  1. Well my VERY unscientific research tells me this: since I posted this question I have experimented with Cytomax, before during and after my workouts in an attempt to distinguish any difference in the way my body "feels"after an intense workout. My perceived "feeling" is that I am able to sustain a higher intensity level during the training episode and my recovery times after seem shorter. I have also noticed a distinct drop in lingering lactic acid in my legs. So, placebo or not, Cytomax seems to work as advertised. (for me anyway)
  2. Waaaa! I can't get the attachments to open
  3. Norm, talk with sketch too. I can't remember when, but I think he was planning for another sufferfest. Currently, I am planning on giving this another shot on the weekend of Sept. 20th. I think this will be enough time for me to recover from the 100 mile sufferfest that I will be participating in at the end of Aug. in CO. Remembering how strong you and Norman were when we tried it before, I can only imagine the hurt that Norman would put on me now that he's REALLY been training. Although I think I'm going to be better prepared this time, read: lighter F-ing pack, NO hiking boots. So Norm, if you think you might want a partner, who can't guarantee that he can keep your pace, shoot me an email
  4. Yeah, I got one too. For a survey about the wilderness, they only really want to know about a couple of places: Hood, Adams, N. Sister
  5. DFA, where did you get this info? That'd be sweet if it's true, but I need some proof before I wonder in to find out its BS and get a big fat ticket.
  6. Ry, Is that just drinking the Cyto after the strenuous activity or during as well? Thanks
  7. Which is better for electrolite replacement, before, during and after exercise and why? anyone know or really care?
  8. Yeah, I didn't think that the "training cell.." thing was a reality, just something I had started to wonder about. I have undertaken some fairly physical endeavors at "NW" altitudes, but I have never pushed myself at competition level while at 10K. I'm not so worried about the mileage as I am about the combination of dehydration and altitude. Either way, I figure I'm gonna get my ass kicked and try to figure out why exactly I paid good money to do this. The race is called the Beavercreek Ultra 100, used to be called the Vail 100, I think the Leadville is 1 or 2 weeks before the Ultra.
  9. There is none better than the Sanction, Clint
  10. Bets on Timmy
  11. What's the web address?
  12. Classic!
  13. Pete, It depends on what you are comfortable climbing. Even though I was being a worry-wort, when I was there last summer and asked the team to stay roped and put in a piece or two, it wasn't really necessary as I found out. It's really just a class 5-ish scramble and the 5-ish part is really short. I think we only ended up using a tricam or two and mainly just threading the rope around natural formations. Good luck, let us know where you meet the snow .
  14. Shred, what up, I can't get the link to open. Help me I'ma computer gaper.
  15. Shut up Timmy, we're all tired of hearing about all the climbing and skiing you get to do while you have the month of June off, you are suck
  16. 95 views and only one response. Anyone got any other ideas? btw: thanks Sky, the race is called the Ultra 100
  17. I will be competing in a 100 mile mtn bike race in Vail at the end of August. I will be arriving one week early to see some friends and acclimate. During my week of acclimatization I will be staying at about 7k and am looking at some easy rides prior to the race to help with the altitude adjustment. My question/worry is, since I will be coming from sea level to 7k, then during the race up to almost 11k, severe performance level drop and altitude sickness. I know that from my climbing if I stay super hydrated, I normally don't feel any drop in perceived performance or even experience the typical headache that a lot of my climbing friends enjoy. I have heard, although I can't remember where, that you can train your body to absorb more water by gradually increasing you intake over a period of time. Does anyone know if this is true? It seems to me that your body/cells are like a sponge and that they can only hold so much of anything, once they are full, thats it, the body gets rid of the excess. OR, can you change/adjust your bodies "thinking"to make those cells expand (like the folds in your stomach) into holding more liquid? Other than continuing to increase my overall fitness and maintaining a high level of hydration are there any other methods of improving pre-race hydration to help deal with such exertion at this altitude?
  18. Hey Shuks, what time are you thinking about running up? If it's early enough I might be able to squeeze that in. send me an email and let me know
  19. Sky, don't forget to rest. Even though you might think that you need to ride a lot to improve or take you to the next level, rest between hard workouts can be the best solution. It's a tear down and rebuilding process that does not come quickly, but it will allow you to come back from a recovery session stronger than you went into it. Oh, and drink LOTS of water.
  20. Weather is freakin awesome and I'm stuck in the office staring out the window with absolutely no hope of escape until 4:30 this afternoon. Boy how a sounds good right now.
  21. Whatever! Having grown up in Seattle I can honestly say that one rainforest looks like just like the next. No chestbeating just a few people looking at attempting something fairly physically demanding. To each his own.
  22. Some made it in under 24, others did not (I of which am one that did not). It's not a thing for the masses, only a personal choice, no chestbeating here, merely the physical challange.
  23. ooohh crickey, I'm not sure that the masses can handle the full truth regarding the devastation and carnage that can only be call "The Bend Pole, Peddle, Paddle" Somethings are better left unsaid for the safety of those invloved and those that survived.
  24. Depends on who you are asking timmy. I think Funguy and I have been talking about going the end of Aug / first of Sept. Although I think we have had a change of plans which now has us simply flying over the general region in a small plane in order to uphold the highest of - style and standards
  25. Damn it!! work has got me tied up and now a friggin company dinner has been last minute scheduled for Wednesday night. Can't make the bbq, I was so looking forward to some of TG's brew, but I'm positive fun will be had by all regardless if I show my grubby mug
