Sunshine on Hood. Skyladder on Andromeda. (Although I'm sure this one is on a list somewhere.)

What a day! I was a seven year old watching it on a 13" black & white TV with my parents. Cool to see the old Mt St Helens behind you too. My only day of note was my fourth summit of Glacier Peak on 9/11/2001.

Not sure Liberty Ridge is seeing much traffic these days. Even in April/May the upper schrund and bowl under Liberty Cap is looking steep and icy. I don't keep track of route reports much, but it seems the route is no longer intermediate at all? Are you going for a 50 year repeat? 👍

Weird language. Government workers certainly do NOT "feed fuel and clothe" the American people. Free markets do. Random thought: Now might be a great time to do some MTB/eMTB poaching along the PCT!

Now the team is doing well, but imagine the franchise owner suddenly decides he's going to participate in the game, puts on his glove and takes the mound!

Remove the team from the field and replace them with National Guard soldiers. Escort the coach from the stadium and appoint a temporary federal administrator. By this time next year, you will be tired of so much winning. 🤣

Your replies are heavy on emotion, light on depth. WEA? Sometimes I wonder if TDS is even worse than Gender Dysphoria.

Christmas Eve, 1860 comes to mind. Also Trail of Tears. Slavery. Jim Crow. KKK. Eugenics. Espionage Act. World War 1. Soviet collusion. World War 2. Japanese Internment. 75 day filibuster of Civil Rights Act. Vietman War. All Democratic Party programs. Nowadays, of course, Democrats will tell you the parties have "flipped." That Democrats have miraculously changed their behavior. No such flip ever took place. Democrats are the same pieces of shit they have been since 1824.

Even Biden's FBI classified the January 6th event as a riot, and decidedly not an "insurrection." No matter how many times Rachel Maddow tells you it was, well, it just wasn't.

Hmmmm, I read my words again and they seem pretty clear when taken along with the parenthetic context. Maybe the fault is on the reader's end? Read much?

They do it all the time. LA, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, DC come to mind.

Burn an American flag as an act of defiance, no problem. Burn a progress/pride flag in WA? Hate crime. Charges filed. Trump? Sure, I support him. About 98%. A few quibbles, like crypto insanity--but he's doing everything we voted for. From where we stand, he's far less "authoritarian" than was Biden. (Or whatever woke cult was running the White House while Joe was napping.) And I thank God every day the Ditz, Kamala, isn't sitting in the Oval Office. Yikes, what were Democrats thinking? Porter, you're being hysterical again. You've live in Washington State for so long, you forgot what America looks like.

MRNP Carbon River/Mowich Lake Access Closed

The noose gets tighter at MORA. The park is being severely mismanaged--and, given his history in Alaska, I suspect the new superintendent is the nexus. https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tripideas/roadway-from-cayuse-pass-to-stevens-canyon-road-will-be-closed-next-month-at-mount-rainier/ar-AA1LmuTS?ocid=BingNewsSerp -

Access to MRNP just got worse. (For Pierce County residents.) https://mynorthwest.com/chokepoints/sr-410-white-river-bridge/4121822 -
Who really cares about this shit anymore? Still, if you eat all the dessert--and skip your dinner--you didn't really finish your meal.

[TR] Palisades Mountain - From Hidden Lake 07/25/2025
Fairweather posted a topic in Mount Rainier NP
Trip: Palisades Mountain - From Hidden Lake Trip Date: 07/25/2025 Trip Report: Dwayner and I continue our "minor peaks" quest inside MRNP. Got a little off route on the way up from Green Pass, but found traces of a long-ago boot path during our descent. My first time in this area. The lakes and meadows are the best in the park! Flowers are out. And so are the mosquitoes. Gear Notes: . Approach Notes: . -
I look forward to hearing about your anniversary climbs! Then & Now pictures!

Trip: Goat Island Mountain - West Ridge Trip Date: 07/11/2025 Trip Report: Another MRNP Peak with Dwayner today! Left the Summerland trail about half mile above the creek crossing and boulder-hopped up Fryingpan Creek until we were forced to cross. The water was pretty high. Up to the saddle above the giant chock stone, then along the long long long ridge to the highest point. Some of the best views in the park--or anywhere on Earth IMO. Gear Notes: Boots Approach Notes: Trail to Summerland, then XC

[TR] Tokaloo Rock (Sunset Ridge bailure) - Standard 06/29/2025
Fairweather replied to JasonG's topic in Mount Rainier NP
We tested that. It's a really nice horizontal hand-sized crack that leads right into the vertical system, about 20 feet moving rightward. Only problem is no foot holds, completely smooth--and its a long vertical drop. -

Less than 35 feet to go! I guess it would be the east ridge as our backs were to the Tahoma Glacier. Whether to go right or left here was beyond us. -

0 for 2 on Tokaloo Spire. The old piton is there, but looks pretty worthless--and the fall is a big swing. Next time we will try climber's left.
