A war with Iran would probably backfire. Unfortunately the republicans would suffer huge losses in the election. This would create a Gov as controlled by Dems as the last was by Republicans and the pendulum would swing further. Then further back the other way. Danger! Will Robinson. There will likely be slides up there this weekend. But it might be worth it to go up to the lake and see if things have already slid. Then you get to either negotiate the sawtooth ridge to the summit of Dragontail, which isn't too bad, or risk avalanches on the SE exposure of Dragontail. Again, it will probably slide Friday but............ If you are coming down Asgard you can stay in the trees quite a bit but you will still be more exposed than on Colchuck if the glacier has slid heavily.

I have no curret information but two years ago, I got stuck 4 miles from the trailhead in deep snow in late June. That was after plowing through many other snowbanks. Chance are, you will have an extra 8 miles (from the last cabin)and then only if the big 4x4s have been tearing it up.

I was raised in Montana and thought I knew what cold was. On one trip, we were in -50F with no wind. In the Cascades, the humidity is way higher and the cold is more penetrating. This is magnified by any wind and elevation. It took me a couple years to get used to it. I thought that if it dropped below 32F there couldn't be any humidity but, experience is different.
