Here's what seems so ironic to me about Islam considering images of the Prophet Muhammad as blasphemous: They don't allow images of the likeness of Muhammad and yet so many of their people go by the name "Muhammad" (and with that exact spelling). So if I am a person with the name Muhammad, doesn't that mean that my face could be the image of Muhammad? It just seems funny to me that images of his likeness are not allowed but naming a son after his likeness is okay. It would seem like the latter would be an even more egregious transgression. I tried to convey this irony to a Muslim co-worker and he didn't get me at all.

It was totally random. I knew of an Irish singer Liam Clancy (I could maybe have thrown out his name as a Jeopardy answer) but I didn't honestly know his music and our Liam is not named after him (or any particular Liam, for that matter, although my middle name is William from which Liam derives). A friend of mine informed me that Liam spelled backwards is Mail. I hope this doesn't mean my Liam man will become a Mail man. Hey hey, your name backwards is Navi. Your kids must like you during this time of year: you're a Navidad.

One Liam leaves this world as another one enters it, in this case Liam Victor Klenke at 2:55pm. Liam Clancy to Liam Klenke. Kind of a trippy rhyme association we have there.

Who won the pull-up contest? Fern?

Well this is really more the south side of Baker, or SSW side, than the west side, but a fantastic shot nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.

The answer is Pt. 7920+ from the north.

Hint: Is what's pictured here the actual summit of whatever peak it is or just a subsummit?

Most illogical...if humans were computers. But humans aren't computers. Is this a valid point of view?

"...when the mailbox is stuffed full and there's a weeks worth of newspapers on the mat, who is not coming home anytime soon vs. who is just away for the day at work." One could argue idiots that don't prepare in advance to protect their property during their absence deserve to be burgled to teach them a lesson. That said, how many times have we who park in our garages left on a trip and got halfway to our destination and asked, "did I close the garage door?"

"I am certainly not going to make excuses for the Democratic party. It has none." Oh, j_b, what ever do you mean, ol' chap? I say.

Hey guys, have you run into these guys? So suck.

Say, how 'bout them high pressure meat salesmen? (This thread has drifted farther away from its source than an Antarctic ice shelf in a global warming alarmist's wet dream.)
-
Earlier this year the high pressure meat man came by my house not once but twice. The first time I said no and he didn't apparently know what no meant. The second time a few months later my wife said not only no but get the hell off my property or something like that. If this guy comes by a third time, we might make meat out of him, and we won't say no that time. Now, if it's a kid and his mom selling popcorn for Boy Scouts, then not no but un-no, and can I trade you some meat for that popcorn?

Here's my two cents: Cent #1: Label what you want to label. It's your art project. Cent #2: Selling this poster for profit might run afoul of the Berann family. The (unlabeled) poster may be in the public domain, but his family may still own the copyright for it. If folks wish to pay you for the cost of printing a poster, then that would be not for profit. Edit: sorry, I was thinking "fair use" not "public domain" in regard to my "still own the copyright" statement. Still, at the least, it would be ethical to state on the poster that H. Berann created the original artwork, and you have done this.

That's pretty good. I don't see any errors, although I think your Orcas Island is really supposed to be the Olympics. Berann's scale for that massif belies the mere 2400-ft height of Orcas Island's highpoint (Mt. Constitution).

Steven Seagal making a lousy political statement in this thread = lame. Dude, this is a thread about Huskies Football! Yo. Werd up. Werd to your mother. Peace out.
-
Did the Huskies set any record last Saturday?
-
Hey Kurt, don't sell the Huskies' '08 ineptitude short. They were actually 0 and 12 last year. Besides, at least the Huskies didn't get whupped by 70 points in one game last year!

If Scurlock calls it a rock glacier, it must be a rock glacier : click here (if this is the same feature as tvash's photo) Other Scurlock "rock glacier" images: near Silver Star Mountain north side of Gilbert Mountain near Silver Star Mountain lots more pictures here in this archive The one on the north side of Bigelow Peak is a confirmed rock glacier. There is also one on the southeast side of Star Peak (photo of it is on this page).

Scottk: the peak in the background is Black Peak (8,970 ft). I believe I already did an analysis once using Black Peak. Or maybe I'm misremembering that I did the analysis. I'll see if I have anything to dig up. -

Nice pictures. I too am interested in the viability of the crossover at left-center in Mikester's picture above. Silence: do you have a larger version of the picture at right in your post? By the way, based on my reading of the map, Mt. Seattle is the point on the left in the left photo. Pt. 5987 halfway between Seattle and Noyes is the point on the right. And Mt. Noyes is the far right point in the right picture (the summit is just barely visible right of the tree at frame's edge).

Only when I have a bowel movement after a plate of beans. I'm a peakbagger because I like it. The end.
