  24. Climb: Daniel - Hinman Traverse- Date of Climb: 7/28/2004 Trip Report: Day 1 Left Seattle at AM started hiking at 8 from the Tuequala Meadows trailhead. Man it was hot! Camped below the east summit of Daniel. Great views but the wind kept me up most of the night. Mark slept through it all. Day 2 As we were eating breakfast a group of climbers showed up, they thought we were a Starbucks. I told them lattes where $!0. We then summated Daniel. We had planed on crossing the Lynch Glacier and going through Lynch Draw. This wouldn’t work because the lake at the bottom of the glacier had grown in the past 25 years since the map was made. So we worked our way down and across to the Shovel Creek Basin and the col between Daniel and Hinman. This route involves lots of route finding and loose boulders. We then acceded a snow finger up Hinman. We could see some old ski tracks. Great terrain but it looks like there is no easy what in. I ran out of gas about 2/3 of the way up so we camped on some slabs. Wind again kept me up while Mark snored away. Day 3 Used crampons for about 1/2 hour. Summated Hinman then headed down the ridge towed La Bon Gap. Cool ridge hike. Descended boulders and rough trail to William's Lake. Hiked the trail to I will be working on week after next Holy shit, that trail needs some work! Camped at Dutch Miller Gap, got a great nights sleep. We had planed to climb Bears Breast but one look at the approach and we said screw it. Day 4 Got a late start and had a mellow hike over to Deep Lake. Saw some good size bear shit. Swam and lazed around the rest of the afternoon. Day 5 3 1/2 hour hike out. Saw some cat shit. Saw group of Boy Scouts on there way up. They were suffering in jeans and cotton T shirts. A great trip with lots of great scenery and plenty of water. Sunrise from Hinman Gear Notes: Will be getting aluminum crampons soon.
  25. On one of my bike tours I rode through that area. I is indeed a great place to ride.
