  1. You'll notice I got better as time went by. It's tough when an avatar is hard to read that way, like the tinkerbell with all the vertical punctuation and KK (which is merely due to my unfamiliarity with the language the name comes from).
  2. Mr Weekend seems to have come a long ways from the "how was your morning" thread.
  3. Cluck, thanks for the first hand report, as well as the work you're doing.
  4. This Friday is going to be a good day to watch out, supposedly they're having a big anti dui/speed/reckless emphasis day with lots of extra cops on the street.
  5. 123(etc), considering in your very first post here you start off calling someone an asshole, and virtually every post in your short history has the words fuck, dick, or contains offers to duke it out, you're an odd duck to pretend to be all twitchy about implied profanity in an admonishment to play nice, which was not directed at you personally but several others as well. Professional? No one pays me to deal with this stuff. If you have a sincere complaint about my actions or attitude, take it up with the Administrators here. Mods have been sacked before.
  6. You should go read this thread on Supertopo, Peter Haan's excellent first hand account of the first ascent of Wheat Thin.
  7. Just a pinch between the cheek and gum...
  8. Wheat Thin, you mean the route that was rap bolted and "comfortized" with a hammer by Jim Bridwell? Well, yeah, it'd be scary as hell to climb that on cams. Jens, have you been on that one in Leavenworth? Looks hollow in pictures, but it could just be that too much sandstone only reinforces my wussiness.

    Just for RuMR

You are a most excellent protocol droid.
  10. Oh, I think he's referring to my acronym, which is no certainly no more an obscenity than snafu, fubar, or rtfm, other acronyms in the common lexicon. I don't see the need to get all shirty about drilling times and bit composition, this thread is just a request for technical information, not a pissing match. If the babysitter is too mean for you, go tell mommy.
  11. reet reet reet CTFO peeps.
  12. Jerry Cooke from Brooklyn is Fuggedaboudit, one of the two who went for help. I'm sure hoping for a happy ending.
  13. I've always understood that those catalytics still gave off carbon monoxide, am I wrong? Be double careful and check it out E, asphyxiation would be an avoidable premature departure.
  14. Raindawg, you know perfectly well that when you refer to a debate opponent as "Sparky" you're engaging in diminution of that person's opinion. On the other hand, you haven't done that in this thread, and I appreciate the efforts to leave that stuff behind. Actually, neither RD or Pope have engaged in insults in this conversation, with the exception of a couple of responses to incivility on other's parts. This is the best advancement of their individual but related philosophies that I can recall.
  15. It's likely that she found the salacious attention here unwelcome. Pity, I liked her TR's and attitude.
  16. Huh, I was only aware of the one just west of Easy Pass, and thought that Fisher Pass was actually up a side stream that's a couple miles further down the valley. Haven't been to the pass, but I recall it being described in the Logan Cross Country Route in the Green Beckey. I looked up the slope the guide said to go up while heading into the Douglas Glacier end of Logan.
  17. Just to confirm, our newly arrived Mr. ST does not appear to be a reincarnation of the infamous Arc et. al.
  18. Erik, I just love that you're ever the optimist. Have a good weekend, I look forward to part II.
  19. I think Cyclop's Eye is one of the all time great "take someone climbing for the first time" routes. Time was there was a sofa on top for taking in the sunset.
  20. Kev, I think Pope put it here on purpose. Sure, he likes to stir the pot, but I don't think he's spraying here. I'm leaving this here because I want to see the subject treated with some respect. Agree or disagree, the conversation has merit.
  21. Sure, and some old school 5.9 testpieces like Papa Woolsey and The Waterchute. There's a lot more that are (were?) worse, the dreaded Joshua Tree 5.9, but I'm drawing a blank on the names.
  22. There are plenty of lines at Smith that are not sport routes. I don't share Pope's perspective, but I don't doubt his sincerity or character. Pope's suggestion is in the fine tradition of peaceful protest. This is the Climbers Board, not Spray, and as a moderator I'd ask everyone to discuss the ideas rather than trash the personalities involved. Passion is fine, but insult is inappropriate.
  23. It's no giveaway, but I've always loved that kind of climbing. Probably due to the nature of bouldering at Santee and the fact that the trail to Suicide was easier and shorter than the one to Tahquitz.
  24. The ACLU has done something to offend everyone, that's a point in their favor in my book.
  25. Great routes not mentioned yet: Breakfast of Champions Rubicon Illusion Dweller Solid Gold Bird on a Wire Run for your Life I've always wanted to do I Can't Believe It's a Girdle, it might be great...
