Did you climb anything over on the Apron? Looks kinda slabby, talus at the bottom looks right for over there too.
-
We humans do this all the time, odds are you yourself have already done this today. I don't think you can commute to work without doing it.

At least the pack wasn't still attached to a torso, unlike Toni Egger's boot...

Damn, glad you and your partner came through okay. Maybe you should both buy lottery tickets...

Libtards on Parade: Alcoholism, Corruption, Murder
Off_White replied to Fairweather's topic in Spray
No Fairweather, it's just that most folks with the opinions expressed on the back of that Jeep are too ashamed to show them to the public, being somewhat aware of just how their selfish/racist/fascist/theocratic posture makes them appear to reasonable human beings. It doesn't prevent them from acting out their shameful beliefs in the privacy of the voting booth though. But what horrible opinions on the back of the libtard mobile, eh? Which opposite positions do you embrace from the back of the Prius? Hell yes, more war Burn more gasoline to make the world better Health care only for the special Trains are for losers and the poor Women are lesser, Ginger Rogers deserved second billing Your body, my choice Fun is determined by your ability to buy stuff Screw coexistence, I'll kill you if you don't agree Anti Family, Pro Male A Woman's Place is on the Bottom Sounds like a fine list of values for anyone willing to be certified as a worthless asshole. Is this your tribe? Do you want to step up to the plate and own these positions? That's what I hear you saying. -
Recent photos suggest perhaps even more like the mossed over face climbs right of Private Idaho at Index.

Hell, if Lowell of all people smells a rat and no one from back in the day (a fairly small lot) remembers the lad, it's worth a rigorous inspection. If only I didn't dwell in the land of the lotus eaterszzz....

Libtards on Parade: Alcoholism, Corruption, Murder
Off_White replied to Fairweather's topic in Spray
Well fuckin' hell, I was prepared to just lay some slur down on Fairweather and put him down for a nap, but now that Jay has got involved I might have to do some actual research. Oh, you rotten bastard, some of us have to work! -
Here's Dan McDevitt demonstrating the system I cadged off him. It's a microcender on the top, with slings used just to keep it up, and a no handle ascender as a bottom back up, all done with lockers that prevent cross loading. The top primary piece pinches like a Gibbs, with rounded teeth that are gentle on the rope, and the bottom piece grips the sheath with teeth like a Jumar does. Given that Dan is one of the safest climbers out there (partly due to his extensive Yosemite rescue experience) I've been pretty confident in using his system. I really just do this on the crag in my yard, so the lines are fairly straight and nothing is taller than 75', and I use a couple of lengths of static rope sized to fit the crag. The static rope is stiff, and has a very durable sheathe, and I don't go anywhere or make little squeaking noises when I fall. If you're down in The Valley in the winter you'll find Arch Rock festooned with various people's fixed ropes, specifically done to provide an amazing solo tr workout situation.

Libtards on Parade: Alcoholism, Corruption, Murder

Sorry Fairweather, I know I'm just phoning it in, it was just that your litany of oppression made me think you wanted a paradise free from regulation, and then I just wanted to see that video again, and thought you might also. Included your family because I thought it would be rude to suggest sending you away without them, not as any kind of poke. You didn't respond to my earlier post and I still don't get what your point is here. -

Can we take up a collection so Fairweather (and family!) can find true freedom? [video:youtube]7QDv4sYwjO0 -
Libtards on Parade: Alcoholism, Corruption, Murder
Off_White replied to Fairweather's topic in Spray
Yeah, and Ted Bundy was a Republican, so what's your point? Do you propose collating the political affiliation of everyone in the U.S. who's done terrible things, assign some numeric value based on a "horrific index" and create an average, thereby giving us some sort of metric which we'll use to assess the value of various policy initiatives? Who exactly is on parade here? -
Oh! Now surely here you overstep! I'm a total cat lady, no way would I condone kitten crushing.

[TR] Dragontail Peak - Backbone Ridge 6/15/2014

Good job keeping it together. Here's another bit of hindsight: When you hit the fin and knew you were late, you could have bailed off to the right on the Hidden Couloir north face route, a faster and easier option. Scoot all the way across the base of the fin on that ledge, over a rib, over another rip and up, then more traverse right and up. Maybe 5.7, with a steep bit to finish onto the summit block. That's what we did when we were benighted (party of 3, no headlamps, in early May, but all had axes & crampons) and we butt glissaded the slope down to Asgard pass in the pitch black and bivied somewhere on the pass where we found enough wood for a fire. -
Kellie, you've been making the case for 9 years now that climbers should stay away from the Madrone Wall to keep from messing up access negotiations, but that approach hasn't yielded a lot of results. The outcome so far doesn't seem any better than if every climber in Portland vowed to climb at Madrone at every opportunity. When civil obedience isn't even given the courtesy of having calls or emails returned, it might be time to reconsider the strategy.

And that's a damned shame. I never met him, but being one degree of separation away I've heard a lot of friends talk about what a great guy he was, and what a loss of a real deal climber.

Here's a link to a talking head: http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/pro-life-means-anti-drone/ You're probably right about the legislators, aside from Paul and Wyden (50/50 split on the parties there) no one is kicking up much fuss. It was that American Conservative article that put the notion in my mind I think, probably supported by some random fringe tea party drivel that was less memorable. Most Democrats aren't much stirred up about it either, until you get more out to the edges in territory like Huffington Post or The Green Party and such. I think it's a fine example of the same sort of hypocrisy I'm griping about on the left. I guess the majority in both parties are more concerned about dead children at a school killed by them than dead children killed by us using drones. Just so Fairweather can follow along on what I'm alluding to: this versus this Where did I say that Jay? It's a pretty common human failing, not limited to any party or ideology. However, the whole "Mommy mommy, Timmy is being bad too!" thing is just a smokescreen, not a rebuttal. Other people doing bad things does not excuse doing them yourself.

For the record, I have never actually shot anyone, and 5K isn't even on the list if I decide I need a new hobby.

5K, it is my interpretation of the actions and statements of assorted conservative talking heads and legislative members. They're concerned about Obama's use of drones and the death of innocent Muslim civilians, but think that torture and death of innocent Muslims under the Bush administration was justified and useful? Hey, go ahead and pretend the emperor is fully clothed, but don't be shaking your finger at me for pointing out the obvious. Yeah, yeah, "the right wing" is a broad brush, and it was a cheap joke, not a shaggy dog story, so a bunch of qualifying blabbage about who in particular I include in that description, and a qualifier that of course I don't mean my dear friend KaskadyskyjKozak would mess with the flow of my soundbite.
