  2. exactly. So start a thread about what a cool guy Drew is at bivouac.com cuz we aren't talking about that.
  3. "ah yes another person practicing what they preach" Hey, I'm no saint, but I've also never called any tr on this site "shitty", nor made such a blanket statement. The tone of your collective 9999+ posts over the years has been largely "either stupid, irrelevant, sarcastic, or just plain annoying." Your signal to noise ratio is definately leaning toward noise. To your credit, there have been some pretty cool items generated from your direction, but in the end I generally pass over the Hello Kitty icon, because I don't care to wade through the majority. Harpell, this isn't bivouac.com. A different beast entirely.
  4. "This board would be a lot better place if more people lead by example" Will you begin anytime soon? Lead by example Dru. At least reduce the snide, bullshit posts like the one above. No tr is shitty to the one who posted it. If it doesn't float your boat, stop reading it. It's an open forum. People post because they feel a kinship with others who do the same as them and they want to share the cool feeling they get from whatever climbing they do. "Shitty tr that no one can respond to" smacks of elitism that I would hope you would be above.
  5. "super secret mod forum" Do you discuss nehru jackets and plaid bell bottoms and such? Seriously, I think this thread you proposed is a cool idea. Gathering links to sites that focus on the broad spectrum of rock climbing and rock routes would be a pretty nifty resource. On the other hand, doing that omnipotent thing might put a crimp in your ability to keep the links to current and active only. Stick the Voodoo Wall link in there. It's worthy.
  6. I was expecting the omnipotent PP to make the other "RCLinks" a more happening thread than it has so far become. Anyway, I nominate the Voodoo Wall site. It is, IMO, good documentation of a new route on a rather mysterious feature at Darrington.
  7. Elephant Perch for sure. Also check out the Finger of Fate. The Open Book route is an area classic: 5 pitches of 5.8-5.9 with an interesting finish on the summit block.
  8. Hmmm... "I am glad Bush is a cowboy. He’ll get his man. Cowboys do, you know. Go Bush 2004" Quite the change in tune...but that's a good thing.

    Weekend

ESP experiment. Can you guess the word I think when I see that picture? Shwingggg!
  10. "US Cruise missiles sent specifically to divert attention from “Monicagate.” Corroborating evidence please.
  11. If the US military were to return to the body counts like those of the Vietnam era, that will mean taking responsibility for the killing. If the US military have no record of the deaths exacted, it deters viewing what is happening as inhumane and irrational. The US military should be made to recognize the humanity of the victims of this war by making a permanant, historical record of what is being done rather than just erasing them from existence.
  12. I once held my partner, who was climbing with an overnight pack, on a 5.8 alpine pitch while he dicked with some gear. As he hung there, I put more weight on the anchor which consisted of two bomber Friends behind a flake (it was all I had left that would work.) As I slowly added more weight to the anchor I heard a rattling noise. Looking back, I was horrified to see the flake expanding and the two cams reaching the tipping out point. I took the weight off the anchor and asked Kevin to start climbing again. In some cases, SLCD's are all you got, and even so, they aren't the best.

    Unbelievable!

Text from spam I got yesterday (bold print by me): "Dear Citibank Member, This email was sent by the Citibank server to verify your e-mail address. You must complete this process by clicking on the link below and entering in the small window your Citibank ATM/Debit Card number and PIN that you use on ATM. This is done for your protection -- because some of our members no longer have access to their email addresses and we must verify it. To verify your e-mail address and access your bank account, click on the link below. If nothing happens when you click on the link (or if you use AOL), copy and paste the link into the address bar of your web browser. " I clicked on the link and it took me to what looks like an official Citibank site, but then a pop up appeared asking for the above info.
  15. #1 TCU fits into a pocket moving out the roof on Narrow Arrow Direct, Pitch 1
  16. Pretty popular in England back in the 70's
  17. My neighbors have two chihuahua/greyhound mix mutts. Long legged yappers that can run is what they are. Annoying as hell, but can get away from the hose spray really easily.
  18. The DNB on Middle Cathedral... It requires just about every technique known, the line is beautiful, the views are awesome and when you top out, the full Katwalk awaits.

  22. Jim Wickwire as one of the pall bearers/coffin lowerers in (I think it was) the movie K2.
  23. Amanita muscaria contains muscimol that produces feelings of euphoria, hallucinations, muscle jerks, drowsiness, sweating, pupil dilation, and increased body temperature. Symptoms appear 30 to 90 minutes after eating this mushroom and are most intense after two or three hours. People who eat these mushrooms usually fall into a deep sleep.
  24. I think a couple regular cc.comers were climbing at Index during the March 2001 quake. Pretty scary from what I recall. I was looking up at Shirley on the Lower Town wall last Sunday. Thought it'd be a fun practice pitch. Thought about the rockfall that Dr. Jay had last year while trying the pitch...then noticed another big block right at the base of the route that looked very recent. I said and just wandered around for the rest of the afternoon. My friend Rob was at the top of Davis Holland when the Nisqually earthquake happened. He said shit was coming down all over the place, but not a grain of sand came down onto them.
