Well, besides the fact that most all subarus are built in north america now... What he's alluding is that the richer you are, the larger % of your income goes to luxury good spending. The rich paying more taxes stimulates the economy and not only benifits the lower and middle class but then as well. For supposedly being smart people I'm surprised they are too dumb to get it. It's really in their best interest. How many rich people do you think are better off now than in the clinton economy despite lower tax burden? I bet there are 3 or 4... Hondas; yes. Toyotas; yes. Subarus; no. Still built in Japan I believe. Still waiting for Catbird (The Scientist), and now you, to back up your assertion.

Hey Josh, Which weapon was your personal favorite? I haven't seen the movie, but that looks like a nice Khar 9mm or 40cal in the video trailer. I'll bet you'd just love one of those fine weapons, wouldn't ya Josh? Hey! Any good shotgun vengence action scenes? MAN; that 00 can really tear a guy up good, eh? How was the popcorn? You know, Josh, that butter they use aint' even real!

Facts to support this? Parhaps a study from a non political source? ...a rich guy and a BMW? How cliche'. What about the middle class guy who bought the Subaru? ...Or the low income lady who bought Malasian made clothes for her kids at WalMart? I see absolutely nothing compelling in your post above.

Josh, I think you'll discover, 'someday', that it is folks who are not NRA members you'll have the most difficulty collecting firearms from. Some of us just like to avoid being on 'membership lists'...if you know what I mean. I derive solice from the notion that left-thinking kids like yourself tend not to reproduce.

Christians didn't destroy these ancient Buddhist carvings did they, AK? Muslims did. So you see, AK, your constant anti- Christian hysterics aside, all religions try to supplant other's beliefs with their own. (With the possible exception of Buddhism.) I've said it before: The only thing worse than a proselytizing Christian, is a proselytizing atheist. Please try to apply your contempt for religion even-handedly.

Norm, Is Islam itself not superstition? Additionally, I think you are wrongly crediting Islam with the myriad of Arab achievements in science and mathematics. The advent of Islam in the middle east has steadily strangled Arab leadership in these areas over the past twelve centuries. Islam is a drug from which the Arab world needs to awaken, just as science and liberal western thought were able to cast off the shackles of The Catholic Church in Europe ...to a large degree, anyhow.

Although the left likes to lay claim to Orwell, he can't really be defined by either side of the political spectrum. Be careful though, Peter. One of the mods on this site likes to delete Orwell posts that don't conform to his/her ideals. We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence upon those that would do us harm.--Orwell

Another point... I don't recall Bush Sr. or Bob Dole parading their service records (both incredibly heroic, BTW) during their campaigns. Kerry ties his Vietnam service to almost every issue he addresses.
-
He was at least in college. As opposed to Bush. Who couldn't be bothered to show up for his National Guard commitment. I'm not sure why you libs can't let go of this National Guard issue. It has been thoroughly dispelled, records released, etc. I guess if a lie is told enough times..... And isn't "at least he was in college" a bit of a dodge? Didn't Clinton write his senator/draft board expressing his contempt for the US military?

Mr Dolittle. You are a joke. You rail against the violence of the world, then you post the bilge above. You run around posting on this board like Chicken Little, then you chest beat and tell us all how you've 'lived through some shit' . I suspect you have fried your brain with recreational drugs and are beyond redemption.

...like Clinton?
-
Yes. Exactly.

I think he served honorably in a noble cause. It's what he did when he returned home that I have problems with.

....let's not forget about the 20 people he killed in Vietnam... including a mother/baby , 12 year old child, and other assorted combatants and civilians. (??-by this account, anyhow) While I don't think a soldier following orders to execute a free-fire zone is guilty of any crime whatsoever, I am curious how the peaceniks and other assorted liberals on this site can reconcile actions like these with their beliefs. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=12051

That's a nice rifle for sure, but it is a full 7 pounds, versus the Ranger which is 5 1/2 ...and only 34 inches legnth. I think Marlin makes a similar .30/.30 now too. I agree though, that 45/70 would be a lot more firepower than a 30/30.

