Ding! Ding! Someone's been listening to their vocab tapes!

The stupid thing is that Homeland Security doesn't have coordinated lists of "bad guys" to compare the new info against. They'll basically store a bunch of info about people's movements, catch some expendable drug and/or finance violators, and keep those of us who are inclined to xenophobia a little more scared. Take that, Osama!

Hey fuckwad. I was born and raised in rural North Louisiana. I know as well as you do that there are more than a few ignorant white boys, your sorry ass included, that feel it's their right to maintain race-based privilege and hide it behind any legitimizing façade they can think of. That you picked the lamest of excuses--romantic fantasies of the confederacy--indicates that you're about the stupidest bigot I've encountered since I left the South. Two more things. Learn to spell, ass sucker. And make no mistake that I'm flaming your racist ass as myself, you dumb fuck.
-
If only the rest of the rest of you racist cowards would leave the South and go stink up another state, it'd have a chance at regaining its reputation for Be Sweet good manners. Until then,

He's safe. Prions don't eat holes in feces.

It's pretty cool as dike hikes go. There's a trail from the campground that skirts the lake counterclockwise, and the dike is pretty obvious.

2003 was a big year for me too--I've got a daughter that I didn't have this time last year. And after all that sitting around bouncing her on my knee, I have the old standby resolution--get back in shape. 2003 included the one year anniversary of losing my dad. Learning how to say goodbye has meant realizing that if I'd spent all the time I could have with him, it'd hurt about the same. Hang out with your parents because it's good to be around them--the missed opportunities are a drop in the bucket.

Unwise move if you ask me. What if they want to sell him to Michael Jackson in a few years?

I moved from Syracuse to Olympia a few years ago and had no trouble finding suitable partners despite being sub-hardman (daks grades are about equal to the stiffer grades here). All I've really had to do is feign indifference to bolting controversies....

My Sister-in-law came in early for work at the Milwaukee REI a few weeks ago to find a guy sorting through the dumpster for stuff to return. That's my pick for the new trend of '04: multi-returns.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no link, only reasonable speculation. There've been several cases of CWD in wild deer in Wisconsin (where there are large cattle and deer herds) but no BSE. They're doing a lot of science on both deer and cattle and so far there's no transmission between cattle and deer, or between cattle or deer and humans. The high occurance of new variant CJD in England seems very compelling, but all I've seen says no actual link has been nailed down.

...and cancel a few more flights out of France. Take that, Osama!

I don't care about the names on the front of the schools--they're usually a monument to their namesake's irrelevance. But a disproportionate number of folks always leaps to defend the Southern status quo, usually prefacing it all with "I'm not racist." What's their dog in this race?
-
Sounds like they sent the sample to the lab because the cow looked sick; thus they didn't know it was BSE until processing was done. That's what NPR is reporting, anyway.

2 pages of dorky questions? I'm not bored enough to be smart.

Isn't it about time for mockumentary night? A Mighty Wind was funny, Best In Show was funnier, and Waiting For Guffman was hilarious, but no movie is funnier on purpose than This Is Spinal Tap . You can't go wrong with A Fish Called Wanda. If you're looking for smarty-smart flicks, Adaptation, Rushmore, or Welcome to the Dollhouse are some quirky and funny shit.

I'm rooting for the Packers, because: 1. Brett Favre's a good guy, and kicking the Raiders' asses will be a reprieve from the world of hurt he's in 2. I am presently in Green Bay.

I can't find the link. It was similar to this setup but with 2 metal rings, one of them narrower, and a cone-shaped bauble on the end of the rope, if I recall. The bauble caught the narrow ring and brought down the sling. I've never heard of anyone actually using that, maybe due to it getting hung up on the way down (or nobody trusting it wouldn't). There's always the back-and-forth woven thing. I tried that once on a safe 30ft rap. It worked ok, but on a longer rap the rope stretch would make it hard to pop the first loop.

Looks like a smooth technique, but what particular problem does it solve?
