I accepted when I started climbing that I was not climbing because I was going to be "good" at it. I am not athleticly gifted in any way shape or fourm. I climb because it is fun. I think it is great that people push the envelope and climb harder and faster and better. that better gear is invented. I will consider myself lucky when I become a mediocre climber. what I did not know as a kid and what turned me off of most sports was the idea that you have to be good at something to enjoy it or keep doing it. for me that is not the case in climbing. I suck and I don't care. I am just glad there are people that continue to climb with me even though I am not pushing for 5.12 oh and glassgowkiss I work out at least 4 days a week, I have been climbing for 5 years and have a bodyfat percentage of 21%... 5.10 is my limit so far. I work hard and I am improving my leading is getting better. but I think as with all athletics there is a part that is just gift. 5.9=D 5.10=C 5.11=B 5.12=A and any better than that and you don't need me to tell you you rock

Some of the reports scare the shit outta ya - really! I'm starting to wonder about you guys...generally I try to spend as little time on the toilet as possible . If I were to keep a stack of climbing literature in the bathroom, I wouldn't want to leave. COOL NEW AVITARE oh and I have two kids so the only quiet place I have to read is the bathroom and I keep a mag in there because I am lucky if I get 10 minutes of peace

I bet that if you are bouldering alot you are loosing skin from the chalk. It super dries out your skin and damages it. MOISTERIZE use lotion. LOTS of it . especialy after you get home and shower and before bed. You need not buy the most expensive lotion. you can also use bag balm it works realy well but feels sorta greasy. p.s. the lotion isn't wearing off it is seeping in. re apply as often as you can stand it... bagbalm before bed. seriously it realy helps

Hey minx, you sound like a guy! I think Mr. E's bud just needed some balance in his life. Unless you're a dyed-in-the-wool academic, a life of 'not doing it/just teaching it' would drive you crazy. Getting into an in-the-moment/physical sport offered a counterbalance. I actualy learn better the way minx described

isn't "genius" a talent as well? a skill you are born with an aptitude for? dancing climbing even learning... personaly I think it more impressive to learn to be good at something you do not have an aptitude for.

I am so sorry Rumr and Rocksanyone. My best friend who was suposed to come with me camping for the weekend has backed out. The kids have decided they want to do stuff arround town, and it seems as thoughg I have been out voted. I feel like I have to explain here, this weekend is the boys cashout weekend. They have been saving points since Feb. for an activity of their choice with auntie Mustang Sally. and this is the weekend. It wouldn't be very fair of me to dictate their specail weekend when they have worked so hard having good behavior and doing chores arround the house to be able to choose their activity. So any way, I hope you have a great tme. I wish we could be there too Hopefuly another time.

waldorf is awsome! I checked it out before thing 1 started school. The cost was prohibative but it seems to me that the education is more interesting. as I read threw the schools information I could only think that I wanted to go to that school. I wish we could have swung it. I am willing to bet that is not the last time I say that as my kids go threw public education.
