In Russia, climbers begin leading trad at 5.11b A3 on their first day. If they can't make it to the top of the 10p route, they are not a climber. We would call such a person an Amerikanski.
Ooops, wrong avatar....
Climbing reviews your nuts.
I own a set of Huevos (4-12) and they work fine. I've also used BDs and can't tell the difference.
You can get a full set (1-13) from gearexpress.com for $60.
Liquor? I don't even know her!!! Bwahahahahahahaha!!!
Just make sure the test results are in before you go there....
Those are gifts that keep on giving.
To turn this thread back toward the topic....
REI was started by climbers like you. Now it is the big Evil Empire. What happened. Who is at fault? Did conservative businessmen take over the coop and impose their will, or were the liberal granola folks lured to the dark side by the money and power?
Discuss.
Sit-ups and crunches will do the same thing.
And I have the license to market sit-ups and crunches used for carrying heavy loads with a backpack.
No. It's not the same thing (are you gonna walk while simultaneously tightening your gut?).
The gut pad is supposed to yield very noticeable results. Here's a quote:
"I wouldn't go backpacking without one." --Rick Ridgeway
But I haven't tried one.
Ummm, you do walk around with some tension in the abdominal muscles. As you increase the load in your pack, you increase the tension in these muscles. Strength training of these muscles will allow you to carry larger loads more comfortably.
Try it for yourself. Strap on a big pack and hike while poking yourself in the stomach. Unless you are perfectly balanced, the muscles will have some tension.
Can't argue with that.
I spoke with one of skiers involved in the avalanche at Crystal, and he was grateful that the folks were able to respect their privacy and keep away the pack of baying news hounds.
I don't watch King 5 News.
It sucks.