I ran into a guy hiking the Wonderland Trail a couple years ago who had just returned from a trip to Vietnam. No liberal eco-tourist, he! He described the highlight of his trip as a $100 RPG vs. bovine field trip....that's 60 bucks for the cow and $40 for the rocket. The farmer keeps the meat! Yow!!! I think the Win 94 Ranger is the ultimate Alaska backcountry gun. Short, light...I wish it came in stainless!

Josh, You might find this website interesting. Follow the links...The Whitechuck Glacier has lost an entire km square lobe! It is amazing to see how comparable glaciers with the same aspect, and in close proximity to one another spend their budgets. As for your 'new glacier' theory, I would not be surprised if you're right. Just look at that little pocket glacier on Slesse that builds up for several years, and then slides/melts away in less than one season...only to rebuild again. That big winter we had in 99 will help pay off some mass/balance equations, but unfortunately the long term glacier-deficit overall continues unabated. http://www.nichols.edu/departments/Glacier/survey.htm even better.... http://www.nichols.edu/departments/Glacier/deathglacier.htm Check out those pics of the Whitechuck! ...Meanwhile, a new glacier is forming inside the crater of St Helens!

I've listened to Kucinich speak several times, and while his vision of America is 180 degrees from mine I must say that I honestly respect the man. He's articulate, intelligent, POLITE, knows what he believes, and does not waver or waffle. Kucinich is a true patriot and an honest, civil alternative to GWBush. Too bad he's so wrong on so many ideas. I really like his persona.

Government Social Spending Does Not Stunt Growth
Fairweather replied to catbirdseat's topic in Spray
I don't consider nationalized health care an 'investment'. I continue to scratch my head when I hear liberals, and even some libertarians scream about their eroding freedoms in one breath - and then tout the virtue of turning over the fate of their very bodies to some new government behemoth in the next. Will our national investment in education be for naught if our industries continue the current trend of using well educated foreigners who are willing to work for one-third the price of their American counterparts? Not to defend the idiots that manage Boeing, but are you saying that Airbus is somehow liberal? I suspect that the execs at Airbus would love to conduct their business under American tax and labor regulations versus those under which they now reside. (The illegal EU susidies they receive notwithstanding) -

I've done it both ways- a couple of times each. From Paradise, we climbed it once in winter with no problems at all, but the time we did it in early June the Cowlitz crossing was heavily crevassed and we both punched through several times. The Ingraham was smooth both times-no problems. I would not push this crossing in poor weather conditions as dropping even slightly low on the Cowlitz will place you into the largest icefall on Rainier, and missing the crossing of the large rock pillar that divides the two glaciers would be bad. A strong party, starting early, can do this trip in one day. If you need more info, feel free to p.m.

It was clearcut, strip-mined, and dusted with Cobalt60 just yesterday. ....sorry Ali! I just couldn't resist.

Wellll... I'm pretty certain it was a grizzly bear. Of course it could have been a brown colored, hunchbacked brown bear. The guy with me, coming off of 19 years core drilling in AK with plenty of looks at bears of all flavors, was certain it was a grizzly. But maybe not... We are both reasonably certain it wasn't your ass. Mine wasn't the only griz comment, but I didn't mean to offer it as support..or...opposition to the Wild Sky proposal. I'm in the latter camp but when I go off on that tirade I tend to start raving and only succeed in convincing people that I'm a twit. Mister Mo, ....actually, if you look at the R-E-P-L-Y it was in response to D-A-V-E S-C-H-U-L-T-Z' original post. Not yours. I don't doubt your Grizzly claim. They are frequently seen in the north eastern corner of the state. I just don't like it when enviro groups and their willing dupes (again, like Dave...not you) push this whole grizzly habitat tripe. It is completely disingenuous. As stated in one of the posts above; why are these groups claiming this when it isn't even present in the EA? If grizzly bear sightings south of hwy 20(much less, hwy2!) are proven by some sort of scientific survey I may reconsider my position. But until then, I wish these Wild Sky snake oil salespeople would just stick with the facts.
