Rose and Thistle. The scotch egg is to die for....if you don't die from eating it.
  10. spelling remains a steady 4th class however
  11. golly, I didn't think about that!
  12. pfft Earth First doesn't mess around with syrup and sugar and whatnot. They just set the thing on fire!
  13. I sleep in the outhouse and lock the door. There's always room for iain at the grasslands!
  14. then throw a match in the crooked river and set it on fire
  15. The best are the 9 dog dirt tornadoes that form periodically.
  16. How else can you share tokes in the basement of the campus nuclear reactor?
  17. actually it looks very much like the first eruption, which had an ash component which drifted to the west out of the crater.
  18. Don't get me wrong, I like a good beer or three, but I've never understood why people drive from, say, Seattle all the way to Smith to get totally trashed and end up nursing a hangover in such a cool place to climb. You can't expect to always have a quiet night at the grasslands, but those who party should have some awareness of how much noise they make.
  19. awesome. I bet people were freaking!
  20. Yeah I bet as the vertical rubble was drying out, it lost a lot of its strength, a lot like how sand falls over as it dries losing its ideal angle of repose. So much of that stuff is just teetering up there, I bet even minor seismic activity over at Helens was enough energy to tip the balance. The same activity was very noticable on Rainier seismic stations at Longmire and Camp Schurman so I bet you could tie increased activity up there with St. Helens. There's a thesis in here somewhere... I did talk with some folks who were staying at Silcox Hut as we were bringing that climber down. Seemed like a nice group of people, but what a bunch of skiing hardcases! I told the lone telemarker not to take any sh!t from the AT skiers. I was jealous of the skiing going on as I had to walk down.
  21. here's barry in our regulator jacket...oh and here he is lounging in a das parka...come celebrate the romantic simplicity of alpinism . . . and buy our $70 jeans while you are there! It would be fun being a patagonia catalog writer. Jeans. Uses: Traipsing through the backroads of Mongolia, working on the vw bus, mending barbed wire fences...
  22. Mr. Carter is also a Nobel laureate. I doubt GWB will be heading to Stockholm anytime soon. That is, if he knows where Stockholm is.
  23. Whatever happens, you can bet Yamhill county schools will be closed for it.
  24. I've noticed this too. Bush was much, much more smooth during the 2000 campaign. He was a lot more relaxed. Perhaps he's just on too much of the defensive these days. He's a different person than back in 2000. After all, his campaign was anchored on a hatred of nation-building!
