You aren't talking about this W/E are ya?
-
OK, how about this, IF you could make one change..

I would have had my axe out during that descent from the false summit of stuart on wet, slick snow (in tennis shoes ) several years ago. Nothing like a bunch of spring snow scrapes and a "self arrest" my slamming into some rocks a hundred feet below (feet first thankfully) -
I think the whole "they run narrow" or whatever is BS. If the boot fits, it fits. La Sportiva is supposed to be a very narrow boot and I have two pairs, yet I have very fat feet.

The corner pole "receptacle" on the ID is better than the bibler. The vents are also better, IMO.

I was surprised too...Baker and Rainer both have above average snow pack.

Fixed it...forgot to climb the stupid submit button!

Sweet, thanks a lot for the info. I am going to be on a road trip with my girlfriend, and she expressed interest in trying an ice climb, so I think that puts slipstream out of the question. Not like I'd have a chance in hell of climbing it any way. Shades of beauty was a really nice climb, maybe we'll go try that.

Where would be the best bet to find some still-in ice in the cdn rockies after March 20. It looks like I am going to be up there anyway for other reasons and hope to possibly escape for an ice climb or two. I've heard rumors that there is stuff that stays in that late? Any tips? thanks, -josh

Sweet! So does that mean you guys got up the headwall, or did you just climb the C/D? We noticed a lenticular over Baker for part of the day and wondered if you were sitting under the one could in the cascades yesterday. -

So what was the result on Baker, man? -
Climb: Eldorado Peak-Eldorado Glacier / East Ridge Date of Climb: 3/2/2004 Trip Report: Ski Toured Eldo's East Ridge with Sky and his friend Ben yesterday. Gorgeous day, perfect climbing conditions and perfect snow for skiing down. The climbing up was super fast thanks to it being hard where we needed to boot up and perfect for skinning where we skinned up. My only regret was not recovering my legs enough since last trip; It made skiing down the 5k+ of perfect backcountry hard for a hack like me! Watching Sky and Ben tear it up was awesome. Can't ask for much more. I'll post some pics when I get home from school and resize them all. Gear Notes: Skis, skins, normal BC ski shit, some warm clothing. Brought poons and axes, didn't need them once. Approach Notes: It was sheer hell.

Ok Josh, here ya go, stock models, subbing the chip will probably get you more gain in the 'stang than in the roo: 2004-2005 WRX Sti: 0-60 4.7sec, 1/4mile 13.2sec, topspeed 152mph, mpg 18/24, $32,000. 2004 Ford Mustang Cobra: 0-60 4.5sec, 1/4mile 12.9sec, topspeed 155mph (electronic limited), mpg 16/24, $34,000. Read two months ago(?) american muscle car or something or other mag. They compared the two. WRX was faster 0-to-60 and in the quarter mile. And this was a comparison done by a mag specializing in american muscle. About the chip, you must not know much about the motor in either of these cars. The chip makes a huge diff in teh sub, and will make almost no diff in the cobra. The WRX's motor is turbocharged, they are easy as hell to get extra power out of with a chip. Just crank up the boost. You can't do that with the V8. You can bump the timing and the fuel curve a bit but you'll get a few HPs tops. Finally, as distel pointed out, you can make up for the lack of AWD. Throw some performance winter tires on (Dunlop makes a nice V rated winter tire) and you've got a 370hp sports car that'll get you up to the pass better than any SUV. That isn't even addressing handling, which hasn't ever been mustang's strong suit. Interestingly enough, a lot of the mustang guys actually remove the cobra's stock IRS and put a live axle back since the IRS is prety lousy. Also, funny that they say the subby tops out at 152. I've had mine up to 155 and let off with it still pulling like hell

They are sweet tents. I love mine.

In the case off teh dude biting it on the emmons that is operator error. Alum crampons rock. If you aren't an idiot and know when and where you can and can't use them, you'll be more than happy with their performance. I got some of those camps from Jim Nelson, after his recommendation due to his expirience withalum crampons in the NW coulior on Eldo. I have been super happy with mine.

It became clear that the market for yuppies who want SUVs had far outpaced the market for people who actually want a legit 4WD truck. Hence the transistion of the 4runner from a very reasonable off-road truck to this bloat thing they now sell.
-
The best thing somebody could do is leave a car at the upper lot, refuse to move it when the hicks harasss you then somehow film them vandalizing your car. That footage would probably help further the fight against them.
-
Hahahaha...the one piece snowmobile suits are about the gayest thing I have ever seen.
-
Oh, and for the record Audi has dominated SpeedVision GT and LeMans for years now.;
-
Find me an american car that'll compete with a modded Subaru WRX WTI for less than $32k. An easy exhaust install and a computer mod and it pushs 370hp and gets to 60 in somewhere near 4 1/2 seconds. Not to mention the japanese actually have a concept of something called "handling" Anyway, this is pointless, we were talking about junk SUVs runing the market for lots of other neat cars over the past decade
-
I dunno, my girlfriend's jetta with the VR6 it's faster than most POS american cars with V8s.
-
A lot of really cool cars started to disappaer in the past decade due to the american market becoming more and more interested in shitty, low quality, gas-guzzling, poor-handling vehicles (SUVs.) I mean, after all why would you want efficience, build quality, acceleration and decent handling?
