslims had a great reputation for encouraging a questioning style of education, and were mostly responsible for the protection of scientific documents that the Christian Church wanted burned. From the books and articles I've read it seemed like the academic's Paradise, both for men and women alike. To this day it appears that the Christian church is largely resistant to scientific discoveries because they view it as a threat to their faith, whereas muslims are the exact opposite. I would like to point out though, that I feel like Islam today appears to be going away from its roots, and straying into general oppression of individual freedom. Gotcha...I kind of misundestood the phrasing of the points. The point you make is valid. I am by no means defending the history of the christian chruch. It's been **FAR** more destructive to the world throughout history than the muslim faith has. Unfortunately, you are right when you say it seems today's Islam is more about restricting freedom and simply opposing anything non-Muslim than encouraging teaching, etc.

Thanks for the info. My "run" on si generally degrades into a very fast hike, truth be told. Still sounds like great excercise, which is what I'm aiming for.

I want to go for a run after lunch today. I was going to go do mount si, cause it's quick and I know where it is. everybody is always taking about mailbox peak. I admit a change of locale would be nice. how do I get there and how does it compare to si in distance, elevation, etc? i'm just looking for an uphill jog, so views/etc. are secondary.
