i'll be thinking of you boys skinning up the hill in the dark and pouring snow...
  3. ?? i have a hard time seeing the similarity between the two, but i guess i've never actually seen liberty ridge w/ me own two eyes...i certainly wouldn't consider luethold's as a classic
  4. fisher chimneys on shuksan...they'll never turn back...4th class scrambling, steepish snow, crevasse route finding...super aesthic summit

hell, if it's gonna be that kinda party i'll ditch my old man down here w/ the crusading wife!
  6. broughton's made for a nice sunday afternoon away from the tryanny of the domestic life...did hanging gardens and some other mucky crap...fun climb up until the top out in the moss covered choss
  7. a fluke would have been a useless annoying piece of crap on the part of the climb we saw, in the condition it was in...
  8. yeah, what the hell..that manky bolt's already defiled the purity of the first gendy...why not schlep a ladder up there and tie it in to complete that everest-esque feel?
  9. doesn't he? if not, i'd figure at least you could slit his wrists and suck enough beer-laden blood to get a decent buzz...
  10. the climbing still woulda sucked up there, but at least there would be beer for the lengthy belay
  11. at least 2 of our groups had pins (KBs) but there was nothing at the base of the first gendarme that would take them. a smallish cam would have worked in a crack beside that wierd bolt though.
  12. we were running w/ your "flavor of the month" idea, iain (and i believe the answer you seek is the first line of the first post) i was amused to discover i wasn't the only teacher on the ridge skipping school
  13. in addition to the lack of rock gear, i must complain that, given that we're all cc.com-ers, there was a appalling shortage of beer...would have been nice at the first gendarme cluster-fuck
  14. well, so much for a scientific discourse... either way, global-warming/global-cooling, seems there will be a might fewer doorknobs i'll need to deal w/ on a daily basis
  15. the article is summarizing a pentagon paper though, and the scientific prowess of the us military is not to be sneered at (you know, the great guys who brought you such hits at the "hiroshima foxtrot" and the "nagasaki two step")
  16. http://www.fortune.com/fortune/technology/articles/0,15114,582584-1,00.html (sorry but the link won't post right here at cc.com (damn commas)...you'll have to cut and paste) seems like global warming might actually cause a prolonged period of intense cold for much of the northern hemisphere? icebergs down to portugal? maybe i'll finally be able to climb some ice in the gorge? you wacky scientists! i like the dogs'n'cats-living-together/human-sacrifice/mass-hysteria scenario described on page 3
  17. huh, huh...that was cool...
  18. hard to tell what the great silent majority thinks as there're like 5 fuk'n threads on the same subject...but many voices sounded agreeable to being drunk BEFORE the show as opposed to AFTER
  19. so it sounds like we doing the 930 show, with beers at the blue moon round 6, when we'll get tickets. who's coming to the show &/or bar?
  20. good idea...i'll bring a screaming child to make the whole experience more pleasant what's close to cinema 21? in fact, where the hell is cinema 21?

    PDX Kegger

alright, who the fuck knows where pete lives? spill it. this is obviously a weak attempt by some unknown force to bogart 3 whole fuk'n kegs.
  22. if his experience was like mine last year in the same place he also was out of his tent every 2 hours to excavate the mountain of snow that accumulates at the gap, just below i-rock...all the while listening to that godawful howl from just a few feet away
  23. uhhh, climbing at smith was kinda cool... the turn-off for timberline looked all cold and snowy and stuff so i got scared and kept heading east
  24. so you'll be up there this weekend, iain? i agree on the scary escape route in bad avy conditions
