  3. maybe I should just say if you fly on alpine helicopter flights out of golden under the auspices of the acc, it might hurt, how's that
  4. When I flew with Alpine Helicopter out of Golden, they requested a list of credit card numbers from the group before they lifted off, and seemed to want to make it clear that they would be heavily used if they had to come get us. I guess that's not definitive, but I was glad to have amer. alpine club insurance. Maybe it was more of a bluffing statement than anything, but I didn't want to risk it! It may also be that the trip was sponsored through the calgary section of acc (this was to the Clemenceau area) and a friend and I were hitching a ride. Maybe it's different elsewhere? Seemed much more likely to be billed than in the states. Though it's not like there's a lot of remote terrain like that in the lower 48
  5. Helicopter rides are expensive no matter how you cut it. Get rescued in Canada and it will hurt. I don't see why they can't use mast for this stuff though. That's were all the cash is, and they do the job for free. Almost all air support for rescues in Oregon has been handled by the air force in the past, and now the nat'l guard. There is good cooperation between rescue units and these organizations. The result is free rescues.

There is no compromise. It's quite simple. If you don't AT ski you are a communist. A sissy, patcholi-smelling, Medeski-Martin-and-Wood-listening, k2/free tibet-bumpersticker-brandishing communist.
  8. I would expect a fair amount of slide/sluff activity this weekend, who knows though. All I know is those routes are more fun when the snow is consolidated and icy. trudging through freshiez - not nearly as fun and potentially boring for you hard core dudes who only want the tough stuff.

our one and only Portland native Gus Van Sant! Heard it's good, have not seen it yet. The real problem with hunting elephants is carrying the decoys.

I just have to ask - why the camo clothing in the winter?
  18. what is this, smith rock? bad attitude, for any mountain.
  19. I believe your definition is the more common one as in: "Dropping a load of beef on a bitchs chest!" Maybe you could settle for any time feces from one partner is found on the other, regardless of the technique.
  20. e-rock your avatar image is misleading. I believe an alternative definition of the hot karl is filling a sock with freshiez and swinging it at victim while shouting "hot karl"! run away at top speed while victim remains incapacitated. similar, but not quite the same as "the emeril" BAM!
  21. what happened to all that homeland security money? handheld turban sensors?
  22. those turns off the very top would be f'ing airy but then below the notch quite doable (and done) by the right folks.
  23. dunno if it has been done. ask the old guys at the hoodoo bar. :-) but maybe the ne shoulder then make a sharp right down thayer hw. Would be straightforward after that but jawdropping first few moves, for sure. pretty much guaranteed fatality if that is not obvious.
