    U THINK I CARE?

  2. okay
  3. that lycopodophyta thing is a pretty good, forgiving, nut-setting lesson
  4. ..but don't let that stop you
  5. 'cept if you fall on it and become a human crayon
  6. cinnamon slab is the worst climb at smith.
  7. 160's. Usually w/ the modern skis, something a little shorter than you tall are does well. Obviously the ski experiences weight, not height though. 162 puts you right there. The mira/diamir/magic setup is a sweet setup if I may say so. In the end, I bet you adapt to whatever you have on your feet though. I've skied 175-192. I weigh 180ish. Hope that helps.

I ate an entire box of Kellogg's "Fruit Harvest" cereal today.
  10. there sure are some surly canadians on the board this afternoon
  11. hey that makes me feel great, thanks. I guess there's not much to do on lead on the pillar part except lasso those chockstones.
  12. oh oh and the first 3 feet of Wedding Day
  13. the last 5 feet of 5.9 jill's thrill, beacon the 10ish offwidth start to free for all, beacon the last 3 feet of any route at tieton.
  14. fierce! how about classic crack at Broughton's. 5.9
  15. and to have to look at those sweet powder spoons all day? sickening.
  16. When I was looking up my next project I noticed White Wedding at Smith has a bolt placed specifically to work out the crux to avoid repeated whippers, then is usually skipped for the send. Not that Smith is a good place to turn to when answering bolting questions
  17. only it wouldn't be running half the time and there'd be lines all the way to Parkdale.
  18. if you look at the south side aerial photo in the climber's register, you can see the strip of snow from govy up to the lodge where that thing was traveling.
  19. The lookup collapsed in the 40's from the extreme weather and just becoming run-down in general. I can only imagine the conditions it faced. The signs off the thing look like they've been sandblasted.
  20. I came across this cool picture of when Silcox was the upper lift terminal for the Magic Mile too. I like hanging around Timberline looking at where things used to be. Be careful doing avalanche beacon practice around the Salmon River canyon area, there's a bunch of buried metal and cables from the lifts.
  21. from personal experience, that person is moments away from a hand full of chicken turds.
  22. that's exactly the question being asked about the old engine over on crater rock. I say leave it be. Along with all that helicopter prop in the upper fumarole
  23. here's another shot from the Mazamas, ~1917
  24. I think it was used to help get the timbers up to the lookout, but some mining might have been going on too, I don't remember. I'll have to ask the old-timers.
  25. The cables on Cooper Spur go back to when Cloud Cap was the "Timberline" of the mountain. Cooper Spur was the standard route up the mountain, and ropes were hauled up there and fixed for groups to climb up. Since the ropes were so heavy, group sizes had to be pretty large. Classic photos of women in huge dresses going up Cooper Spur are out there. The materials on the summit are what's left of the lookout. The sign on the lookout is down in the Cloud Cap Inn, along with a bit of the rope that was up on the mountain. I'm not sure how the steel cables come into play. There is also the old engine sitting down by crater rock, a step back in time. A fun way to go up to it is via the ice gulley bisecting crater rock.
