Hey Fern, I would strongly suggest talking to some locals for some beta in Black Canyon, long, long, long committing routes with finicky weather that time of year. I'll be at Shelf on the second and third weekends of March if the wx complies. Also don't get the Climbing Colorado guidebook, found its only useist for camping toilet paper now.

Thanks for the help guys. Got the Tuas with Silvretta 404s. They'll do for the remainder of this season but I see myself upgrading bindings next year. Got The 404s because I wanted them to be compatable with my mountaineering boots. However... Decided against breaking my ankle and picked up a pair of Lowa Structuras. They seem a little clunkier than what I was expecting but it seems the trend with tele and randonee gear is to mimic downhill more and more. Got some skins and will test the setup on Sunday at Boreas Pass if avy conditions allow me to.

I agree with fenderfour. What you describe using it for, many people have separate ropes for those specific activity. Ironically the toughest one on a rope is probably the rubbing of top-roping. Also 10mm is a common width so I think they will be cheaper. As for brand preference, everybody is going to say their own one.

That's what I thought. If you them into different piecs at different points, with basic geometery that means one rope will take the fall. Or do you clip both into the same piece before the perceived crux?

Podcaster I have listened to did nothing for me. But I think regionally this is something that is useful. IE: Since I live in Denver now listening to Front Range Bouldering, I got some beta on some problems in Castlewood Canyon that us mere mortals could actually try. True, some of it is drivel, but you can get some good tidbits from them. And besides, I wanna hear about the sacrificial Devil's Club ritual on the Mox Spire climb from Layton!!

So Front Range Bouldering offers a podcast, when are we going to get our hardmen (and women) spray their beta on a podcast. Its good background chatter when surfing. Any plans on this Jon?

Was shocked yesterday when I went to check out ClimbingBoulder for some Clear Creek Canyon beta for a planned day o cragging on Sunday and saw in big shiny letters "Mountain Project". After spending time on it, the beta is the same but it seems much, much cleaner and more streamlined. Two thumbs up guys.
