It's one of those chicken and egg things. You need to have biofuel-burning cars and infrastructure in place to make the switch from petroleum. Certainly, making ethanol from expensive corn is a dumb idea in the long term, and also in the short term if you can buy it cheaply made from sugarcane in Brazil. But the idea of starting getting the infrastructure and vehicles in place now and switching over the raw materials as cellulosic sources come online is a good one.

If you read the original paper - it's not the fuel itself that's the problem, it is entirely the land clearing.

The cornice will be a big problem along the NW face and by the time it's gone (late May) the start gully will be bush city. You might want to think about starting via the NE Ridge, that's less corniced. Also going out by Lucky 4 will easily add most of a day, why not just head down to Williamson Lake from Foley?

The Rocker is way bigger than a Tibloc or Ropeman - it's the size of a GriGri, basically - and so I don't think it'd be very smart to use for alpine simuling.
