    Old sayings

And the Shrub variant: "Fool me once, shame ... shame on ... you."
  2. We are the children who grew too fast We are the dust of a future past We raise our voices in the night Crying to heaven And will our voices be heard Or will they Break Like The Wind We are the footprints across the sands We are the thumb on a stranger's hand We made a promise in the night Swearing to heaven Is this a promise we keep Or one we Break Like The Wind Hey! We are the guests who have stayed too long We are the end of the endless song We send our hearts into the night Soaring to heaven And will out hearts still beat on Or will they Break Like The Wind Ooh, Break Like The Wind.
  3. This is a short poem made up entirely of quotations from George W. Shrub. Arranged by Washington Post writer, Richard Thompson. MAKE THE PIE HIGHER I think we all agree, the past is over. This is still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty And potential mental losses. Rarely is the question asked Is our children learning? Will the highways of the Internet Become more few? How many hands have I shaked? They misunderestimate me. I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity. I know that the human being And the fish can coexist. Families is where our nation finds hope, Where our wings take dream. Put food on your family! Knock down the tollbooth! Vulcanize society! Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher!

    Classic

That's why you tie them off close with a girth hitch. Looks at least body weight to me. I like the idea of the tape as a time saver...clip a draw to one eye as opposed to threading and tieing off all of them.

  14. The day I was there it was colder than a well diggers ass and when I put my foot on that bridge, it did little more than move toward the opposite bank. I weren't taking any chances with the "tread light and fast" approach. I went for the round the upper wall trail to the diamond gully variation, but the grovel through the dihedral flake looked mighty uninviting that day as well.
  15. I took a newbie, big titty girlfriend up the Narrow Arrow via the 2nd pitch of Tatoosh. She got stuck and cussed a blue streak before I was able to haul her through the squeeze part. She was wearing a light blue shirt and the "front" of it ended up smudged in all the right places. I dared little more than glance at the obvious due to the foul look on her face. She ended up a damn good climber despite the experience.

    Thoughts

Try dropping "fact" and you should be just fine.

How about it's not a fact: Max gross takeoff weight of a 737 is 174,200lb. BTW, find enough fodder for never flying again here. The last words page is chilling.
  18. Yep. Last year it was floating pretty good early in the year. Is the old upper town wall trail still an option to circumvent the pond, or is there another way?
  19. Something like: "Brad Driscoll outnumbered his guests by one, but a good time was had by all."
  20. This thread started out so well...iTunes, Johnny Cash... Anyway... I can't seem to find a non-live Stones copy of Sympathy for the Devil at the Music Store. Mick's got some kind of death grip on his songs I guess. English Beat is conspicuously absent as well.
  21. I have a similar model with the triangle but no words. I sanded the well-used shaft with 100 grit paper to reduce the incidence of splinters and buffed the metal parts with steel wool and rubbing compound. I then treated the shaft with danish oil (to bring out the nature of the grain) and the coated it with several coats of polyurethane, lightly sanding with 220 grit paper in between. The metal parts I treated with 3-in1 oil to reduce oxidation. The metal has since reverted to a well used, but not overly-oxidized look. Over all, it looks pretty good. Yours being of a more historically known and significant origin, I would dispense with the sanding and polyurethane and just treat it with some tung or danish oil to preserve the wood as is. Buffing of the metal with a light petroleum product (3-in1, WD-40, gun oil) does preserve and enhance without messing up the aged nature of the metal.
  22. Plagiarized? Yes. Robin Williams? Maybe not.
  23. When I was up there weekend before last, I noticed the bridge from the RR tracks to the trail to Private Idaho/Diamond/Beyond was floating in a beaver pond. Is that a yearly occurence? (I don't remember that happening in the past.)
