you're in a room of 30 people and some dude w/ a gun comes in and starts firing. if you do nothing, you may get shot. if you charge the gunman, you have a greater chance of getting shot. if you all charge the gunman, you may get shot, and the gunman will be disarmed. what do you do?

Well, it's there, and God is killing kittens because of it.

What about the chain ladder that provides access to Merci Me from the left?

What's more controversial? The cc.com photo contest or the Piolet d'Or? -

1. Sucks. Mess w/ 520, or on bike/bus, take 271. 2. Really sucks. You have to take 520 a long way. 3. Dunno. 4. Sorta sucks. Mess w/ 520, or on bike/bus, take 255. 5. Not bad, w/ the 16/26 bus or biking down Dexter Cool beta on 4: Bike Burke-Gilman trail to Montlake, walk downto 520. Take ANY bus across to Evergreen or Yarrow. Bike the Evergreen Point trail to Lake Washington Blvd, bike lanes all the way to Kirkland.

Yes, I brought this up last year, but I got flamed with, "Run it next year yourself if you want it your way." if you have ImageMagick and Linux, it's really f'n easy to do: for i in *jpg; do convert -resize @400000 -quality 75 $i z$i; done -

I think the judges skipped or lost some photographs. For example, by 111, has some minor technical issues that can be fixed (slight tilt, black on left margin) but is far superior to any of the bouldering photos selected when it comes to composition. For that matter, the two-week entry period is too damn short... some of the UW crew was off elsewhere on break and could not submit. See http://www.astro.washington.edu/roskar/NZ/NZ.html for some sweet NZ shots, including bouldering -
if i didn't have an important meeting in the morning and plans in the evening, i'd have ditched work in a heartbeat.

Tvash worked his magic and made an awesome poster!
-
Too bad, saw that in the trailer and wondered how it would fit myself. Harlin said that on the actual climb, the bridge was sketch, but it didn't collapse. The producers wanted him to get that filmed, but when he did the 2nd time, it collapsed. He argued that the footage shouldn't be used because it wasn't what happened on his climb, but of course, the producers loved the footage.

This IMAX freakin' rulez!

It's definitely bottom of WR Pigeon. I dug up some of my own:

Rock on. I'm consulting Matt, who's organized the last few, on other organizational details. Tvash has offered to make a poster. This will be awesome!
-
yeah, looks like the start of WR Pigeon to me.

I'd like to have one. The problem is that it seems that most of the moderators are in some form of broken. And I'm too busy to do it all myself. If you'd like to help out, reply here or PM me. I assume CC.com could pay the reservation fee for the shelter, and maybe some supply costs? Tasks would include: -setting time/date (my vote is for Thurs May 3 or 10) -contacting the city to reserve a shelter -AV / power / slides stuff -charcoal for grill, condiments, plates, etc. -making a poster -advertising

Awesome, Daniel's a great guy. Thanks for reminding me to email him again. When we were on top of Ruth Mountain, he was like, "Something's missing here... where's the biergarten and the telepherique?" in his classic satirical voice.

Why is the Westside Road having such limited open times? Because there's construction on it during other times?

Those would be pictures taken by other people, not pictures taken by me.
