Unable to extricate Elvis Costello's beard from the strings, the technicians at Hamer have modified his guitar with room to grow.
  2. I like MM because he's great at what he does: articulate raw progressive ideals. And I like Clark because he talks straight. But I'm also thinking about electability, and that means I'll support anybody whose name sounds good with "Breaux."
  3. Has anyone been banned for engaging in political debate, or for expressing right wing views?
  4. If you love Trask, set him free....
  5. Anybody know a long skinny rope that isn't really stiff? I've been pondering on just taking my super-soft 50m cragging rope and a 5.5 mm retrieval line.

  7. I listen to NPR to stay current, and I feel extra satisfied if I catch the Beeb a few times a week. My fave web source is The Week for aimless news browsing or I'll look through Google News for whatever in particular. My fave source for interesting web scrapings is zfilter .

    Trask

I agree that it's relatively quiet in spray without trask, and that at his best he could inspire entertaining controversy. But most of the time he just imitated capt. caveman's quasi-moronic style and was too busy flame baiting to come up with anything clever or even entertaining. Personally, I think a banned avatar ought to be permanently banned. If the person behind the curtain has the means to re-avatar they will, but an identity on the board is a valuable thing: low post count = newbie gaper like me or given to pointless offensiveness. It might encourage one to think it over before firing off another audacious-for-the-sake-of-audacity post, and it might keep that particular quality in spray. Maybe not.

    ridiculous

My doc told me: whatever's harder. This was in the context of a question about heart disease and diet, so I assume that her answer was limited to how much it contributes to clogged arteries and not other possible problems with TFAs. I assume that softer tub margarine has relatively less hydrogenated oil? I only use butter when it's a critical ingredient, like in breads, sweets, or a big ass plate of grits.

    please explain

from a google search: The word urban comes from the Latin word urbanns, which is a derivative of urbs 'city' (a word of unknown origin.) It was preceded into English by urbane, which is essentially the same word, but came via Old French urbaine. It was originally used as urban is now, but after urban arrived it gradually took the metaphorical path to 'smooth, sophisticated'. Urbane meant having the manners thought to be characteristic of townspeople: courteous, refined and elegant. This definition was first recorded in 1623 in Cockeram's Dictionary. The derivate suburb, suburbe before 1325, comes from the Latin word suburbium and dates back to the 14th century, but was only infrequently used before the 1800s. Suburban, another derivate, is borrowed from the Latin suburbanus (near a city). This word dates back to the 17th century. Before 1625 it had the meaning: of, relating to, or in a suburb. Today urban is used when referring to something that is related to or characteristic of a city. When we talk about suburb we mean those parts that lie immediately outside a town or a city. Sub - below, near + urbs, genitive urbis - city Sub- below, near + urbanus - urban The word suburb often has a negative ring to it. Many people have preconceived notions about people living in the suburbs. It could be that they are dumber, fight a lot or something like that. In the 'Shorter Oxford English Dictionary', Vol.II, I found a definition of the word suburban from 1817: "Having the inferior manners, the narrowness of view etc. attributed to residents in suburbs." So while urbane meant having manners described as courteous, refined and elegant, the derivate suburban got the meaning of inferior manners and narrowness of view. We can say that the word has gone through pejoration (worsening in meaning) with the development.
  20. Taking nitro when it's not indicated is a really bad idea. I wouldn't dream of using such a kit unless I was accompanied by someone trained in handling emergency heart trouble. And even then, the variable mix of being winded, pumped, tired, gripped and focused would make it hard to sort out until it's full on.
  21. If you're working with people in Neah Bay, you could also ask about the cliffs on the West side of the cape, where the final scene in Dead Man was shot. The people I talked to were fairly traditional and said it's a spooky place that kids are warned to avoid. Seems like a judgement call to me--if it's even climbable.
  22. Some rez kids have said that rock climbers come around occasionally; but you gotta catch a seriously low tide, and getting through the brush to the clifftops is a brutal endeavor. There's a trail up past the tribal school that gets to the NW-most part of the cape. It didn't look to me like you could go ground up, but we didn't get very close to the cliffs on account of the chop.
  23. Damn, was modern dance from the 70s? I found a cassette copy of in a box of same outdated format a couple weeks ago.
