    Hide Avatars??

while I may not appreciate his arrogant and abrasive tone at times, I admire him for speaking his mind! You should pat yourself on the back imorris.

    Pickets

if I keep them on my pack and expect to use them in a glacier emergency (while lying down, etc) I clip webbing to them and clip the webbing to a pack strap by my shoulder so I have a reference point to grab and pull on (like a ripcord) to get a picket in quick (rather than flailing with an arm trying to grab the top of a picket, which is not hard, but when you might be freaked out a bit could be difficult).

    Pickets

on a vaguely related note I like SMC's I-Picket over the MSR ones. Seems a little less bulky and lighter. Dunno about it's holding strength in comparison
  14. excellent I'm spending the next weekend at Crystal as a charity event to ease the suffering of our lands I'll be sure to have a large beer to make it really count

  16. quote: Originally posted by MtnGoat: And yet these same people are the ones who demand the most services. What we have is people who do not generate enough resources for themselves, demanding someone *else* work to serve them. so much for "give me your huddled masses".
  17. one fun winter activity is experimenting with how quickly and efficiently you can bivy w/o getting cold and snow-coated in a blizzard AND getting a good night's sleep. a good place for this is above Timberline Lodge. Just dig in (no snow cave) and practice getting into bivy sack etc w/o getting too much snow in and getting a good night's sleep in howling wind/snow etc. If problems arise bail into Timberline Lodge's living room by fireplace!
  18. avi's not so bad you just have to stay on TOP

  21. ah greg's a'trollin' once again. don't you have some sport climbers to snuggle with right now? the portaledge is always open Pooh-lover, I'll put a Zima on ice for you.

  23. I don't need another lecture in cirque generation either, I've had enough geomorphology.
  24. I'm bored, hence I post immediately. I talk bull to stir up more talk, hence I spray. Cascades more heavily affected by the Pleistocene glaciation have harder routes in general on them.
