Ha ha ha. From salon.com: New rule If we really want to stop terrorism, we have to get Muslim men laid. - - - - - - - - - - - - By Bill Maher March 20, 2004 | Five British Muslims who were recently sent home from our prison at Guantánamo charge that their American captors brought in prostitutes to taunt them, because most had never even seen a naked woman before. It made me wonder how many members of al-Qaida have ever even dated a girl. We should hire women to infiltrate al-Qaida cells, and fuck them. Things would change quickly. Because young Muslim men don't really hate America, they're jealous of America. We have rap videos, the Hilton sisters and magazines with titles like "Barely Legal." You know what's barely legal in Afghanistan? Everything. Young men need sex, and if they don't get it for month after month after month, they wind up cursing the day they ever decided to go to Cornell. Have you ever wondered why the word from the Arab street is so angry? It's because it's a bunch of guys standing in the street! Which is what guys do when they don't have girlfriends, or aren't allowed to even talk to a girl -- of course they want to commit suicide. Unlike this country, where it's the married guys who wanna kill themselves. But here, we always have hope. You can at least talk to a girl, and one might be crazy enough to go for you. Or you could get rich, and buy one, like folks do where I live in Beverly Hills. The connection between no sex and anger is real: It's why prizefighters stay celibate when they're in training, so that on fight night they're pissed off and ready to kill. It's why football players don't have sex after Wednesday. And, conversely, it's why Bill Clinton never started a war. So to paraphrase the sign in his old war room: It's the pussy, stupid. We need the Coalition of the Willing to be reallywilling. We need to mobilize two divisions of skanks, a regiment of ho's, and a brigade of girls who just can't say no. All under the command of Col. Ann Coulter, who'll be dressed in her "Ilsa, She-Wolf of the S.S." uniform. Forget the Peace Corps, we need a piece-of-ass-corps. Girls, there's a cure to terrorism, and you're sitting on it.

Hmmm, no not real sure at all. That's just what I remember (this means little) from when I checked them on the ol' bathroom scale. Waaaaaaay lighter than my new Volkls, that's for sure.

I'm 6' 165ish on last years 180 Shuksans (same year as Josh's I think) and quite happy with them, though I've haven't ever demoed other bc skis. With Scarpa Lasers and Dynafits it's a pretty light setup at about 23 pounds. Coming from a downhill background it takes some getting used to, but once you do they get the job done - good sidecut for the hardpack and a good width for the crud around here. Sierra Trading Post had Shuksans on sale a week or so ago, might want to check that out.

I've heard the rubber sole doesn't work as well with a downhill binding, affecting how it releases. Never tried myself though. Some new AT boots coming out even have a swappable vibram and plastic sole for this reason.

a buddy and i skied to lunch counter and back via the aiken flows a couple of years ago, i think in late april or early may? pretty much all of the rock was covered. good mellow ski. i've heard some stories though about limited coverage later in the year making it a real pain in the ass. smith butte snow park was snowed in then too adding an extra few miles to the approach.
-
ya perhaps. think i saw you iain or your partner maybe? someone with skis just as they were downclimbing the old chute.

almost all of the ice coming down leutholds was from the wind. you'd first hear a good gust then all hell would break loose.

shit that sucks. Man dies while rock climbing near Troutdale 02:32 PM PST on Thursday, March 11, 2004 By ANTONIA GIEDWOYN, kgw.com Staff TROUTDALE -- A man who passed out while rock climbing at Lewis and Clark State Park Thursday died despite efforts to resuscitate him, authorities said. An ambulance and other vehicles stand near a climber who suffered a medical emergency at Lewis and Clark State Park. (Sky-8 photo) Paramedics performed CPR for about an hour and a half on the climber, whose name and age haven't yet been released, said Lt. Mike Shults, spokesman for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Three men had been climbing Broughton's Bluff Thursday morning. The climber who died was on top of the bluff and the other two men were climbing up towards him when he went limp in his harness and fell off the rock, restrained by safety lines. The two others in the climbing party lowered him to the ground, and another man called for help, Shults said. A search and rescue team received the call at about 11:30 a.m. It was unclear what kind of specific medical emergency the climber suffered. It could have been a heart-attack, Shults said. Also Online Sky-8 aerials of the accident scene Multnomah County detectives were interviewing witnesses at the scene, he said. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Lewis and Clark State Park borders the Sandy River along I-84, just east of Troutdale.
